    Bruins re-sign Tim Thomas

    Detroit should sign Fernandez.

    Osgood named playoff starter

It would be very unsurprising if Osgood plays mediocre in Game 1-2 and still wins, but loses Game 3-4. As long as Babcock makes the change to Conklin sooner then later if needed, no reason to worry.

Should Datsyuk be named the next Captain?

Datysuk is the best player on the Wings by far, but making him the captain may just distract him from doing what he does best. He's more of a quiet leader, Zetterberg though should be the next C.

    Mule close to signing

Someone mentioned it, if Lidstrom signs an extention, does his total cap hit go down for his remaining year?

    Pick 2 Players.

Datysuk and Hasek. Hasek in his prime years 1994-2001 was better then Roy, Brodeur, anyone you can name.

    Mule close to signing

Detroit will always have offensive, no matter who you put with Datsyuk and Zetterberg, the other guy will be a 20 goal, 50 points a season guy. It would make absolutely zero sense to sign Hossa at 6 million a season. How much better is Hossa offensively? He has 6 more goals then the Mule, a dozen more points. Detroit would be screwed if they had 3 forwards at 6 million. If they can get Franzen at 3.5-4 million, they'll have 6 million or so for the rest of the roster, and perhaps a 3 million/yr goalie. And the days of people thinking we don't need a mid-range goalie are dead. Not only the fact that if you sign Hossa, we basically lose Hudler, Leino, Sammy and Conklin to free-agency. Hossa at 6, means 4 million left over to fill 4 spots. No way could you keep any of those 4 who all deserve at least 2 million a season. All those guys have worked very hard, won the cup last year. It wouldn't be very fair to let them all leave to sign a 6 million dollar guy, who only scores 20 more points a season. Hossa's points can easily be replaced. But maxing up the cap with too many high end contracts is exactly what killed Ottawa, and almost killed Pittsburgh. Leaving some cap space open is a great idea. But really, if Holland wanted to, he could trade Kronwall, replace him with Ericcson, who we would all agree should be a top 6 D-man, and convince Hossa to take around 5 million. Hossa is a mult-millionaire. If he really wanted to stay with the Wings, he could take 4 million a season. Don't feel sorry at all. He's rich. It's his choice to stay, and Franzen signing should not affect him, unless he's making a pure financial decision. 4 million a season for 8 years with the Wings? Why wouldn't he take it? That's 32 million dollars. What's so unfair about that?

    The Last 10 Games

Their not on cruise control, they did everything they could to win those last two games. And the majority of the games this season were just like that. Detroit has a lead, goaltender melts down in the 3rd, and they usually have to score in the last 5 minutes to tie, sometimes they get lucky, they weren't in Nashville. Or the second option, goaltender melts down early and often, and we have to score 3 or 4 to win the game. Well that's usually only when Ozzy is in net. But you get the idea. That's the Wings, they weren't resting, or not playing their hardest, that's how they'll be in the play-offs, the same.

    Central Division

Columbus and Nashville both have real shots at upsets. Imagine an all Central 2nd round, it would have to be the first time anything even close to that occurred. Vancouver though is a scary team, they have a mediocre roster, but they're playing with confidence because of their one trick pony Luongo.

Should we abandon the race for the President's trophy?

Either way you stack it, if Detroit miraculously makes it past the first round even with the shotty goaltending, we'll get Calgary or Vancouver 100% in the 2nd round. Both teams have goaltenders who play amazing in the play-offs, and scoring depth. Could you imagine if it was Luongo verus Osgood? What a joke that would be. Conklin can at least play decent, above .9 sv%. Detroit is not going to score more then 3 goals a game against Rinne, Mason, Luongo etc. in the playoffs. Conklin at least has proven he can keep up a decent GAA. Could someone please explain why their going with Osgood in the first place? Who do you trust more to stop 20 shots a night? Is Osgood at his best better then Conklin? No. I mean what are they thinking? Why Osgood? Why keep going back to Osgood? He sucks. Every chance he's been given, he's failed. He hasn't played well in even half the games he's started. What are they thinking?

3/29 GDT: Predators 4 at Red Wings 3

He's been playing bad all season, and the success of this team long-term and this season depend solely on him. If Osgood fails, we'll need a goalie for next year, and probably can't afford Hossa, not that he would even stay with a team with Osgood as #1. The goalie is the only position that controls the success of a team. Bad goalie, bad team, out in first round. It's the most important position, and we have the worst guy in the league. The team can afford to have a few guys with a bad game. But when Osgood has had dozens of bad games this season, he sucks. Period.

How did they sit back? Franzen got the 3rd. The Wings outshot them. They didn't sit back at all. Osgood just dropped the ball again. This wasn't at all like that terrible Calgary game.

Osgood played the same way he's been playing all season, horrible.

3/29 GDT: Predators 4 at Red Wings 3

Osgood sucks. 100% his fault. 22 shots, 4 go in. Any other goalie could've done better then that. Those are the facts boys. Osgood is terrible. It's not the D. It's not the forwards. It's Osgood and his terrible play. He has not improved, you all know it. And all you Osgood supporters should shut up about the D hanging him out to dry. Forwards and D played just fine. Can't score 5 goals every night. This is what bad GOALTENDING gets you.

Wings are playing fine. It's Osgood that lost this game.

3/29 GDT: Predators 4 at Red Wings 3

It's not the D's fault Ozzy lets the puck in the net. Rinne has had way harder saves to make. If you need perfect D to play infront of you to win, you shouldn't be a NHL goaltender.

More then half of the games this season, he's played awful. 100% his fault. No other goalie plays that badly.
  23. TheOwl

3/29 GDT: Predators 4 at Red Wings 3

He hasn't played solid. He hasn't had to play at all. The shots are like 2:1 Wings. He has to stop half the shots as Rinne. Admit it, he looks BAD in net. No intensity, he looks small, no passion. He just stands their, no speed, no urgency. He looks completely indifferent. Osgood sucks, and you know it. Letting in the first goal, then stopping 10 or so shots, is not "solid".
