The Winter Classic is great but c'mon folks this is Bettman were talking about here. The mere fact that having the Rose Bowl for a venue even made into print proves that he will screw it up....somehow....he will figure out a way to kill it.

I watched a vid of that fight earlier today. It's looks like McCarty nailed Claude when he wasn't prepared, what I want to know is why wasn't he prepared? That was the equal of skating with your head down. IMO the reason for the first fight that night was to distract the refs so Mac could make his run. Everybody in the house knew that payback was coming. All that aside you have to admit Claude has a nose for the cup. Wouldn't bother me to see his nose get jacked again instead though.

10yrs does seem a like a long contract. Considering other teams would value Hank at more than 7/8 million a year perhaps the only way to get the number down is increase the length. Sorta a give you less now but maybe more than you would get later thing. Salary cap=creative contract terms
