I went to round 1 home game 2 when Ozzie got the shut out.. and this last game that went to 3 OTs. I was SO exhausted after that game.

This is the kind of s*** I meant when I said I would want to wait a few years to let Crosby grow up before bringing him on this team. These kinds of comments right here are just childish and downright stupid. Complain to your teammates in the locker room, not to the press in the post-game show. Crosby, grow a pair.

I don't blame anybody. We went against one of the most physical teams in the NHL. We DOUBLED the amount of hits they were giving us and gave it right back to them. Yes, we were a bit lethargic in the first two periods.. but after that, we dominated in every area. Faceoffs. Hits. Scoring chances. Shots. You name it, we owned it. (Even penalty minutes - for once.) Even with us playing as lethargic as we did the first two periods, our offensive talent made a burst in the last period to tie it up. We then held the Ducks off for TWO full OT periods.. with Hiller and Osgood going head-to-head and, quite literally, standing ON their heads. It took the ducks three OTs to win. And we're blaming our people 'cause we lost?

Rafalski and Draper will not play in Game 3

I imagine them rolling dice to see whether to go with "upper" or "lower" in the injury report. -

I usually do, but I guess I'm the only one. -

I really want to know what's up with Raffy. To have your #2 defenseman miss three playoff games is NOT good. -
WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)
Ms_Hockey replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Let's be realistic. That game was going to end on a very soft goal, whether it was Hiller or Osgood. Why? Because both teams were exhausted. It turned into a battle of goalies.. with both of them standing on their heads through two straight periods of OT. Doesn't matter which goalie it would've been - it would've ended on a soft goal. -
Good question. He went on for quite awhile about how Hossa sucks, too.. which is sounding oddly familiar to some LGWers...

I think the fact that I worded my posts without questions makes my post > yours, even though the ideas are exactly the same. And the fact that I'm a woman and have to be right has nothing to do with this.... EDIT: Upon further inspection, I did ask questions in mine. DAMNIT.... Well, you asked MORE. I still win.

I stand corrected. On the whole, though, his checks don't even draw blood let alone inhibit a player in any way.

Kronwall, without a shadow of a doubt, leaves his feet on almost every single major hit he makes. Is it illegal? Absolutely. Is it dirty? Well.. has anybody ever really gotten hurt from it? Kronwall breaks the rules, but he's damn good at covering it up. Let's be realistic though.. the man leaves his feet.

I heard a guy on the radio send a text message in talking about how we should just pack up now and move on to a different sport, 'cause this series is over. I was like really? You're an idiot.

WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)
Ms_Hockey replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I'm a tad confused by some of the comments here. Wings didn't hit as much as they could've? We were killed on faceoffs? Wings won roughly 60% of the faceoffs. We were almost double Anaheim's hit count tonight. It's my personal observation that when the Wings focus that much on hits, they tend to lose focus on scoring. Had we played our regular game - low hits, great passing/puck possession, that game would've been over in regulation. Sure, Draper will make out faceoffs that much better, but we're in no way lacking that badly without him. MORE hits were definitely not necessary. Our hit total was HIGH in comparison to the Ducks. The Ducks didn't play their normal goon game and as a result, didn't take a whole lot of penalties. They played it smart. We just have to play it smarter. -
WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

That's the thing. We're taking tons of shots from the blueline - completely unscreened. If we can just get in there, cause more traffic in front of Hiller, and screen him.. we're good to go. Our shot totals prove that it's NOT that we aren't penetrating the zone and it's NOT that our offense has been silenced. We just aren't creating enough scoring chances. Helm was on fire today. Everything he did was great.. stick handling, hits, shots. He was working his butt off. Call me crazy, but I think it may be time to re-unite the Euro twins. -

