The Wings need a shot-block coach. Crappy teams block more shots in a night then they let go into the goalie. Block those shots!
-
Yes, you are right. But also very wrong. By in large the Wings goaltending and D have been terrible in nearly every game, I would say, over 70%. And yes, the Wings still do win a huge number of games. BUT the point is, in the play-offs, goaltending tends to win more series then just scoring. If Mason, or Rinne, or basically any guy goes on a 2-3 game hot streak, Wings are out. The Wings have won every single game by pure out-scoring opponents, not by shutting them down defensively, and as we've seen nearly every year, that's not how to win a Cup.

I think the lack of shots was really just the game-plan for the 3rd. Lock them down, and trap. It back fired big big big time.

This should be a wake up call for Babcock. No matter who's in net, if Detroit doesn't stay on offense, they'll lose.

NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

For all the complaining we all do, you have got to admit that Wings games are always exciting. Nevermind, stupid Wings!!!!!!!!
-
Thats what we get for purposely not playing offensive for an entire period. By now it should be obvious the only thing the Wings can do is out-score opponents.
-
This is a very important game. Calgary unlike the rest of the bottom feeders we've been playing for the last little while, could be real competition in the western semifinals.
-
Stuart was beyond useless on that play.

Then why does Conklin have some of the better numbers in the league, and superior numbers to Ozzie? A team with a horrible defense doesn't let in 7 goals, no matter what. So here's the question, was Columbus's D that good, or was Mason that good last night? It all comes down to goaltending. Blaming it on the defense is one thing, but remember, it's the goaltender that stops the puck. Osgood looked terrible last night. And in what exact way does it appear his head is back on straight? He had to stop 20 shots, he let 7 in. That's the facts.
-
Seeing that we can't beat Nashville or Columbus, and play them twice each, we should all ignore what San Jose is doing. Osgood couldn't stop a beach ball let alone out play Rinne or Mason.
-
A goaltenders job, more or less, is to cover for his team-mates mistakes. Every mistake a Wing makes, turns into a goal. Osgood's bad play has been exposed now that theirs no one to bail him out. Is Johan Hedberg a good goalie? Last time I checked, his team is awful, plays awful, makes oodles of mistakes, and even he doesn't let in 7 goals. And this is no isolated incident, Osgood has been letting in 4, 5, 6 goals in almost every game he plays. Stop with the bulls***. Osgood sucks. He's sucked nearly every game this season, and it is no ones fault but his. Look at Conklins stats. Last time I checked, he plays in front of the exact same people. Listen you kids, Osgood is bad. Really bad. The worst goalie in the league right now. No one in 5 years has had a save% as bad as his. So please, stop calling me a hater. I'm right. 100% right. Stats don't lie. He's bad. And I'm not going to be blind to the facts.
-
The poor goaltending of Osgood is also going to cost Datsyuk the Selke, and the top +/- in the league.
-
Come on man. How many horrible games has Conklin had this year? 2-3? How many bad games has Osgood has this year? 20-25? Conklins stats are top-10 in the league. Osgood's stats are the worst in the league. Now please, explain how Osgood > Conklin. That's right. I thought so. No need to respond.

Hasek's stats were actually nearly identical to Osgoods in the 2007-08 season. Even his play-offs stats far surpass Osgood's stats in this years regular season. Hasek is a legend.

This sounds pretty funny after watching tonight's game.
-
Imagine if the Wings had a goalie half as good as Mason?
-
What's really funny is, Osgood has had a lot of games like this, this season. This should not be surprising.

Hopefully this will be the last time we ever see Osgood in net again. Bye Osgood, thanks for the memories.
