100% agreement here. Yeah, Crosby whacked and hacked Sammy until Sammy finally had to defend himself. Even if Sammy went to the box alone I'm sure Babcock would have had no issue with Sammy. I just don't get why Crosby wasn't called for a penalty until AFTER Sammy had to defend himself? If Sammy would have just taken it they play would have just continued. LOL, I agree. The only person that has done anything cheap so far is Crosby on Sammy. I don't understand why the NHL, Bettman, and NBC want Crosby to blow his load in their faces...

I agree. Retiring a number is something special to a team. Gretzky started team hopping at the end of his career in hopes of finding a coup and made it so he didn't really have a team, oh well, maybe Edmonton would want to retire his number or something.

I disagree. We needs to asses penalties based on what you did and also factor in intent. Results don't matter. If the person is fine like Backes, then that's great. If the person is F-ed up like Draper, then that sucks. But regardless, it should be bassed off of what you did and also factor in intent.

I would have agreed more with a 2 minute penalty for boarding or for elbowing; I think the major was a bit much. They're still letting stuff go. A Red Wing got hit from behind into the boards and there was no call! I think it was a tough call for the refs, I would agree with a 2 minute call, but if the situation was reversed my bias would be wanting the 5 minute. I think the killer was the follow-through. I don't think we'll see a suspension out of this.

For example, WOW Cable's HD channels are a group of about 30 channels that they have in their 200-299 channel range. WOW cable carries Fox Sports Net Detroit in both 480i on channel 32, and in high def (720p) on channel 220. On WOW cable Versus is only available on channel 306. 306 is a digital channel, but that doesn't mean anything, because although it is digital it is still only 480i definition, not 720p or 1080i. Digital does not equate to high definition. Also, standard def Versus in 4:3 aspect ratio while high def is in 16:9 wide-screen. PS - FSD HD + My 42" Phillips HD TV = Hockey orgasm

Correct. Versus sucks. NBC sucks. CBC is awesome, and of course Mikey and Ken on FSD are the best. WOW Cable does not have versus in HD, which sucks, but it's mainly the announcing and how they talk about anything BUT the hockey game that is annoying. Versus announcers don't let the viewers know about things like penalties, big hits off camera, etc...

I think the big issue is: - NHL's removal of physical aspects from the game - Red Wings' total lack of a physical presence Also, I found low-scoring games more exciting, as it made goals more special. But now that the NHL has done everything that they can do to increase scoring short of making the nets bigger all these 5 to 6 games get old. "HE SCORES! But who cares, cause this happens a lot!" Next thing we know we just won't have goalies and it will be like basketball on ice.

Titanium, this post is epic. Yup, I was at the game last night and it's starting to piss me off. The lockout\strike pissed me off and I didn't watch NHL hockey for 1 1\2 years, and if they continue to consistently referee against Detroit I'll stop watching again.

You can only blame him for the third goal last night. We still need better defense.
