Everybody knows the team isn't playing up to snuff. I just don't happen to think this is an issue we should be panicked about. There's a difference.

If you're honestly going to blame the entire team's lack of energy on the goaltender, I might laugh so hard I fall out of my chair. Shaky goaltending is a problem. The defense is the bigger problem of the two. I can't say much about the offense, because they're still producing. But there's more than just goaltending that needs to be addressed. It's the same story every season. Everybody freaks out.. and then the light switches on and they come back. It makes this whole debate futile. The whole team gets to get back in gear, and they know it. Until April, I see no reason to stress - given the history of the Wings and their All Star game losing streaks.

We're number two in the Western Conference. We have a damn good record, even though you seem to not want to hear it. Think what you want. It's totally fine to disagree with me. But at this moment in time, I see absolutely no reason for all the panic.

First, of course the Blues had more shots on goal. They (essentially) had a seven minute power play. What would you expect the shot total to look like after that? Second, stop freaking out. This is the Red Wings we're talking about. Every season, right around the All Star break, we go into our annual hiccup. We ALWAYS pull out and make ourselves a cup contender. The lack of faith in our team is astounding. When we have a losing season - maybe two or three - then it'll be time to rethink your season tickets. But right now? Just chill out.

That's actually just how I talk. And I don't see anything wrong with conversing with people. But okay.

I used to be on a roller hockey league for 8 years. (Roller hockey because dear old mommy and daddy couldn't stand seeing their little girl checked. So voila! No checking hockey!) Anyways, I was the only girl on the team. And I used to get called names, berated, and otherwise told to go and play with Barbies whenever I made a mistake. The parents would be so rude to me that I'd go home from every single game crying. Essentially, this is why I gave up on the sport altogether. I was only about 8 years old - and I couldn't take the general bashing and intensity from the parents. If I would go near a boy on another team, there would be the shouts of "C'MON, DANNY! YOU'RE NOT GOING TO LET A GIRL DO THAT TO YA, ARE YOU? SHOW HER THAT HOCKEY ISN'T FOR GIRLS." That's fairly tame - but to an 8 year old, it's pretty painful. My dad - being the coach - would want to intervene, but couldn't. He was too busy trying to get me to stop crying or otherwise too busy just coaching the team. And, I honestly think the worst part of the whole story is that I can distinctly remember going to the bench, taking off my helmet, and crying to my dad that I didn't want to play anymore - and some kid's father yelling "YEAH, THIS ISN'T A SISSY SPORT. GO HOME." :Shrug: Hockey was ruined.. but that's life, I guess.

Come ON, guys. Drapes is a freakin' rocket. And honesty, Cleary can be pretty damn fast.

I was at this game.. and was more than thrilled to hear the Ozzie chants. If anything, it helps boost the confidence in him. He impressed me with that 5 minute PK. The Blues could've scored quite a few nasty goals - but Ozzie showed up big.. making some key saves. All in all, I had fun. I was glad I got to do the "Ozzie" chant.. and even happier than we got the W.

Bruins, for me. I saw one YouTube clip where a fan punched Steve Yzerman in the face on the way back to the dressing room.. and now I have an eternal grudge against the Boston Bruins and everyone involved there.

It's one thing to say that Lidstrom isn't doing his job as well as he could be - as captain. It's another thing to say that Lidstrom is NOT one of the best defenseman in the NHL. You even said yourself that as an individual player, he's almost flawless. That's what I was jumping on. As far as Lidstrom & his captain position, I don't think he can control the way the guys are playing right now.. and I'm sure he's tried to rally them together and sing the battle hymn of the republic.. but there's only so much he can do, as a player. I have no problems with people thinking that he could be a better captain.. just don't undermine his talent as a defenseman.

Agree entirely. I had gotten into the habit of saying "I hate you, Lilja" whenever he skated out on the ice. To my own joy - I haven't said it at all this season!

You're right - Kronwall isn't going anywhere. I just hope he pulls out of whatever slump he's fallen into. Heck - I hope the whole team does. You're right about Draper - he's the face-off king. I've also noticed he's been practicing his aim. I'm trying to think of one reason to keep Kopecky - but I'm coming up blank.
