So BJ fans how do the playoffs work in hockey?

I don't understand why a Columbus company would want to make their own fans look like idiots.

Congratulations Marian Hossa - 40 Goals

You guys are lucky. Win the Cup, then add a player of Hossa's talent. Life is good.

    Playoff Perspective

Remenda I must admit, has become more homerish as time goes on. I think this is what he does to either pump himself up, or to stir the pot a little. It's already been touched on...of course teams don't want to play the #1 seed....or the #2 seed. It's so obvious it isn't really worth mentioning. I wouldn't think anyone would want to play the Wings or the Sharks given a choice. Anything less than a Cup is going to be a failure for either of these teams.

4/6 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Sabres 1

Real nice game by the wings on the 2nd night of a back to back. They were shaky in the first 5 minutes, but after that really controlled the play and it was clear on the ice who the superior team was. A couple more games like that and Detroit will be playing well at the right time come April 15th.

Red Wings should get a make up call in the 2nd...should being the operative word.

Yeah they really got killed...lost so many big names. They didn't fall too far off though which is a credit to their organization.

Nice physical D play by Ericson right there. Sorry if I spelled his name wrong.

4/5 GDT: San Jose at Anaheim

I agree with your post in the sense that the refs blew it tonight, and that it favored the Sharks. I'm not sure if you're implying that the refs wanted the Sharks to win or not, and if you weren't then just disregard the rest of the post. I think the refs want to do a good job just as much as the players do at their job...they just really sucked tonight. Even if the refs did have some sort of bias, it would be completely stupid to jeopardize their career and livelihood and intentionally slant a game to their personal liking.

The refs screwed this game up in more than one way. The Sharks benefited from the the penalty standpoint, and to their credit cashed in on the PP and it won them the game. Had the refs not swallowed the whistles with about 2 minutes left in the game, the bedlam that ensued at the end of the game would have easily been avoided. When you start to let things go, the players push the envelope even further. It's nothing new and not rocket science. Everything snowballs until it gets out of hand, which is what happened tonight. That is when players get injured and their careers are put at risk. No one wants that in the game. The league needs to do something about the officiating.

Get Rid of the Extra Point for OT/SO Losses

Your adjusted stats are missing 6 games for the Sharks. That might have something to do with it.

Get Rid of the Extra Point for OT/SO Losses

Since the NHL wont backtrack and go back to ties, this is the answer. All games are 3 pts. Yes it messes with the records, but at least it's a more fair and accurate ways of determining standings.

Sunday's game against the Wild moved to 12:30 on NBC

Someday I hope a network will pick up my team for a national broadcast. I'd be thankful.

3/30 GDT: San Jose at Calgary

For me, it's more like the traffic on this board is about 100x the traffic on the Sharks board I go to. Here there is a wider variety of topics to discuss, and more active threads. That and getting perspective from fans of other teams is always refreshing. There are people who prefer to live in their bubble and only talk about their team with other people that feel the exact same way. I am not one of those people.

    How the west plays out

Still? You can't be serious. The Sharks locker room is more like a hospital at this point. I think you mean if both teams are healthy, because the Sharks certainly are far from it.

There are no ties. We'll have to go to the shootout. I've always been of the mindset that 2nd place is simply the first loser.

3/30 GDT: San Jose at Calgary

The Sharks will need some big things to happen if they don't get over this rash of injuries. They can't go all the way without Marleau, who is currently out injured. No Marleau = no Cup. I'm fairly pleased with how they've been doing, but they can't win 16 playoff games in their current state. Injuries are a HUGE factor in the playoffs, and the Sharks are hurt right now. If they can't get healthy, they can kiss another season goodbye.

    How the west plays out

The Wild aren't making the playoffs. Too many other teams playing well right now that they'd have to leapfrog. They're toast. Jackets will be in. Stars are done. Blues I think may just squeak in over Edmonton. Preds also hang on to get in....they've been hot...points in 9 of their last 10. 1. San Jose 2. Detroit 3. Vancouver 4. Chicago 5. Calgary 6. Columbus 7. Nashville 8. St Louis 1st round SJ > StL in 7 Blues are hot and Mason is the real deal, but in the end home ice comes through. Det > Nsh in 5 Nashville has played the wings tough in the past, but the Wings have had the better of it this year and will continue to do so. Col > Van in 6 Jackets ride the momentum of their first ever playoff appearance into a shocker in the 1st round where the Nucks can't get any production out of anyone that doesn't have a last name that starts with S and ends with N. Chi > Cgy in 6 Finally back and bolstered by young fresh legs and incredible talent Chicago doesn't let Calgary muck up the neutral zone and force them to skate with the Hawks...which they can't do. Two completely opposite styles where you would think that the one closer to playoff hockey would prevail. I've learned that when it seems so obvious, it never is. 2nd round SJ > Col The Blue Jackets best season in history stops in the 2nd round. Sharks finally get healthy and are too big, fast, and skilled. Nash still has a big series and further cements himself as an NHL star. Det > Chicago Another interdivisional matchup. Another Detroit win. Chicago will have their time...it's just not now. Good experience for Toews, Kane, Sharp, and crew. 3rd round I hope we get to see the Sharks and Wings at full strength battle it out for the right to play for the Cup. I'm not predicting this one....I just pray I get to see it.

My head is spinning! The wings should be angry and come out fast and hard. I expect them to win tonight, and probably win big. 5-1 wings.
