The system is pretty good right now. Although I don't think overtime should be sudden death. Just have 5 full minutes of 4v4. Basically whoever gets the first powerplay in OT wins the game. 4v3 can't be that hard to score. And really I wish they would remove 2nd assists like they do in the Russian elite league. Maybe Crosby and Malkin won't get 3 assists every night for basically doing nothing. But the problem with changing anything is it deflates or inflates the stats of teams or players playing now versus years ago.

Something tells me Stuart or Rafalski will be gone to make eventual cap room. 6 million is way too much, so is Stuarts 3.5 or whatever. A lot of teams have 2 solid goalies that they rotate. Chicago has the biggest problem, but Huet and Bulin both make way too much money. I was thinking something more like Stuart for Montreal's #2 Halak, or get one of the overachieving goalies from Florida or Nashville. Conklin is a #1 goalie, so is Osgood, but their both playing no where close to last year. Maybe adding some new faces would fit the bill. We should also get Kronwall's brother from Toronto, have a all Kronwall defensive pair. Hudler is a RFA and will be a lot easier to sign for a lesser amount then trading Flippula, which may be a bad idea. Stuart is the most expendable person Detroit has, and possibly most attractive.

If he hates him so much, why did he get the 4th shot in the shootout over Hossa. Perhaps because Hossa missed the net a lot yesterday. But I don't see why signing Hudler for 3 million next season is impossible. For someone averaging a point a game, 3 million is well worth it. I doubt he would ask for more.

Franzen and Hossa are both great goal scorers, need Flippula on that line to set them up.

After watching Zetterberg and Franzen bail us out major tonight, I don't see how keeping Hossa over either would be productive. Assume they sign Zetterberg, Hossa will want at least the same. Franzen on the other hand will probably only get 4 million, leaving 3-4 million to sign Hudler and Sammy. Keeping both Zetterberg and Hossa seems impossible, they'll have zero money to even fill roster spots. Zetterberg > Hossa, any day.

^ I see your point. Maybe trade Franzen *tear* then. Theirs no point in not trading one of the three. Especially since the Wild needs scoring, and equally bad, we need a goalie. I don't see the wings winning this thing this year. If you look at the Sharks, Penguins or any top team, they all got a quality goalie.

Detroit better win, free points up for grabs. If Chicago can kill these guys 6-3, no reason we can't.

Trade Hossa and Conklin to the Wild for Backstrom at the trade deadline. Zetterberg, Hudler, Sammy and Franzen all need to stay. Might as well get something for Hossa who will want the most money and get a solid goalie for the playoffs. They'll never be able to sign Franzen, Hossa and Z. Seeing that almost everyone would agree Zetterberg needs to stay, and Franzen will get probably 4-5 million. Hossa gets to play with his fellow slovak Gaborik, Detroit gets a great goalie for a long term deal. Can't sign all 3, theirs no reason not to get a top goalie (something we need) rather then basically wasting a top 3 forward through UFA.

But we have looked bad nearly every game this year. They've looked good in every game this year. Plus their team is sustainably better then last year. We hardly changed things up at all except Hossa. Nothing has changed since last year, yet we're playing 10x worse. Maybe it was a fluke last year, we had easy draws up to the penguins. It's time to change something, get some new people in, and some people out. The 4th line has been awful this season. Get Helm and Leino in their.

The defense will come with time, I have no idea why Babby is mixing up the lines so much. If you can't score, defense is meaningless. Keep the lines together, and keep them through the bad and good. The all star games teaches us, good players with no chemistry together won't score. Keep the lines the same. PLEASE

Look at Boston, or Washington, or San Jose. Every game, 5:1, 5:2. Detroit loses to the worst team in the league. Time to get rid of some of these slackers. Their all expentable, trade Datysuk, trade Hossa, trade them all. Every game another poor effort.

This is a horrible idea. How many trades do we see these days? How many multiple player trades do we see these days? No one would take Osgood even for free. I think you're whole idea was to somehow get Backstrom, which is a good idea. Realistically Stuart is the most expendable loss. 3.75 million, and he ain't playing well at all. If it means keeping Franzen, Hossa and Zetterberg, it would be well worth losing Stuart and Rafalski. I mean 6 million for Rafalski? That's a pretty steep price. Plus Hudler and Sammy need to stay obviously. How could we possibly replace such cheap key players. Conklin also should stay for a Osgood back-up until Ozzy's contract runs out. Howard might not be the answer. If it means trading Stuart for a goalie like Anderson (Florida) or Rimme (Nashville) then it'll be worth it long term.

How could the Stars have cap issues with all those stars out for such long periods of time. Stick those guys on LTIR.

They need a euro goalie. Imagine if the wings had Backstrom from the Wild. Howard isn't the answer...
