As far as my knowledge goes, Holland and Z have spoken about Hank staying for his entire NHL career with Detroit. Not sure if it'll happen - but it's on the table. I wouldn't be too sad to see Hossa go. He's a great goal scorer.. but he hasn't really found his niche with our team. He's not as much of a contributer as Franzen or Datsyuk are.

I wasn't taking information from anybody. I'm just saying that IF Hossa wants that much from us - let him walk. I'm not saying he does. I would imagine that their cap is still pretty flexible since we haven't signed all the players for sure, yet. I'm certain, though, that the Wings would be more willing to lose Hossa than Franzen. And both sounds a tad out there - but we'll see how that plays out.

I did.. but let's be realistic. It's not the face the men in the stands are that focused on. If it was, there'd be no need for the skirts & midriff tops. I don't watch the Wings because I find them attractive. In fact, with helmets, visors, and pads on - I can hardly see anything at all. I don't think girls in barely-there clothing evens that out. Also, some of the players are old enough to be my father. The idea of being attracted to any of them makes me shudder. You wanna see half naked girls? Go to a strip club. You wanna see a hockey game? Go to the Joe Louis Arena. It's enough that I have to sit around drunk men talking about hot secretaries at work that they'd like to bang (yes, last game - this actually happened), I don't need to hear guys groan, grunt, and cheer whenever a girl showing her belly button ring skates out.

Something just crossed my mind. Does Bettman even have the power to sit there and change a rule on spot? Isn't there some executive board he has to go through in order to do it?

To be honest, it's kind of degrading. I'm a young girl. I'm not ugly. I could probably be an ice girl.. but I wouldn't. I find the whole idea of sending attractive girls out on the ice just to get the guy's blood pumping a bit offensive. I love going to the Wings games and not having to see that kind of stuff showcased. We're classier than that.

I can see why they're angry, though. It's the principle of the fact that Datsyuk could be on a plane to Russia and we'd have no idea that he could've skipped out on this. It's the inconvenience that's irritating. But I think people are assuming it's Bettman's job to bring the issue up to the player. If I were to mess up at Uni, I don't expect the dean of students to come to me to work out my problems. I would have to go to him.

This all seems a bit confusing to me.. so bear with me. So Bettman made this revision and didn't call the organizations with players in the ASG to inform them of it. But, when this all hit headline news - why couldn't Holland or someone else call up Bettman or somebody and ask if this revision they're reading about also applies to Lidstrom & Datsyuk? Sure, it's an inconvenience that we weren't told - and it sort of grinds my gears considering we pulled out awhile ago... but Crosby was the only one who brought the issue to Bettman's attention and Bettman took care of it accordingly. I don't think it's Bettman's job to chase our players around and try to make their lives easier. I think it's the player's job to bring up and issue and ask for it to be revised.

Even so, if they offered the newly revised rule to Lidstrom & Datsyuk.. I don't see the problem? I think everyone knows that Bettman is doing everything he can to make Crosby the face of the NHL. He chose to amend the rule.. but it's not like he didn't apply it to other players and JUST Crosby.

I'm trying to understand the Crosby conspiracy here.. but after however-many pages, I'm not getting it. As far as my knowledge goes, Crosby was told that he had to at least show up in order to avoid suspension. And he did. Datyuk & Lidstrom didn't.. so they got suspended. I'm obviously missing a large chunk of the puzzle, because it seems perfectly logical to me.

I don't think it's changed to a point where hockey players don't understand the importance of the Stanley Cup. Even with Bettman trying to dig his grimy little fingernails into everything, the amount of determination and pure skill it takes to get your hands on that Cup is well known - even outside of the US & Canada. Even if a player would much rather stay in the KHL, there's a certain amount of respect there for a team who has won Lord Stanley.

Cleary & Rafalski can't be traded due to no-trade clauses in their contracts.
