It's a meaningless event at the skill competition at least. Here's a good idea, let the other all-star players not taking part in the Breakaway challenge pick the winner. At least their not inherently biased and actually know what's difficult and what's not.

The Swedes are convincing him to stay Hopefully it won't be a 10 year deal. It's too much risk, sign him for 5 years at like 7 or whatever million, then they have the option to just extend at a later date.

Babby, give Conks the start versus San Jose
-
OH OH SHARKS LOSE! At home, and in regulation. Good work Flames!
-
Does anyone think Lidstrom will resign for cheap? Backstrom I think would be a great fit for next year. A rock solid goalie would totally secure this team. Conklin should be resigned though if he's willing to stay for 1 million a season though.
-
More importantly then the score, finally the 4th line has something to be really proud of. Huge confidence boost to Maltby and Draper

I'd beat lots of money The Coyotes will be moved to Vegas in the next 3 seasons. It's the perfect town for hockey.

Zetterberg denies report of rejecting 10yr, $75 million deal.
TheOwl replied to rage's topic in General
Hudler must be re-signed for a long-term deal. He's a steal, and is producing amazing numbers. No wonder Zetterberg denies rejecting this offer, he would be a complete moron not to take it. I've always been a huge Zetterberg fan, but if he wants more then 6.7 million a season, let him go. Theirs plenty of more players who would gladly take a discount to play with the Wings. Does Zetterberg deserve over 7.5 million? He's not exactly putting up numbers like Datsyuk or Hossa, or any other star player around the league. He's playing good, but not 7.45 million a season good. I think it'll come down to resigning Hudler for 3 million, Sammy for 2 million, Flipulla getting traded, Franzen for around 5, and either Hossa or Zetterberg for 6.7. Sammy and Hudler are really key pieces of the team, and losing Zetterberg or Hossa doesn't mean the team will be worse. It'll just mean more pressure on the other dozen people who can actually score. Even if Zetterberg and Hossa both leave, the Wings still would be an elite team. They would have cap space to bring in a star goalie, and another second line forward. The other problem is, the Wings got no rookies. Maybe one or two big players leaving would give some Grand Rapids kids to get their start finally. I really don't understand why these players turn down discounts. I mean, is their a huge difference between making 6.7 million and 7.45 million a season? Is that really a huge difference over the course of a 15-20 season career? It's just money. -
Perhaps, but not this season. Look at the goals Datysuk has scored. He's played miles better then Z in almost every area of the game. They should put them back together for sure. Hossa can play with Franzen and Cleary.

I hate how every single hockey expert drools over Leclavalier and Crosby. Two very over-paid players.
-
Homer is one of the better players on the team, getting rid of him for cap space isn't the greatest idea. Either way, Flipulla has to go. And honestly, I don't see Conklin leaving. Howard isn't a #1, and Larsson and that other guy aren't near ready for the NHL. Osgood can't be the go to guy either. We all want to keep Franzen, Hossa and Z obviously. But wouldn't you rather have a real #1 goalie? Wild's Backstrom for a long-term deal would be well worth losing Hossa.
-
Kopecky is so useless in every area of the game. Draper can at least win face-offs and kill powerplays. They should send him to the minors, call up Leino with the extra cap space. At least we know he can score once and a while.
-
Sure "they" were playing. But without the fans, people like him, and you, their wouldn't be any "they". We have every right to criticize these players.
-
The top line right now doesn't seem have great chemistry either. Franzen and Homer play a too similar style. Zetterberg should be back on the top line.
-
All is true. However Datysuk and Homer need to play together, and I doubt Franzen and Hossa would play that well together. Even still, if Zetterberg can't produce without Datsyuk, he ain't worth more then 6.7 million. Is it even possible to send any of the 4th liners to Grand Rapids to bring other people up? Wouldn't be a bad time to give other people some time, since Kopetsky and company are wasting their opportunity.
-
Datysuk was +3, 3 points. Pffft, Hossa and Zetterberg don't deserve a penny more then Pavel. He's better then both those 2 by miles.
-
Some big games coming up, this doesn't give good vibes.
-
4th line was horrible tonight, just awful. Osgood did all he could though, not really his fault.
-
This is by far the most exciting game of this regular season!
-
hahaha "That was like sourcery." These Versus announcers are hilarious.
-
So much for a fresh start in the 3rd, double MINOR :(
-
HOLY CRAP! Osgood is BACK
-
NOOOOOOOO
-
haha He does shoot it pretty hard, although it's usually way off the net This is a damn exciting game!

Ilya Kovalchuk has a bad attitude, but he is playing for a team with no hope. He is one of the best goal scorers in the league, I bet he'll be in Minnesota next season, where he could excel.
