Ozzy sucks, it's a forgone conclusion. One stat that really spoke to me was blocked shots in the first 2 periods, something like 3 Detroit, 18 Washington. The Wings rarely block a shot, and bringing in some younger guys who can take those shots, would be a good idea. BLOCK MORE SHOTS.

Don't you all think it's about time to give up on this whole notion that certain players will simply get magically better in the play-offs? Holland has to make some moves. Trade away Kopetsky, Flipulla would be a good start. Kronwall looks brutal. Flipulla and Kronwall to Toronto for Kaberle!! Get it done Kenny! Conklin looked OK today though. Not great though. Leino and Abby should stay in the line up. Move the complete dead weight in Flipulla and Kopetsky. Two very, very completely and utterly useless players.
-
Listen junior, I understand your frustration, but Osgood sucks. Calm down.
-
Why does Babs keep playing Ozzie? He sucks. 4 goals every game.
-
Osgood and Flipulla both suck, trade them for 7th round draft picks. Get rid of Kronwall too, he's visibly the weakest D-man we got right now.
-
I'd rather have the Mule. For one, he'll be cheaper. Second, he's an uber clutch player, leads the team in 3rd period goals, game winning goals, etc. Third, he's bigger, more physical. Fourth, we made this guy, he's ours, plus he's Swedish. And he works better with the whole vibe of the team. We don't have another player like Franzen, ie. Power Forward. Plus he fills a very important position on the second power play unit, where Homer would be. Sammy is also very important to this team, so he should be re-signed as well. Let Flipulla go, use the cap space to sign Hudler. Leino should be for sure in the future, so keep him. Lebda can go, Kindl can take his place. And Conklin should be re-signed. Osgood and Howard as the goalies for next year. In all honestly, I doubt we would make the play-offs with these two guys, no matter how many goals we score.
-
For arguments sake, Hudler and Franzen for a combined 7 million (that's pushing it), or Hossa for 7 million? You could probably throw Conklin in their with Hudler/Franzen as well. Look at the cap! Just look at it! With Z signing for 7 million, the Wings have about 7 million of space left. That's 7 million for a back-up goalie, and 5!! forwards. The Wings are going to find it nearly impossible to even sign the second big UFA for a decent number. It becomes perfectly obvious Flipulla and some currently signed player must go. Flipulla's salary could easily just be used to sign 3 rookie's contracts. Flipulla must go for the Wings to even have a chance to sign Franzen or Hossa.

Now is the perfect time to pick up a goaltender. Teams like Boston, Anaheim, Columbus, New Jersey etc are swimming in goalies, great starters, and seemingly equally good back-ups. Although Detroit does have 2 great AHL goalies in Larrson and that other guy. Conklin is a steal though if we can keep him for like 2 million. Or what about Fernandez or Thomas, both will want a raise next season. Pick up one of those guys. Lots of options for Holland in that department.

It was mad boring. The AHL skills comp is way better. More events, better events. I found all the NHL ones boring, and very straight forward. I remember they used to have a relay sort of thing, where the goalie at then end would have to score a goal from across the ice. The shoot-out elimination was the only good part, but also was done poorly. Everyone should have to shoot against the same goalie in each round. Good thing Savard didn't win, Thomas handed it to him.

Do people in Kansas even like hockey? Vegas isn't as important, as people will pay to see anything, and seeing a hockey game in the middle of the desert seems like something they'd pay for. Seattle seems like a great choice, due to it's close proximity to Calgary, Vancouver, Minnesota and Edmonton. That would make a much better NorthWest division. Colorado could move into the Central if Nashville goes under, or the Pacific is Phoenix goes under.

How are the Wings going to fill the roster? So you'll have Stuart, Chelios, Kronwall, Rafa, Lebda, Lilja, then Meech plays forward, so will they have to double shift one forward? What is Franzen can't play? Anyways, I'll be amazed if Detroit wins without Dats, and Lidstrom. This will be a key game for Zetterberg, if he can't get it done, if he can't lead this team to victory, then Holland should seriously consider keeping Hossa and Franzen (the two leading goal scorers). A huge character game for a potential future captain in Zetterberg.

