It was just a matter of time.

Oh, those crazy French Canadians. Gotta love 'em.
  2. I haven't spoken about it much on the boards - other than in this thread. The only people who responded to my original post were the ones who disagree with me. But in real life, when I go out for the games and begin pointing things out to people.. they won't necessarily agree with me.. but they'll tell me that I'm not as crazy as they originally thought I was. I don't bring it up for a friendly chat to the diehard Wings fan sitting next to me or anything. But sometimes, my comments slip out (you know how we are. We just can't stop ourselves), and they'll start asking me questions.

    1/17 GDT: Sharks 6, Red Wings 5

You have just boosted my excitement level ten-fold. Win or lose... there's going to be some great hockey going on tonight.

    Alexei Cherepanov investigation results.

This story breaks my heart. I feel bad enough that he had a medical condition.. but the fact that his death could've been prevented just grinds my gears. Poor kid. I really hope that hockey organization learns something from this.

Datsyuk not in breakaway comp = NHL's Failure

Jonas Brothers... Is it sad that I know how to spell their band name? Ew. I need to take a bath or something. =/

    RWNW Pictures from Wings/Kings 1.15.09

I really love all the Wings fans gathered around the glass as if to make sure the players know they have support there before they get lost in the crowd. I love you guys. I really really do.

SI: Future Cup Final to be played at neutral site?

    I think you're right.

    The NHL doesn't learn

If the NHL wasn't trying to market the All Star game as "the best players from both conferences going head to head", I wouldn't really have a problem with it. But it's not a talent contest - it's a popularity contest. If they want to have fan participation - that's fine. But at the very least, they should have a committee who has the final say. EDIT: OR fans should only be able to vote once. Crosby has talent - there's no denying that - but Bettman trying to force him as the face of the NHL is just irritating.

    What keeps Conklin busy?

He practices the drums with his stick on the goalposts so that during the off-season, he can join a heavy metal band!

    Conklin with 5 shutouts already!

Yeah, Conks was in net. I think (I could be wrong) because Ozzie had that groin injury. Let's just hope that Ozzie is having one of his good nights.

Summer 2010: Use Lidstrom's cap space to sign Luongo?

I'm on the fence about this. In one respect, it's safe to say that the Wings don't have the best goaltending that we could have. But on the other hand, the caliber of defense makes up for it entirely. If Lidstrom retired, I don't think our defense would necessarily fall apart. Rafalski is amazing out there. Stuart does pretty well too. (If we hang onto him). Sammuelson is vanilla pudding. He doesn't do anything. Not to bash him - he's been having a great season so far. Kronwall has really started to show through lately. Losing Lidstrom doesn't exactly mean we need a #1 goalie. And if our defense remains intact(maybe look into getting another top defenseman?), Conklin has proven that he's fully capable of handling the shots - as has Osgood. I'm a believer in building the team from the defense out. Put the money of D.. because when you have to rely on the goalie to stop the puck, the rest of the team has failed to do their jobs, in a sense. As good as Luongo is... it would really just eat up money that we don't necessarily need to or SHOULD be spending between the pipes.

    1/15 GDT: Red Wings 4, Kings 0

I really don't think Cheli will be playing much in the playoffs - if at all. I was surprised he even came back after last year. But there's no doubt in my mind that he'll retire after this season. He just has to. No one else is going to take him & the Wings won't want him to eat up cap space.

............. I can feel the jealousy boiling in my veins.

    The Ducks

I don't think it's close-mindedness. It's just how some people operate. I can't be a fan of more than one team. I can LIKE other teams - but I can really only be a diehard fan of one. I'm not close-minded.. It's just how I work.
  15. In my original post, I said that Hossa wasn't a bad player at all. In fact, I said I like him because of his scoring ability. Last night, I saw him hustle a few times. And I give him credit for when I see it. But I don't see it often. If you feel like ripping me for it, be my guest. I never said the guy was a bad player - just said he's not worth the bags of money Pittsburgh was trying to give him to stay. He may just SEEM slower because he's bigger.. but he seems slow to me. Again, he makes it work - but, in my head, I can probably count on my fingers the number of times it seems like Hossa actually hustles to get the puck. There's nothing wrong with me thinking that other than the fact that many of you disagree. Disagree all you want - but it's my observation anyway.

    The Ducks

I'm with Casey on this one. Let both Neidermayers walk. As they stated, you're likely to find better at a cheaper rate due to their arrogance in regards to contracts. Also, Pahlsson is a must.

    Conklin with 5 shutouts already!

I love Ozzie to death, but I feel like he's overworking the puck a lot this season. I'd love to see Conks in net on Saturday. Our entire team has stepped up. Our fourth line scoring? Twice? Hopefully, this is the beginning of their "wake up". I'm impressed with Conklin and even more impressed with the whole team.

1/14 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Ducks 3

I'm with you on this. For the most part, I can't stand Lilja. But in last night's game - he was pretty good.
  20. No worries. This has already been proven false.

    Interview with Roenick

    LOL. That's hilarious!
  22. It was sarcasm.. so yes, pretty much a joke. Sammy isn't as good of a player as Hossa is, though he is having a really good run this year. I've never been a big Sammuelson fan.. but he's having a good season (so far).
  23. Personal opinion. Give it up.
  24. I have noticed he tries to do too much sometimes, although I never held that against him. I put it down to being with a new team and having to show himself all over again. We already knew what he was capable of watching him with the Pens - but it's different with every team. You have to find your niche. So yes - he does try to do too much sometimes.. but I don't blame him for it. I agree with you.. Zetterberg should be given preference. But if he wants to break the bank, he can break someone else's. I will watch tonight's game and look for POSITIVE Hossa things. P.S. - You don't like Sammy?!?! You must explain.
  25. This should definitely be moved to the rumor mill.
