We should put Meech in goal, he's already playing D and forward.
-
Yeah Conklin isn't losing this game for us, the horrible D and HORRIBLE 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines are.
-
Zetterberg and Hossa, -3. Good work guys.
-
WTF WAS THAT?
-
Trade everyone! Except Dats, Homer, Rafa and Lidstrom. Everyone else is expendable! Zetterberg and Hossa have no chemistry together, one must be promoted to the 1st line. Franzen can play with anyone, he doesn't need Dats to score.
-
^ It's all these damn powerplays! What the hell is going on!!!!!!!!!! Any game where Datsyuk gets a penalty should be reviewed by the league. These refs don't know what's going on.
-
Gretz made a huge mistake becoming a coach. It just looks awkward seeing him their. But unlike almost every person who's succedded in the world, no matter how bad he does in his coaching career, his legacy will stay intact. He would make a much better GM.
-
HOMER? THE GREATEST WING OF ALL TIME!!!!! We don't need Zetterberg or Hossa. Just 4 Datsyuk's, 4 Homers and 4 Lidstroms!!
-
Can't really blame Conklin for this. Two horrible give aways, crazy amount of PK's. And it's 3 goals, maybe if Conklin lets in 5 or 6 like Ozzy on a nightly basis we can complain.
-
Just quadruple shift Datsyuk, 60 minutes a game. Z and Hossa are -2 tonight EDIT: Did the announcer just say Zetterberger? Sounds tasty.
-
Nice one Hossa, giving up a 3 on 1! This game is a melt-down!
-
I was just kidding guys, I was joining in on the over-reacting that goes on here on a gamely basis
-
Kronwall is playing terribly, trade him!!!!
-
RE-SIGN SAMMY!
-
Why the **** isn't NHL game center working right now. Says, sign in not available right now, what a waste of money!
-
^ I'd bet any amount of money Hudler stays. It would be nice to get something for one of these big free agents though.
-
6.7 million for 5 years is what he deserves, hopefully he won't ask for more.
-
haha Agreed, but I like to elaborate a bit more. Rafalski is currently 4th in the league in defense scoring, 4 more points then Lidstrom. Flipulla, yes, he is over-paid and is 3 million could be put to much better uses. Stuart and Kronwall aren't having a great year so far, but how could you possibly get two better D-men for their combined 6 million, seeing how hugely important they were last year in the play-offs. Flipulla is the only person the Wings could let go, and replace with a better forward. Maltby, Ozzy and Draper although not playing well at all can't be traded, it would be a huge insult to them. Their all basically career red Wings. I would like to see all 3 retire after this season to let 3 rookies into the roster for next season. Can a player retire while under contract, and not be a cap hit?

That was a little different. He was the back-up, then Hasek melted down. They were both equally solid in the regular season, so they road him to the end, and he did play amazing. He rose to the occasion when their was no alternative. I think this year will be exactly the same, they'll go with Osgood for a few games, a melt down will occur, and they'll ride the "back-up" Conklin. It's not like Osgood just had a bad game, he's had a few dozen bad games this season. He's practically last in the league in SV% and GAA, bottom 5. You could call it a slump, but a half season long slump is a little extreme. Conklin on the other hand is in the top 10 in all those categories. Ride a top 10 goalie? Or hope a bottom 5 goalie will get better. Conklin is playing better then Luongo at this point, much better. He's a keeper. It's the same damn team, with two goaltenders playing at complete opposites of the spectrum. Why keep going back to Ozzy? Even Ozzy at his best wouldn't be playing better then how Conklin is now.
-
I don't see why Luongo is always referred to as the best goalie in the world. The Canucks suck, and have always sucked. Florida sucks, and have always sucked. He's never won a Vezina or been that close, or lead the lead in SV% or GAA. He's accomplished fairly little to be called the best goalie in the world. He's been in the playoffs once? Sure he's been on mediocre teams, but look at Mason, or Thomas, Kipper, Backstrom, etc etc etc. I don't know, I'm pretty sure the best goalie in the world would be enough to take a mediocre team into the play-offs every year. He's good, can be good, but everyone says he's the best, and I have no idea in the world stats wise, or simply performance wise, why. I live in Vancouver and don't understand the hype.

The fact that the team is playing well, has a few star players, and will probably make the play-offs says it all. The team could probably win the Cup and still not sell out. Team should be moved to Vegas, Seattle or Hamilton or Winnipeg or anywhere with actual hockey fans. Look at the Wild, new team, isn't doing fantastic, and they sell out every game in their history. Obviously since the team can't be moved to a city in such a small window, they should just remove it from the league, and another team from the East, to 28 total teams, for next season. Maybe Tampa, maybe Florida or Carolina. Either way, losing 2 teams for a few seasons would be good for the league until they can find 2 better cities down the road. Less crap teams = higher salary cap, more quality players in a smaller amount of teams.
-
^ That's exactly why he played Ozzie, but it back fired big time. How many more chances can you give him? The problem with Ozzy is, he's un-tradable and still has 2 years on his contract. They should just buy it out over the post season if Conklin becomes the man in the play-offs. It must be mad frustrating for the forwards who play huge every game, scoring the most goals in the league, and come out short due to bad goaltending. The Wings have the opposite problem to most teams in the league, they never have trouble scoring, but their goalie (Osgood) can never make a timely save. Just get in a decent goalie for a few million. The D can't stop the puck everytime, and when you're goalie lets in consistantly 3+ goals a game, no wonder they have no confidence in front of him.

It'll take a major blunder for San Jose or Detroit not to make it to the finals. Vancouver is really weak, same with Anaheim. The only other "threats" could be Calgary or Chicago. It's impossible to predict the match-ups though, since everything is so tight in the West. The East isn't wide open at all, it's basically Florida, Carolina, Pittsburgh and Buffalo fighting for the last two spots, the top 6 is basically set.
-
Uhhh, 11th in goals this season? 13 goals, and 5 assists in 16 games last years playoffs? 2nd in goals this year for the Wings. And how has Franzen peaked? He just started getting good 8 months ago. He peaked and dropped off into mediocrity in 8 months? Maybe the fact he's scored more goals in that time frame then any other Wing? You guys are freaking crazy. Have you even seen some of the insane goals he's scored? Flipulla isn't a quarter of the player Franzen currently is. Not to mention he fits in perfectly with the team, and is physical. Anyone who would take Flipulla over Franzen is an idiot. Holland would be crazy not to keep Franzen if he would sign for 4-5 million. Flipulla is dead weight, give his salary to someone who isn't insanely under performing for his entire career.
-
He should? He should and deserves 5 million, for someone on pace for 40 goals, second behind Hossa. He's a much better and more valuable then Flipulla who makes way too much.
