I'm not talking about a 5 million dollar a year goalie, I'm talking about a goalie who can at least stop the damn puck. Look at our D tonight, was it strong, or did the goalie just suck? What team in the league right now is excelling without a decent starting goalie? None. Look at Boston, they get Thomas for basically nothing, and will win the Vezina in all likely hood. Defense is completely meaningless if your goalie gives up 3+ goals every night. And you're kidding yourself if you wouldn't trade Kronwall or Stuart for someone like Backstrom, or Thomas. The D is strong, and the puck still goes in the net way too much. You have no idea what your talking about if you think Detroit is going to get buy and win anymore Cups in the next few years if Osgood is the best we got. Conklin though is a #1 goalie, and should be signed long term.

Usually a funk only lasts a few games, but Osgood has been playing bad since the first game of the season. He has no excuse to play bad. And he's right now the worst in the league (well tied for worst in the league) in SV%. And he plays for the Wings! He's been given ample time and rest to fix his game, and he hasn't. Time to rid Conklin (who's a top 10 goalie in this league at least) to the very end, and let Osgood play every 5 games as any back-up would.

lol Theirs no way he could of stopped that 5th goal! I love how people try and defend him. How many times have we said that this season? 6 goals? Come on. Osgood looks small, he looks slow, he rarely makes a good save. Just send him to the minors for a dozen games, or bench him. He's playing awful.

Hasek has never had a terrible season, and whether or not he was playing fantastic last year is meaingless seeing that he didn't let in 3 goals + every game. Sign Hossa, sign Zetterberg, and get a decent goalie, or just sign Conklin, buyout Osgood's contract, and bring up a minor leaguer. The defense isn't really to blame this game. A bad D doesn't let in 6 goals.

No they didn't, sure they are good, but Osgood has been terrible this game. They've shown to the world their better then the Wings with Ozzy in net.

Osgood really is worthless now, can't be traded, and won't get better. 45 games in, hope should be faded.

Good thinking. Realistically, trading Spezza for Leclaire and a 1st round pick straight up would be a great deal. Ottawa completely sucks, they need a goalie more then any other team, and they could use their 2 first round picks to draft 2 D men and free up some huge cap room.

Columbus is a damn good team, but they need scoring. They got 3 quality goaltenders in Mason, Norrina, and LeClaire. I don't understand why they don't try and trade one of them to a team like Ottawa for a top 6 forward. Ottawa needs to shed salary and needs a goalie, Blue Jackets need a quality forward. It'll happen, or both teams will probably miss the playoffs. Mason alone can't get this team winning on a consistent basis.

4-1 Sharks. Always predict a loss. Then if the Wings lose, you're right so you're happy, but if they win, you're happy because they won, and you forget you were wrong. Works every time.

Leino must play!! Of all the forwards in Grand Rapids, he has the brightest potential of being a 1st or 2nd liner in a few years.

Franzen works perfectly into the system though and has proven he's a 35-40 goal a year scorer, not just a fluke. However, I think he fits into the category of needing great players around him, like Sammy or Holmstrom. Who knows what he'll sign for, but losing Hossa wouldn't be as huge a blow as everyone thinks. Once Zetterberg gets his raise, he'll be back on track for 90 points in no time. Hopefully Conklin, Sammy and Hudler will all sign for a combined 5 million or so. Either way, Flipulla must go. 3 million for what were getting isn't spectacular seeing that we might lose Franzen and Hossa. Flipulla is showing no signs he will be a future star. But really, all this re-signing players isn't helping the future. The longer the minor leaguers have to wait, the better chance they'll be let go, like Quincy. We might just lose the next big star hanging on too these current guys. Hopefully the Wings will have at least 2-3 rookies next season, Kindl etc. Leino might also prove to be a big mistake if he doesn't get to play soon. We basically got a first rounder for nothing, with a short window of opportunity.

Trade Flipulla, Osgood, Kopetsky and a few draft picks for him.