Most exhausting game I've ever been to. I'm laying in bed typing this because I really really need a nap. Couple things. First, let's remember that we ARE the defending Cup champs. Did any of us actually think we were going to sweep Anaheim? It's one loss. We aren't even down in the series yet. We're basically starting over from scratch. There's absolutely NO need to freak out over this loss. The Wings are a veteran team. They know how to win on the road. Second.. The Ducks are comprised of one line, pretty much. Ryan, Getzlaf, Perry, Pronger, Niedermayer. After that, our depth COMPLETELY outranks the Ducks - and it's proven in our shot totals. I mean, 62 to 46? In the overtimes, we dominated the crap out of them - but Hiller was a wall. Getzlaf played over 30 minutes today. After awhile, that line is going to tire out. We'll be perfectly fine. I have absolutely no worries about this team. -
It's interesting to see the OCregister writers changing their tune from "implants vs. closed plants". Looks like they're beginning to realize that we're not a bunch of has-beens.. and we're certainly not the SJ Sharks. Link.

Hiller is a great goalie, no doubt.. but he's still a rookie. And as such, I expect him to make rookie mistakes at least once in awhile. He flubbed up. Hopefully he does it about 500 more times this series.

That's really what I was trying to get at. I'm sure they don't think it's good for any sport to have one team dominating the league for so long. It could potentially turn viewers off with thoughts of "What's the point? Wings are gonna win anyway. No contest." I understand your point of view, but it could also be applied to bias against the Wings, if you get what I mean.

Dear Carlyle, Please take notes. Love, The Wings.
-
I'm so glad that we have a respectable coach. Stack up how much trash-talking Carlyle has done with how much trash-talking Babcock has done, and we'll see which team is better in terms of talent AND maturity.

There's a lot more to it than penalties. I'm not usually one to go around chanting about referee bias, but the league continues to assign Dan O'Halloran to reffing our team - even after obvious instances that his calls were less than fair. Danny O was shot in Detroit. Yes, literally shot. We all know that. But Danny O is also the one who started all of this Homer-goals-disallowed-because-butt-is-in-crease bullcrap. Now we all have a little bit of homerism in us.. but you cannot honestly tell me that Holmstrom deserves every single one of those goaltender interference penalties that Danny O loves to hand out to him. He's even been assigned to ref here during the regular season and done the exact same s*** he did in the playoffs. Like I said, I'm not normally one to go damning the refs and I rarely blame the outcome of a game on the refs - but that even led me to send an e-mail to the officiating association. Any other situation and him reffing here would be seen as a "conflict of interest". But not the Wings. As for the All-Star suspensions.. it wasn't so much the fact that Lidstrom and Datsyuk got suspended. It was the fact that the league didn't even bother informing the Red Wings organization OR the players themselves that they had made this rule of you can sit out the actual game but you must be here for weekend festivities. Our players found out the same time all of us did - through the media. And what about the $10,000 fine for swinging the octopus? You mean to tell me that you actually think the rule is valid? That gunk could fly off and "seriously harm" a player or fan? That's probably the most anti-Red Wing rule to date.. and I really wish Illitch would've told the league to shove it where the sun don't shine. Or maybe it's that Bettman has specifically called the Pittsburgh Penguins the model franchise of the league - even though it's Detroit who gets the players to sign for less. It's Detroit that every player touts as the "dream team to play for". It's Detroit that the Ducks coach got fired over for saying it'd be a dream to coach this team. It's Detroit that draws in viewers. It's Detroit that has the longest current consecutive playoff streak of any team in any major sport. ...But Pittsburgh is the model franchise? How many TV commercials have you seen - not on local Detroit tv, but about the NHL in general - where Detroit is beating Pittsburgh in the SCF last year? Now compare that to the TV commercials where Pittsburgh is beating US.. and you have your answer. The league doesn't like that Detroit has been so dominant for so long.. and that's really all there is to it. Why? Because it makes it that much harder for other teams in terms of competing. They just don't think it's good for the sport. And you can bet your bottom dollar whomever the next dynasty may be will run into the exact same things. So yes, there is DEFINITE bias against the Red Wings.
-
I really don't know how you can do it. I could never leave my team.
-
I will be row 15, section 121 - behind the player's bench. I'm not bringing an octopus, though.
