This is pretty much what I meant when I said I don't think teams would dive if the refs did their jobs. There'd be no reason to. They'd call a hook when there's a hook. They'd call the trip if there was a trip. When they start consistently letting this s*** go, the players start diving when it happens to draw attention to it. That's just how I see it, anyway.

I think I understand the sentiment underneath those comments. They came into this series trying to play Red Wings finesse hockey. When the Red Wings outhit the Ducks - you know something is off with their physical-meter. It's really the same way I feel when we try to play aggressive/physical hockey. It's not that we can't.. it's that we're not good at mixing that in with our finesse game. We tend to lose focus on scoring. It seems to me their general feeling over there is that the Ducks needs to play the physical game that they got here on instead of trying to turn themselves into a Wings finesse clone.

I distinctly remember the majority of people on this site saying that Franzen wasn't worth more than $4m before he was signed. Now we want to know why we're paying him only $4m?

Superstars get away with a lot more. Is it fair? No. But that's just the reality of it. In my opinion, it was a dumb play on Ovie's part.. but it is what it is. Ovie and Crosby both could probably get away with hits like that simply because they're NHL superstars.

I'm with you on this. When there's a blatantly obvious dive by a Wings player and we get a PP as a result, I always cringe a bit. But I also feel that there'd be no reason to dive if the refs would just do their jobs. I'm sure there are players who will dive anyway - but I've noticed that it starts getting REALLY bad for the Wings when we're not getting any calls for anything. It seems to me it's out of pure frustration than anything else. But you're right, it's no excuse. I can't stand diving, period. I think it's highly disrespectful to the game. If you're not winning and you're doing everything you can - so be it. You're not winning. But don't fall all over the ice to give your team a better chance.