I live in Vancouver and am forced every day of my life to not say bad things about the Canucks. I've never seen such a bad team with so many utterly blind supporters. Their terrible, and probably the most unexciting team in hockey, they rarely score more then 2 goals a game, and trap (and fail) in almost every game. Seriously, I was a Canuck fan (well a Bure fan) for like 10 years, then my eyes opened, no point in cheering for a team which will never succeed. Really, the two most exciting teams in the NHL are Detroit, and Washington.

I've never been so bored in my life watching this skills competition. This is the best the NHL can do? Bad music, bad entrances by the players, boring fastest skating, boring breakaway challenge. Suicide is the only way out.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...yuk_nickla.html What the f***. Neither guy in any of the competitions? What is wrong with the NHL these days.... Both should just take the week completely off and stick it to the NHL.

I love Swedish people, and their accents! Why does Sammy get so much hate around here, for what he gets paid, yall should be much more forgiving!!
-
Give him until the trade deadline, if he gets better, keep him, if he gets worse, trade him. The Wings need to get some rookies going late this season and next season, can't keep all these guys. Might as well trade him to get something at least. The money could be put to much much better uses, like a goalie, or keeping 2 of the 3 big UFA's, or just give the money to Hudler and Sammy. I would cry if we lost Leino, getting rid of Flipulla and his big salary and replacing him with Leino on the 3rd/4th line straight up would be a great experiment. He's basically a cheap, and free 1st round draft pick. Don't waste it!!

I wish the game was purely stats based. I'm a big fan of stats, if I could, I would stare at game sheets hours a day. The stats don't lie, the stats are unbiased. Fans on the other hand, are biased, and most are pretty stupid. Just stick the players with the best stats as the all-stars. Maybe this wouldn't work, maybe it would. But I hate the fact that players having off years still make the all-star game purely on reputation alone. It actually kind of bothers me no Wing will be in the All-star game based on principle. I'll probably watch it because it's on at a convenient time, but other then that, I don't care who scores, who wins. It's mad meaningless. More then that, this year, half the players actually playing, kind of suck really. Why the hell does Anaheim have 4 players in the game? They suck, and are playing awful. I mean, sure the fans voted these guys in, but 4 players, 4? 4? 4? 4? 4? Come on, give me a break for once. I don't want to watch a bunch of washed up Anaheim players. I also don't want to watch Malkin, Crosby and their awful goalie play. How the hell does a team have two leading scorers and a team in 10th place. This is not an All-star game at all. San Jose versus Detroit last weekend was the real all-star game. Maybe it has something to do with me hating every team in the East. I just cheer for Florida because I want to see Crying Crosby and his team of losers miss the play-offs. Ovechkin at least is someone to cheer for. Other then that, how could anyone get excited about this game? They should at least make it mildly interesting by having NA versus the World. What's to cheer for? The fans, and the NHL have made a mockery of this once exciting event.

^ I think it's obvious to everyone, and hopefully one day Babcock, that Hossa and Zetterberg don't play well together. Seems like the majority of their points are on the powerplay when their split up. As mentioned above, Zetterberg and Datsyuk should be playing together again with Homer. Franzen doesn't need Datsyuk half as bad as Zetterberg does right now. Franzen will get it done no matter where he is. Hossa can play with Franzen and Cleary.
-
Datsyuk is not the problem. He did his job, 2 great passes, leading to 2 goals, 2 A's and a +/- of 0. How much can one man do? He did his job. Where was Zetterberg getting us back in this game? -4. Where was Hossa getting us back in this game? -3, and a brutal give away. It can't be Datsyuk every night, these other two "superstars" played like Tampa Bay 4th liners tonight. Datsyuk deserves some absent periods. At least his line didn't give away any goals tonight. That says it all right their.
-
You know Phoenix is 5th in the West right now, their a pretty solid team. But a lot of Wings (most Wings) have a lot of explaining to do with this horrible performance.
-
That would be nice. But the D is floundering right now, it's exposing the mediocre goaltending.
-
F*** no! -4. Not even that, ignore this game. How many games has Zetterberg dominated this season? Datsyuk is 4th in league scoring after this night. How does Zetterberg deserve a cent more? Pfft, let him leave if he wants more then that.
-
I actually feel good after this loss. This team is nothing without Dats and Lidstrom. Zetterberg minus 4? Pffft.
-
How's Zetterberg going to possibly walk into Kenny's office and ask for more then Datsyuk after this performance?
-
This wouldn't be happening if Johan was playing. Re-sign the MULE! He wouldn't be -3 tonight!
