Ew... Looks like I picked the right time to go.
-
I think we can just add another date. I'm free for almost every game - so whatever is good with me.

Are those jerseys a joke of some sort?
-
Maltby, Draper, and Chelios will (most likely) all be retiring - or thinking about retiring, anyway. Out of those three, Maltby is working the hardest - but he's just not producing. So I'd say yes, let them go. Samuelsson is having an amazing season. He's doing MUCH better than he has in previous seasons.. so I'd keep him. See if I could work on him and find out where this burst of potential is coming from... same with Lilja. He's having a MUCH better season - so I'd work on him, too. I'd consider trading Flip - or just lowering his pay. He's not producin at $3m a season. I'd also consider trading Kronwall.. even though I'm somewhat against it. He just isn't performing this season.

I'm going to this game - so damnit, we better win! I'm gonna say 4-3 Wings.

Actually, TheOwl has a point. You're looking at what he said from an all-around view. Hossa scores more goals than Franzen. Hossa is, admittedly, worth more than Franzen. But the only thing that Hossa takes advantage of his size with is staying on the puck. In the physical aspect - Franzen wins, hands down. There's a certain physical intensity and presence on the ice with Franzen that you don't get with Hossa. He's our go-to guy when Homer is out with an injury - and for good reason. Hossa is a great player. Franzen just happens to be more physical than he is.. and with our team - one that plays a far better finesse game than physical game - losing a large physical player is not always the smartest move, no matter who it's for.

Should the Red Wings Fire Assistant Coach Brad McCrimmon?
Ms_Hockey replied to Winged_Wheeler's topic in General
Firing the assistant coach is going to do what, exactly? Our defenseman aren't new to the game. They don't NEED much training and coaching other than "Do what you've been doing for the last however-many years." This isn't a coaching issue - it's a team issue. They KNOW how to play correctly - they just AREN'T. Fire McCrimmon? What a stupid suggestion. Should we also trade Lidstrom and put Rafalski on waivers? -
January 25th, 5:51 AM. Also, hi.

Osgood has worst save percentage in the league

Like my dad says, if you want to piss of an LGW poster - tell them that you love the starting goalie. -

That's pretty much the bottom line of this whole confidence debate. -

I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment. Ozzie is an average goalie - and the players know that. But he's well-loved by his teammates and this entire organization. Detroit is his home. These guys have formed off-ice personal relationships with him. And I'm certain they remember his playoff performance last season - which brought him to a Cup in the first place. Babcock and the Red Wings franchise don't keep starting Osgood out of sympathy. They start him because they believe in him. They know he hits bumps in the road but they also know he's capable of turning his game around. I don't believe, for one second, that any of the players lose confidence because Osgood is in net.. or that they play better with Conklin just because they feel they have a better chance of winning. -
Any of the games are good for me, to be honest. I'd be good with doing an earlier one.

So what you're telling me is that our team full of professional hockey players decides that playing in front of Ozzie is just crap and so they throw the entire game away over it? Yeah, makes sense. I can promise you that nobody goes back in that locker room and starts bashing Osgood the way the "fans" do on this forum. In fact, I doubt they even say anything to him. To assume that they just have a massive confidence drop-out when Osgood is in net a horrible excuse for our team to play the way they are. If anything, that should push them harder to be BETTER. -

Just saw it. I have to agree with you on this one - nobody was bashing our team. Two of them said we have to get back on track and the other said we're just having a hiccup and we'll be fine. -
That's the biggest joke of a post I've ever read. Lidstrom is, hands down, one of the best defeseman in the NHL. To say otherwise is both ignorant and asinine. Lilja is having a great season - but to say he's better than Lidstrom? There is something seriously wrong with that.

"Video not available in your region". Uh oh... -
I've never been to the one downtown - but the one in Clinton Township does the air horn and red lights whenever the Wings score. There's also a scoreboard in the middle of the restaurant which flashes lights as well. If that sounds like the one downtown - then they're the same.
-
Homer is, by far, my favorite player. That is going to be a heck of a sad day in Red Wings history. -.-
-
I don't think we have anything to worry about. If Hossa loves Detroit as much as he's claiming to - if he really feels this is the best organization he's ever worked for and he wants to settle down long-term - then he'll take the discount and sign a long-term contract. In short - if Hossa wants to stay, he will.
-
Franzen. I've said this in other posts, but I'll just repeat. Franzen brings a certain physical intensity to the ice that Hossa doesn't. Hossa uses his large size to stay on the puck - which is good. Franzen, on the other hand, isn't afraid of a face-washing every now and then - and he'll make sure you pay for it too. He's a hot head. After Homer is gone, who is the next best person to fill that position? Franzen.
-
Yeah, I had a blast! Thanks for organizing this.

You are far too kind to me. Just kidding.
