Holland screwed the whole thing up, he should of rented Semin for a season at 6 million instead of wasting cap space. Wings can't score. Flipulla and Helm will help the situation, but still need a another top 6 forward. Let Gustav be that guy, and get rid of Cleary, Abs, Sammy and Bertuzzi. Bunch of injured, unreliable, or lazy bums. Those three of the four should be gone next season, keep one of Sammy or Bert, haven't seen enough of them to make a decision.

I totally agree. The Wings would easily make the play-offs with the roster above. Rafalski was a liability for most of the season. He's slow, pinched way to often, and gave up way too many odd-man rushes. Replacing him with almost anyone in the system would be a positive step forward. Brad Stuart could replace him on the powerplay. The Wings spend way too much money on a team of mediocre defense-men. The Wings were awful defensively 80% of the season. Why spend 1/3 of the cap on defense if the defense sucks? If the Wings can't get one of the UFA Canuck defense men, they should hang onto the cap money, and spend it on a forward (5 million/yr). Wings need another top 6 forward. The defense will sort itself out, we spend enough on D.

Lidstrom +7? That has to be a record for the all-star game. That's unreal. Rafalaksi and 1st round draft choice for Weber! Get'er done Kenny.
-
The Islanders are looking like fools, of course Nabokov wouldn't want to play for them, and now Garth Snow is acting like he's the victim, the "good guy". The whole thing is ridiculous. Nabby doesn't want to play for the Islanders, Snow knew this, so they shouldn't of claimed him.
-
Can't Nabokov just declare he won't report to any team but the Wings? Is that against the rules? At least he would clear waivers. The Islanders look like a joke here.
-
For a team that's 29-12, and missing about a 1/3 of their roster (salary wise), some of you sure complain a lot.
-
Lidstrom being a captain might make this ASG worth watching! Woot!
-
Ovechkin is done for this year I think. He might hit 35 goals, but even he'll be disappointed with that. He's been figured out, he can't get open, everyone knows hes going to shoot. He always shoots. He'll come back next year with 50 goals. But in general, the Capitals suck. That Fleishmann trade was a bad idea!
-
Lidstrom's plus minus I don't think reflects his poorer defensive play, it seems like it's his line-mates on the ice who make the mistakes. I haven't seen a goal this season where you could say "Lidstrom's fault".
-
Lidstrom should boycott this joke. Fans should not be voting for the All-stars at all. It should be based on STATS. And why does Chicago get 3 forwards? They are a mediocre team now, who will likely barely make the play-offs. This thing is a joke.
-
How could anyone have watched last nights game and not think Lidstrom should win the Norris. He's been doing it all year long. Points should be almost irrelevant.
-
Stopping ex-Red Wing Sammy from (potentially) scoring is worth taking a penalty!
-
Yes, but the Wings are missing 1/6 of their team in terms of salary. And really, a win is a win. Edmonton has some good players, and they can play well.

Quadruple shift? It's a team game. It's ridiculous to quadruple shift him just so he can keep his precious little scoring streak alive. Now seriously, I will admit, he is the best scorer in the game. But he is not the best player, nor is he as great as everyone thinks. I'm a Canadian, and it SICKENS me everytime they show him scoring that goal in the Olympics this year. Crosby's stats are inflated because he only plays 5-5 or on the powerplay, and the majority of the Eastern conference teams suck. What bugs me the most is the Pittsburgh Penguins in general. The team tanked for half a dozen seasons, almost went into bankruptcy, and what does the NHL do? Here, here you go, here's Malkin, Staal, Crosby and Fleury. You deserve them for all those years of poor management and shotty GMing. The NHL should not award horrible teams with the best picks. With the salary cap now in place, any team who misses the play-offs should have an EQUAL shot at the #1 draft pick.

I'm wrong? This season: 8 GP, 3W, 3L. Sv%: .895, GAA: 2.84 Which is good for like 40th in the league. You can't call this "good".
-
The Wings are only 6 points from 9th in the West. If the Wings go .500% for the next month, we'll be out of a play-off spot.
-
Osgood hasn't played well since the Wings lost Game 7 to Pittsburgh. Last season he had some of the worst stats any goalie has had in the past 10 years. This year, he's looking the same. Osgood is not a competent back-up.
-
The Wings should have no trouble going 6:4:2 or something without Dats. But on paper, the Wings should still be winning most games. I mean, Hudler and Flipulla aren't performing to even half their potentials.
-
Rafalski gets a lot of points, but he is TERRIBLE defensively. The last 3 games I've watched, I could pin down 4 goals which were 100% his fault. Osgood and Rafalksi should both retire after this season. Rafalski's 6 million cap hit could be used much more effectively.
-
hahaha I knew this would happen.
-
Rafalski for Semin! Get it done Kenny!
-
How certain are you that the Wings will get Ozzy his 400th?
TheOwl replied to under_par_00's topic in General
Dallas is by far better then Chicago this season. I doubt they'll win. The Wings in general have really have been playing poorly lately. The top line is really the only scoring line right now. Flipulla and Hudler are sort of tanking their lines. Secondary scoring is looking pretty weak the last 10 games. -
GO WINGS!

They screwed up last year with the All-Star voting. How can they possibly let a person vote multiple times. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be fired.
