Even I must say...the reffing was pretty atrocious. At least you guys have a chance to rebound right away against the Oil. I bet the wings players are pissed and will be looking to make a statement against Edmonton.
-
Ok fine, I hope no one wins.
-
Now THAT is a dirty hit.
-
Go flames I feel kinda dirty saying that.

Here ya go. You're welcome NHL. Man I hate Tootoo...I know Sharks and Wings fans will always have that in common. edit - messed up the video embedding so I just put a link.

Any video of the incident? I checked youtube but didn't find anything.

I think the Sharks have proved that it doesn't matter if they're playing someone at the bottom of the conference. They really can't take anyone for granted. As for their schedule, I think the simple schedule you're referring to is more at the end of the season in the last 5 games. After Colorado tomorrow they go on the road and play another back to back in Chicago and in Nashville. Then they're back home for one against Phoenix before going back on the road to Calgary. 3 road games against current playoff teams including a back to back isn't what I would consider a simple schedule. It gets much easier after that though.

Losing Goc and Blake is a pretty bad result. I'd rather have the Sharks lose and stay healthy than win and lose 2 more guys. Goc's injury looked worse than blake's. In the postgame they didn't say much about Blake other than that they have no additional info. Chances are both wont be playing tomorrow against Colorado.

OP, just because they don't pick a Red Wing for each award doesn't mean they're hating your team. Also, consider that these people are on TV and networks want ratings. Sometimes they will say things that may "stir the pot" so to speak. Something to spark discussion or something that isn't already the common opinion.

Everyone knows the injury card is malarkey. No one is playing it. I'm aware of the Wings situation regarding injuries. Yes, if the Sharks can't play through adversity, they can't be expected to win a best of 7 against a solid team. You can say that about ANY team. That's what the playoffs are filled with. Adversity. Injuries. Scoring goes down. Everything you are saying is true. Also, everything you are saying is common knowledge among an average hockey fan. The Sharks top line has struggled recently. Again, I'm aware. Are they back? I don't have a crystal ball. They played well the last game or two, but they've been broken up. Setoguchi got moved down from the 1st line to take Clowe's place on the 2nd line with Michalek and Pavelski. The hole created by Setoguchi's departure on the top line was filled by Cheechoo. The reason for these moves is because... (I'm afraid to say it, you'll think I'm making an excuse). To sum it all up...Yes, I'm already fully aware of everything you are saying, as are most other people, but thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Alimony laws are so archaic.

The NHL needs any kind of publicity it can get. I'll take some controversial goal celebrations any day over the usual fight/injury highlights that usually get coverage on ESPN.
-
Boston getting back to the SCF would be a stretch right now...they're playing worse than the Sharks. It's so impossible to predict anything right now. Injuries, hot goalies, and hot teams at the right time....it's what makes the stanley cup playoffs like nothing else.

I know how much I enjoy when a fan of another team comes over to my team's boards and shares their point of view. It gives you perspective and can be very engaging and fun. Personally I get tired sometimes of always hearing the same things from people that share the same views as I do. At the end of the day, we're all fans of an amazing sport that (in most places in the US) doesn't get the love, recognition, and respect that it deserves. We're all hockey fans, and that's a bond in itself.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my post. I'm not making excuses for their poor play the last month or so. I was agreeing with another poster about how poorly they've been playing and providing some possible reasons as to why. I find in interesting how that with more than 10 games left in the season, that you've already come to the conclusion that the Sharks are incapable of overcoming the slump that they're in. I suppose that it's all over now, I should stop watching, and the Sharks should make late April vacation plans. /sarcasm The jury is still out. I think the majority of posters here realize that many teams are capable of getting hot come playoff time. To count out even a potential 8 seed at this point is ridiculous.

Thrashers have been playing very well lately, despite missing Kovulchuk. They're not to be taken lightly. That being said, I expect the Wings to handle business and win. 4-2 Wings after an empty netter.

Not true. Their regular 3rd line center has been out the entire season(Torrey Mitchell). Goc was in that role and recently was out for a decent stretch of games. Roenick would fill that role but he's been out (also a center). Clowe has just gone out and there is no current timetable for his return, but to be fair that happened very recently. Grier is a frequent 3rd liner, he's out. His PK presence is greatly missed. I guess to sum it all up in one word: False.

I assure you it does not suck to be a Sharks fan. Yes they seem to have a particular affinity for breaking my heart in early may every year, but things could be far worse. Relatively speaking, it's still a young franchise that only now seems to have reached the point of seriously contending for the cup every season. Very non-sucky.
-
No you're not. I agree...the Sharks haven't been the same team lately. Part of the reason is injuries, part of it is most likely some "dog days" apathy...they recently had a closed door 90 minute meeting instead of practice to hash some of the issues out and get everyone on the same page. Not that unusual, but clearly they're not happy with their play either. It's all about the playoffs and how teams are playing come mid April. The Wings and Sharks are merely jockeying for position right now.

Our whipping boy changes season to season. Cheechoo seems to be currently holding the title, though Ehrhoff always tries to take it away. Half of letsgosharks wants to deport Marcel Goc.
-
Is Kopecky the site's whipping boy or something? It's hilarious hearing the comments on his SH goal.

WOW WHAT A FIGHT!

Hey guys...been flipping around on center ice between the 948783 games going on right now and saw the Hossa injury. I really hope he's OK, that was an awful way to go into the boards. Very surprised that they called a penalty on the play though. It seems like the ref was just making a reactionary call based on the fact that Hossa got hurt. My team just got more injury news today as Grier and Roenick will both be out another 4-6 weeks from today and Mitchell is still not close to a return. All I want this summer is a Sharks vs Wings WCF with both teams fully HEALTHY.
