I noticed! Pffft - boys. You just have to remember that they're always wrong.

In my personal experiences, I've found that there's really no such thing as a bad seat at the Joe. No matter where the seats are, you'll be able to see.

I... wow... I have absolutely nothing to say about this. I'm... speechless.
-
I think he says "Behind every assist, it's a lot of running." Then he says "Grinders run. First liners run... a lot." And then "I run for kilometers, you can too!" But don't quote me on that.

Sammy is showing an amazing burst of potential. Does he make mistakes? Absolutely. What players on our team DOESN'T make mistakes? He may make them more frequently - but for the effort he puts out on the ice and what he pay him.. Sammy is, quite literally, a bargain. Congratulations, Sammy. Even though some LGWers can't stand you, I happen to think you're a great addition to our team. Keep chuggin'!

Every time it's even mentioned that Hossa is really gearing toward staying, my stomach does backflips. (I should probably get that checked out.) But seriously - I used to not be the biggest fan of Hossa. His first however-many games with our team, I was disappointed. He was visibly struggling to find where he fit in with us and it bothered me. He seemed slow (possibly because he's so damn big) and he wasn't on a one point per game pace like I thought someone of his marketed talent SHOULD be. But lately - my entire opinion has changed. He's found that place - that niche. He works his butt off on the ice - and he's one of the most potent snap-and-release goal scorers I've ever seen. Hossa belongs in Detroit.. and you're hearing it from the doubter's mouth. Er... fingers.

You're probably right about that. All signs point to Lidstrom bring in this for the remainder of his contract. I don't think we have to worry about the salary cap rule in regards to contracts. I'm all for keeping Franzen & Hossa. What I don't understand is why we'd choose to keep Flip over Hudler. I'm not going to sit here and say that Flip is a bad player - but Hudler is, admittedly, better. This whole thing seems to make no sense to me.

I actually cracked up. TPBM is going skiing sometime this winter.
-
Wow... That's so..... depressing.
-
What's wrong?

LOL! Yeah, I can just see how that would go over with the parents. "Mom.. Dad... I need to sleep - Hand me the rum, please?"
-
The rule is that if a player is 35 or older when he signs his contract, he'll count against the cap for the remainder of that contract - even if he retires. The hope was to dissuade teams from giving older players long-term contracts and having those same players retire one or two years into the contract. So, are we paying Drake? I don't know - but I thought Drake only wanted to win the Cup last season & retire anyway - so he probably didn't have a contract extension. Basically, Lidstrom or any other 35+ player (at signing) wouldn't have to quit mid-season for this rule to be in effect. He'd just had to retire before his contract ended.. whether that was at the end of this season or next.

My class tassel. TPBM watches House religiously. (And if not, FOR SHAME!)
-
I only wish it did the same to me. It's off and on with me. Some nights I can take it and it'll knock me out.. others, I take it and it does absolutely nothing. And those are always the nights when I'm realllllllllly sick and need it to work.
-
I didn't. I have class at 10 AM every morning - so I'm up by 9.. unless that counts as sleeping in.
-
Because he's so damn attractive that nobody would pay attention to anything he says when he talks.
-
I took NyQuil last night cause of my cold. Laid in bed for two hours. Took another sleep aid. Laid in bed for another hour. Three sleeping tablets and no sleep. How is that humanly possible?
-
No way. I had class early this morning. I did drink a Pepsi, though. I'm a rebel. TPBM has a lanyard attached to their car keys.
-
Maybe you misunderstood my post? I was saying I'd rather have Hudler than Flip because Hudler has shown a lot more in terms of potential to this team than Flip has. I agree with you 100%. Flip looks soft, and Leino/Helm could easily take over his roll and do a better job.

In my opinion, out of the media spotlight - Datsyuk is widely respected by both players and fans throughout the league. Just about any game that I've been to.. if I'm sitting near a fan of the opposing team, they make a comment about how good he is when he has the puck. A Blackhawks fan once said "There's nothing scarier to me than when Pavel Datsyuk is storming across the blue line with the puck." In the media spotlight, it's completely different. He's ignored by the general media. I can only guess that this comes down to one thing. He has broken English. Think about the Rahmani eye commercial posted in this thread. When we all first saw it, despite our love for Datsyuk, what did we do? We laughed. We laughed and then had to listen to it two times before we understood what he was saying. If we were to see Sidney Crosby doing that exact same commercial - most of us would throw our evening meals at the TV - but we'd be able to understand him. It's all marketing. The only thing I can remotely compare it to is politics. (No, this won't be incredibly boring, bear with me.) Some people are passionate about politics. Some people are passionate about hockey. You get a presidential candidate with a heavy accent - and instead of listening to what the person is actually saying, people are going to laugh and make fun of the way they say things instead. I can imagine that if Datsyuk were in the position of Crosby, as the face of the NHL, the same would apply.

I gotta be honest, I'm not happy at all with the idea of losing Hudler & Sammy. As someone else has already said, why lose Hudler when you could trade Flip? Hudler has shown more to this team in terms of producing than Flip has. If you would've asked me last season if I'd be okay trading Sammy, I would've said yes. But this season? No way. He's showing an amazing burst of potential. Why trade him away when he's having one of his best seasons in years? Sammy is a bargain for what we pay him.

If I didn't have a total passion for the Red Wings and I didn't understand the sentiments of this thread entirely, this would qualify under "crazed stalker fan thread" in my mind.

Calgary has a pretty good mixture of fans there. The guy I'm seeing lives there currently and he says that whenever there's Wings/Flames games, the bars are a good 50/50 mix of Wings/Flames fans. There's Wings flags on cars - Wings stickers on cars.. Calgary is a pretty diverse place - hockey and all.
