Yeah, they counted it!!! Congrats to Eaves for career goal #50

Amazing comeback by the Wild, bummer that Chicago still gets a point in that game. Also, epic meltdown by the Isles, but they hold the Jets to a single point. Bluenotes up 1-0 on LA after 1, and the CGY/VAN game is a wash, just hope that it doesn't turn into a 3 pointer.

With the Wings 3 points out of the top 8 at present, and the 5-8 seeds all in action tonight, I wanted to make a thread to discuss the other games occurring tonight which affect the standings. Even though we cannot catch anyone tonight, it would be fun to get some positive energy going and help out the teams that can help out the Wings tonight. COL@BUF ANA@NSH NYI@PHX CGY@VAN STL@LAK Currently, the only team losing is Nashville, but I can see this being a night where we can make up some ground with a little help from the hockey gods.

Crapstains, the Divealanche get the points. Curse you banana slugs Anaheim still up 3-1 on Nashville, and the Angry Sailors up 4-1 on the Jets
-
Goal by Buffalo, it's tied at 3, Lets Go Buffalo!!! P.S. Please end this one in regulation, don't give the Divealanche any free points
-
Buffalo scores, bringing it to 3-2 with 9 minutes left Ducks now up 2-0 on Nashville
-
Islanders go up 2-1 with 16 ticks left, but Tavares goes down hard, hope he's OK.
-
Colorado up 3-1 over Buffalo at the end of the 2nd (no Miller in net for BUF, no surprise they are struggling) Anaheim up 1-0 on Nashville with less than 2 minutes left in the 1st Phoenix up 1-0 on the Islanders with 3 left in the 1st CGY@VAN pucks drops at 10 ET STL@LAK puck drops at 10:30 ET

Our PK looks better offensively than most team's PP, can we start taking penalties against instead of going a man up? Edit: just saw a slo-mo replay of Flip's scoring chance, how is that not a hook?

Impact right away, way to go Clears

Sorry, forgot to use the sarcasm ninja. I did not mean to imply that it was your fault, just pointing out the irony and lamenting the Wings rotten luck with injuries this season.
-
Looks you may get your wish of keeping Bert with Dats , apparently Holmstrom broke his foot after practice today, so they will probably have Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Zetterberg and Cleary-Filppula-Leino/Miller
-
OK, now you have my undivided attention, Filppula finally scores after having a lot of close calls since coming back. Let's get a couple more and get the 2 points from these bottom feeders
-
Datsyuk with the PP goal, great sign. Now we just hold out and hopefully Filppula can get the EN goal
-
PP time, finally they call something on Doan, he's been pissing me off tonight.

No, not Strades, the guy who was interviewing the player at the end of the 3rd, I don't know his name. He was just doing a piece about the '98 playoff series, the guy sounds as upbeat and energetic as Snuffaluffagus (sp?)
-
Seriously, the FS-A guy sounds like he's announcing for a golf tournament at a funeral home. If I wasn't still pumped thanks to the goal, I'd be nodding off just listening. Now let us hold on and win the 3rd and get the W in regulation, no more 3 point games please
-
Woohoooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Was that Homer again, or did Nick finally break the drought?
-
For those people that were complaining about Mickey Redmond earlier, Red Wings fans should count themselves lucky to have him. After listening to the first period of the FS-A broadcast, I realize I have begun to take for granted that we have two announcers that not only know a bit about hockey, but that ennunciate and have a firm grasp of the English language. Dave Strader has one of the great hockey play-by-play voices, but Tyson Nash looks and sounds like the Geico caveman, and the guy between the benches, whatever his name is, sounds like someone slipped some Ambien in his martini. BTW, great first period, let's get a few more and put the Jets away

What Five Current NHL Players Do You Like the Most?
bonan78 replied to Shady Ultima's topic in General
1) Kozlov, the Hasek deal paid off, but he was one of my favorite Wings at the time, and I was really bummed to see him go. 2) Nash, despite the fact that he always seems to step up his game when he plays us, I like his game. 3) Parise, what I wouldn't give to see him wear the Winged Wheel, he will go down as one of the best players of his generation. 4) Kesler, another guy with hardly any flaws in his game, want him in Detroit 5) R. Miller, even though he's a Spartan (Go Blue!!!!!), I will always be a fan of his after the Amp commercial (Yomammaween) Forgot about Miller, he bumped Kopitar off the list -
Wow, Helm with 2 shorties in the same game? Leino scores a goal and doesn't suck? The Red Wings actually give a full 60-minute effort? Do my eyes deceive me?

Anyone know when the jersey #s will be announced? I want to get a Team Finland Filppula jersey or T-shirt.

What Five Current NHL Players Do You Hate the Most?
bonan78 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
1) Perry 2) Carcillo 3) Tootoo 4) Ott 5) Kane Honorable Mention: Ribeiro Eager Pronger (my hatred of him dropped considerably when he went to the East, we only have to see him once outside the Finals) I consider myself a fairly open-minded person, and I'd like to think that pretty much any player who plays his role well is worthy of at the very least grudging respect (i.e. Getzlaf, Crosby, etc.), and while I boo them mercilessly when we are playing against them, I would cheer just as hard for them should they sign with the Wings. However, there are certain guys, especially the ones listed above, who due mostly to their attitude, I will never support: Perry, while he is skilled player who plays a physical game, reminds me too much of the toadie in A Christmas Story, the guy who hangs out with the bully and runs his mouth, but it really a pansy who can't take a punch. Carcillo, the walking definition of "intent to injure" Tootoo, the minority equivalent of Carcillo Ott, I don't know, there's just something about the guy that irritates me Kane, aka 20 cent, that one's self-explanatory. -
Agreed, you can't really be considered the player of the decade when you played less than half of it, no matter how big of an impact you had. That being said, I think Lidstrom gets the nod, with Brodeur a close second. Iginla has been steady, brilliant at times, but only one SCF appearance during that time. Neidermayer was a consistently great player, but the only Cup he was really a major factor in was in Anaheim. Thornton has had great regular seasons but has been a constant playoff choker. Sakic had a brilliant first half of the decade, but didn't really do much in the latter half to warrant being called player of the decade.

I completely forgot about this play, that has got to be the only time that the "Forsberg" move has been successfully executed in a game situation. That definitely belongs on the list, I would bump the Theodore highlight in favor of the Malkin goal. Also, the order was completely wrong, no way a shootout goal should be ahead of any of the in-game moves they chose, and I would have the Ovechkin vs. Price goal much lower, sure it was a nice move to lose the defender, but he basically plowed his way through the goalie and somehow the puck managed to cross the line before the net came off, not even as impressive as the Nash play, which should not have been as high. But, as someone else said, this was compiled by TSN, and they have their preferences.
