It was an easy save, he didn't get his pad extended.
-
Osgood sucks. That was a basic save.
-
If you think about it, the Islanders don't have a lot to play for. A game versus the defending champs is basically the biggest game they have in a season. They brought their A-game, combined with a lot of luck (goal posts etc), they won. To them, if theirs any game worth winning, it's against Detroit. And that goes for a lot of teams.
-
This will be like every play-off game if we get Columbus or Nashville in the first round. Lights out!!
-
This is pathetic.
-
When Osgood lets in more then 4 goals, it's his fault, not the D.
-
STAY DOWN OSGOOD!
-
Nice Osgood. He makes every forward look like Ovechkin.
-
Well it looks like Florida is going to miss the play-offs. Mason or Rinne should get the Calder. But if you think about it, Columbus is in 5th right now, last year they sucked, Mason changed it all around. But if you look at stats alone, Rinne is equally as good as Mason, it's just that as a team, Columbus >> Nashville. Thomas is probably going to get the Vezina. Even though he doesn't really deserve it. The Kipper should be a finalist, what goalie can play more games then he can? So what if he breaks down at times, the pressure on Kipper is immense compared to any other goalie.

I disagree, nearly 100% of the ice-team Malkin/Crosby get is even-strength, and on the power-play. Datsyuk and Zetterberg both are put into checking roles when needed, penalty kill, and receive less power-play time, since you got Franzen and Hossa on the next line. Both are way more complete then Malkin and Crosby. And really, Malkin has what, 70 assists? Who scored all those goals? Not Malkin, not Crosby. Malkin and Crosby are extremely over-rated, because the only players who can actually score are on the top-two lines, so whenever Pitts scores a goal, you know Malkin/Crosby is getting an assist. Franzen though should be kept, and really getting rid of Flipulla is probably not the best idea. Getting rid of Kronwall is a MUCH better idea because Ericcson can take his place instantly. Really, I would be extremely happy if both Stuart and Kronwall got moved so we could keep Sammy, Hudler, Franzen, Leino, Hossa and a decent goalie, perhaps Conklin. Ericcson, Meech or even Kindl can be top 6 D-men.

Detroit needs a 2-3 year goalie fix until Larsson or McCollum is ready. Howard is not ready. Boston will only sign one of the two of Manny Fernandez and Tim Thomas. Trade Kronwall for picks, and offer Fernandez (most likely) his 3 million cap hit. Ericcson takes Kronwalls spot (an upgrade really). s***, I should be a GM!!!

Osgood has blown a lot of games. Any back-up, even myself in net could do better then a 0.87 save%. Osgood is the worst goalie in the league, any back-up could of done better. THAT'S A FACT.
-
You would take either over Ozzy though.

No reason a player couldn't make a return just for a tournament (Olympics). Could you imagine if Hasek did train for the summer, and knocked out Canada on home ice. Hasek's performance in 1998 was probably the greatest performance by any goalie in any tournament.

Contract talks between Wings and Hossa, Franzen on hold
TheOwl replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Offense: Zetterberg (6) - Datsyuk (6.7) - Holmstrom (2.25) Flipulla (3) - Franzen (4) - Hudler (1.5) Cleary (2.8) - Sammy (1.5) - Leino (.975) Kopetcy (0.8) - Draper (1.583) - Maltby (.883) Defense: Lidstrom (7.45) - Stuart (3.75) Ralfaski (6) - Ericcson (.9) Meech (.5) - Lilja (1.25) Lebda (.650) Goalie: Osgood (1.417) Buy-Out Conklin (1.5) Howard (.7) TOTAL : 54.7 2 mil under the cap. All you have to do is trade Kronwall. Honestly, the team you just posted would barely make the play-offs, Howard and Osgood in goal? 3 rookie forwards, and Meech who's a D-man? No reason to blow up the team by losing Flipulla, Conklin, Franzen and one of Hudler/Sammy, just to keep Hossa. Hossa is not worth losing those 4 players, when we can easily replace Kronwall with Ericcson, and keep everyone. Think about it. Hudler and Sammy combined score more goals, more points then Hossa, why let two proven 50 point scorers leave, to keep a 80 point guy. Especially when Hossa will cost likely DOUBLE what Hudler and Sammy will take COMBINED. No point in signing Hossa to lose Flipulla, Sammy/Hudler. No reason. The Wings don't need another 6 million dollar player. The core is here. Get cheap proven 50 point/year scorers to fill the spaces for 2-3 million. If Franzen will take 3-4 million, it's a no brainer. Hossa is extremely over-rated, he's a top 20 forward in the league, maybe, but he's not worth losing these home grown players. Osgood and Howard is not the answer. What if we get knocked out in the first round? Unless we win the Cup, I guarantee Osgood won't be here next year. He's an extreme liability. Think about it, Hossa at 6, or Franzen at 3, Hudler 1.5, Sammy 1.5. What would you do? Even one of the two and Franzen is better then Hossa. -

If it comes down to not trading anyone, Franzen must be the one kept. Hossa even at 6 million is too much, we won't be able to keep ANYONE, not Leino, not Conks, not Sammy, not Leino. Here what you do. Ericsson is a beast. He's NHL ready, and he's out-performing Kronwall and Stuart. Andreas and Lebda make next to nothing as is, let them stay. Holland needs to trade one of the two, ask Stuart to waive NTC and trade him to a good team, Devils, Boston, Montreal, somewhere he'll be happy, if not, get rid of Kronwall. I love them both. But I love the idea of cheap Ericcson a lot more. This guy is a top 6 for sure, now. Detroit is WASTING these guys away in Grand Rapids. OK, get rid of Kronwall or Stuart, you get around 3 million in cap space. Sign Franzen, Hossa at a combined 9 million. Hossa 5.5, Franzen 3.5, long term. Holland then has around 4 million for a second goalie, 3 forwards. Goalie can be got for around 1 million, a Conklin type guy. Use the other 4 million short term contracts to sign 3 more forwards, Leino at 1 million, Hudler or Sammy at 2 million, and some other GR guy for the minimum. At least with Hudler we get picks if he won't take 2 million. Once Lidstrom contract goes away, give Hudler a raise if he'll play cheap next season. The point really is, we have NHL ready D-men, we don't have any real top-6, or really top-9 forwards at all in the system. Get rid of Kronwall or Stuart, use their cap space to sign Franzen, straight up. Even Meech is NHL ready. Get rid of both. Wings need cheap D-rookies to make room for these perhaps once-in-a-decade forwards. Where's the next Franzen in Grand Rapids? Where's the next Hossa? You would all do it. -
What game were you watching, that last game was vintage Osbad, out of position, tentative, lack of confidence. That game exactly like the majority of his other bad games. Conklin is solid, he should be the man.
-
Franzen's been a beast this game.
-
Beautiful pass by the MULE!
-
They are! They have 40 shots!
-
Osgood would of never made that save.
-
Detroit makes these teams look like their 10 time undefeated consecutive cup-champs. Edmonton isn't that good.
-
Let Hossa walk, we need a goaltender.
-
Osgood's fault. 100%
