Where would we be without TiVo?

I saw that last night while I was at the bar with my dad and I got SO angry that I started ranting things like "How DARE he lay a glove on Lids! What the hell?!" He ended up buying me a shot of Hot Damn to get me to shut up.

Lidstrom's most impressive feat is simple. It's being Lidstrom. He's a Steve Yzerman protege. One of the most respected players in the NHL - even by other players. There's nothing about him that doesn't impress me. His quiet leadership, his astounding humbleness, his ridiculous skill and talent. There's nothing about Nicklas Lidstrom that isn't impressive.. and frankly, nothing that any other player in the league shouldn't try to mimic.

Who actually looked to see how much time went by after Hudler released the puck that he got hit?

Just want to take this bit from a Wings blog that I read and I'm sure they'd be interested to read it, too. Also, are they aware they BOTH home games 1 and 2 are entirely sold out? Standing room tickets were being sold for about $300 a piece.

Haha.. the Ducks were diving all over the ice last night as if they could get calls every two seconds of the game.

This Ducks fan I've been talking to said it best, really. "It was a dick play and a s***ty hit that he didn't need to finish... but it happens all the time. Take the blood out of the scenario and nobody is talking about it."

I hadn't reviewed the hit when I posted that, so I was going by general statements. I do agree, though. Hudler needs to be aware of his surroundings and pay closer attention to oncoming hits. By the same token, I don't think that excuses Brown.

Oh wow. I remember reading about him and knowing he'd pass, but I certainly didn't think it'd be so soon. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. That is truly heartbreaking.

I saw TONS of diving tonight. Man. Players were falling all over the dang place.

That's absolutely ridiculous. Sounds to me like they like to re-write the interference rules as they happen.

They're aware of their team diving on the ice to draw penalties every five seconds PROBABLY had something to do with this, right? I specifically recall an Anaheim player falling down on the ice while there was a scrum at the boards and just sitting there looking dazed for a couple seconds. As soon as he realizes no whistle is coming, he jumps on his feet and starts fighting for the puck. ...Really? Brashear(sp?) got a five game suspension (six including pre-game conduct) for a hit much weaker than Brown's.

If Hudler's head was down, you're right. He should've had his head up. HOWEVER, having one's head down doesn't make shoulder-to-face hits or what have you okay. It's an infraction every time, no matter what the other player does to "deserve" it. I don't care if Hudler was waving a stick around saying "HEY, HIT ME IN THE FACE. PLEEEEEEEEEEASE." You simply cannot do that and expect a pass.
