Did anyone else see Perry kick Osgood when he skated by? I hate that *****.

What the F was that, Kopy dropping the gloves? Don't wake up the Schmucks faithful, that's what the come to see. Oh well, at least there was no blood shed. Maximus he is not.

Voltron, I love it

Come on guys, we have them by the throat, time to squeeze. The next Wings goal will be scored by a player with a 5 on his uniform.

I like that the Angels kept Barry Bonds from winning the World Series. That's about it, Sacramento is about the only place in California that I would ever want to live, if I could afford to move back there. There, Karma satisfied, GO WINGS!!!!!

The elbow by Holmstrom could have been a penalty, and had it been called, it would have off-set the hook by Niedermayer. For Wisniewski to say what he said, especially after admitting he has no recollection of the actual event and watching "3 different replays", to call it blatant and to call Holmstrom gutless, that shows a complete lack of class on his part. Part of me wants him to be able to come back to we can take a few whacks at his face and show him what blatant elbows really look like. He was not hunched over coughing up blood when the elbow happened, he was back in the play playing the body and possibly interfering with an opponent screening his goalie. He did not hunch over and cough blood until well after the play was stopped. Just a case of a guy who is new to the team, is obviously aware of his current team's reputation (hence his comment about Pronger) and trying to make his mark since he will likely not be able to play again in this series. As if we needed any more bulletin board material to enhance our hatred of the Ducks, I just hope that his absence exposes more than ever their lack of depth, and we get a few breaks as a result. Go Wings!

Here's what my initial thought was about the lines for next game: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Hossa-Filppula-Franzen Hudler-Helm-Cleary Kopecky-Draper-Samuelsson Provided Draper is healthy of course. Maltby has been invisible all playoffs, IMO he is a mere shell of his former self. Kopecky hasn't been exactly lighting up the stat sheet either, but at leaast he has been noticably more physical. I've been calling for the ZDH reunion all playoffs, they are the ultimate offensive weapon and have been for a long time. But then I took a look at the numbers and saw what many of you have seen, that the combo of Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary has been phenomenal at both ends of the ice. So, in an effort to not fix what isn't broken, here's my re-configured lines: Franzen-Zetterberg-Cleary Filppula-Datsyuk-Hossa Hudler-Helm-Holmstrom Kopecky-Draper-Samuelsson Or, if Draper can't go, then: Maltby-Kopecky-Samuelsson That way, we get the advantage of having 2 capable face-off men on the top 2 lines, especially since we won't have last change on the road, the 3rd and 4th lines have offensive firepower, and we don't have to break up the line that has obviously been our best. I saw Filppula out on the ice with Datsyuk and Hossa in OT yesterday, and we've seen them put Datsyuk and Filppula together in some situations in the regular season. I love having so much depth at forward, now if we only had that luxury on D right now...

Difference is, Kronwall doesn't aim for the head, he goes hip or body, not elbow or shoulder, therefore he rarely hits the victim's head.

That's epic, well done

Hey, I feel I have an obligation to raise my voice here. I work for NHL Gamecenter, and before anyone starts spewing venom at me, I do not have any control over the blackouts, so don't bother. Hockeystreams.net is 100% illegal, any site other than NHL.com and NHL Gamecenter that is charging subscriptions for online streaming of NHL games is doing so without the permission of the NHL and the TV broadcasters, and runs the risk of LOTS of legal problems if and when they are tracked down.

How do you ignore users on here? Hector Blake is getting on my nerves, he obviously doesn't realize which team's board he is posting on. Same with skacore.

Sorry, the NBC game will be blacked out on NHL.com in the US, same with Versus games.

Personally, I would like to play the Ducks in the next round, mainly because that would mean they took care of the Sharks for us. Either way, we're going to have a much more competitve series than the first round. No direct disrespect to Columbus, but making your first ever playoff in franchise history and having to go up against the defending champs is no picnic, and they were clearly overwhelmed until game 4, but by then it was too late. I like our chances against the Ducks better because, despite showing flashes of dominance against the Sharks, they have not looked consistent. We are deeper, we can throw 2 Selke-caliber centers against the Getzlaf line, and Hiller's leash mey be getting shorter by the shot. If we play Vancouver, we match up well, but Luongo frightens me, and if he gets hot, it could spell trouble. There's also the vengeance factor that makes me want to play the Ducks next, just picturing Kronwall or Stuart putting on a hit parade against their goons makes me warm and fuzzy all over. As for the other matchup, I'd kind of like to see Calgary come out of that series, that way while we're playing the Ducks, there is a matchup of 2 Canadian teams, I'd like to keep the Canadian fans involved, having 2 of 3 teams advance should make up for the fact that yet again the Cup will be spending the summer in the US (and Sweden). Bring on the next victim.

PS 2009 Round 1 Photoshop War: Columbus Blue Jackets
bonan78 replied to Matt's topic in Hall of Fame
I live in Orlando, and they had a radio ad about Dwight Howard winning the Defensive Player of the Year, it went something like "Not only is he Superman, but he also takes out the trash". Thought someone with Photoshop skills could use that as inspiration, maybe Datsyuk with a broom in one hand and a trash bag with the Columbus logo on it.- 687 replies

solid game all around, big-time props to the 3rd line

Fortunately I work for the NHL, so not only do I have to explain hockey or playoff beards, but I've been growing mine since February, so it's gonna be gnarly by the time we raise the Cup in June

Oh no, it's the infamous "(insert goalie name) Says No" announcer, I hate that, it's so annoying, get some new material

If the MVP should go to the player most valuable to his team, then it's Parise hands down. He practically carried the Devils all season, especially without Brodeur there to win a bunch of 1-0 games. I think Ovechkin will win, because of the hype he receives, and rightly so. I can't see them giving it to Crosby, he isn't even the leading scorer on his team, and giving it to Malkin would take way too much spotlight off Bettman's golden boy. Here's my top 3 vote-getters IMO: 1) Ovechkin 2) Datsyuk 3) Crosby Datsyuk should win it, but won't. Here's why: Can't have a repeat of that with the Hart, now can we?

When Lidstrom retires (hopefully not for another 2 or 3 years), I seriously think Hank will be the next captain. Dats is a great player, the best two-way player in the game hands-down, but Zetterberg is better suited for the captaincy, especially since the organization seems to have been grooming him for it, and that Datsyuk has been known on several occasions to defer to him. Questions is, when either Z or Dats get promoted, who gets the other 'A'?
-
Alexei Yashin (not comparing him to Datsyuk, by any means, but he was a Russian captain)
