Oh, look! They were talking about the 'Nucks!
-
For our team . . . or the opposition?

If we get him that many $1 hot dogs, he won't fit between the benches. It's pretty close as it is . . . It is pure irony that Rafalski is already off the ice and they have to debate a puck drop and the game continues for a few more seconds. It's a strange analogy for the mindset of the Wings during the last minute of the period, how the Wings have played(or haven't) for the month of December. I know, like crazy, right? Damn biased FSN Detroit prick broadcasters!

That little "diddy" on the organ was just sick and wrong.

Any leftover hangovers from New Year's should be gone by now, so let's play like the team we saw in October, please and thank you. "Motivation," "hustle," and "60 minutes" are your words for the day, Red Wings. Meditate on them and use them. And BTW, I don't even like to let any thought about such subjects as a "thing-that-shall-not-be-named" enter my mind during a game, let alone speak it's name.

So he had a concussion during Game 7 of the 2009 playoffs too? I didn't know Pavel was coming back early! For Cindy:

They just helped prove my point!

I knew it was dangerous to bring up massage therapy on this board. I, for one, am not trying to find out who "the hottie" is for the reasons the other guys are, seeing as I'm a girl, but being a massage therapist myself, I would love to have her job. I do think it would be tough to maintain professionalism mostly because it's an all male dressing room, and I doubt there is too much discretion with showers/changing. I can't speak for her, but I doubt she's blurring the lines between personal and professional dealings with the players, or she'd no longer have a job (but I'll try not to squash the fantasy of other posters on here ). I love how Ozzie is so serious during his throw as well!

I love when they post videos like this because you get to see the guys in their own environment in a relaxed atmosphere. But I want to know, who is the girl with the team? She was in Ozzie's 400th win picture too. Is that one of the massage therapists for the team? Damn, I want her job. I should have taken more classes in sports medicine instead of prenatal massage!

Ha, I like what you did there, tying it in with his avatar! Ha . . . I personally like all the guys on the FSD team, but I'll admit there are days when Mickey Y, John Keating, and Murphy get on my nerves. But I don't dislike them 100% of the time. I've met John Keating, and he is a really nice guy and pretty funny to listen to in person. I do love Ken and Mickey though. The games are just not the same when those two are doing the broadcast together. And in true LGW fashion, the thread is derailed on the topic of beer. I personally don't drink beer all that much because it's too bitter. That being said, strangely, I enjoy Guiness. And will occasionally also drink Mike's, Woodchuck, and some specialty brews.

As well as practicing "The Worm."

. . . for the 2011 Winter Classic.

Is this going to become a trend now? Granted Leighton didn't play last night, but are the goalies of the NHL going to look at the schedule and see they're playing Detroit and say to themselves, "Oh, s***," and wonder about job security? I guess we're just the bad luck charm for those NHL teams with three goalies, eh?

Thanks for the info! I knew the tickets were on sale today, but the notices I received said it was only for Monday - Thursday games. I was able to get the April 8th game like I wanted. Great seat, great price!

12/31 GDT: Islanders 4 at Red Wings 3 OT)
Miss Wing Queen replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
That's a nice one, puckloo, but they showed an even nicer one at the Joe. I'll see if I can find it because it has some great video including his first start, his fight with Roy, and different Stanley Cup moments. -

I thought it was a great celebration, and I was really excited that he scored in his first NHL game. This kid is going to be big. I was sad to hear Eaves was out, but really excited that Tatar was in and that I'd get to see him in his first game. But I thought it was kind of strange how he kind of bowled into Rafi and then went to hug the other guys. But I just chock that up to "what happiness looks like" as Ken said. I am a big fan of both Ozzie and Jimmy, but one thing I don't like that Babs does is set one standard for one player and a totally different standard for another. When Ozzie plays bad or not up to par, we don't see him for a few weeks to a month, but when Jimmy has a bad or not so great game, he gets another 5 to 10 starts to "work it out and get his game back." I just wish Babs stuck to his philosophy that "you have to earn your spot on the team for each game" evenly for ALL players on this team. I am in no way taking on the "sky is falling" thought process with our goaltending, since this has been mostly just for December only, but I feel Ozzie has definitely showed more consistency that Jimmy and deserves an equal number of starts. I think Jimmy would benefit from some competition to drive him to work on playing consistently both in games against tougher opponents and lesser opponents. Look at the beginning of 2009 between Conklin and Ozzie. I was at the game last night, and they only showed part of the tribute to Ozzie on TV. What they showed on the big screen at JLA was really special, starting with a clip from his very first start in the NHL (and how young he looked). The arena was so loud with applause and cheers for him, especially when they showed "400 regular season wins." Congrats, Ozzie! You deserved it! Happy New Year, everyone! Here's to a great 2011, especially a terrific June 2011! -
Me too! Thanks, Patty!

Milestone Watch - Chris Osgood Approaching 400 Career Wins
Miss Wing Queen replied to gcom007's topic in General
It's sad that when I first looked at this thread and saw it was posted December 12 and had Ozzie at 397 wins, I was thinking that the poster was way off the count since obviously he is at 399. Then I saw that it said 2009 . . . Ha ha! I really want Ozzie to play on Wednesday against the Blues because I'll be there for that game. I'm on stand-by as to what jersey to wear--30 or 35--for that night, and I really hope it's 30. Get it done, Babs, so this man can have 400 before Christmas! -
I'm mad because this is the first year I won't be able to go because I have to work. I used to work right by the Hiller's in Northville too. By the way, Kronner has been ringing bells all season long!
-
It's now up on the main site here.. It will be Thursday, December 9th at different Kroger locations, Hiller's in Northville, and Hockeytown Authentics.

Osgood will start on Saturday... JMac sent down to GR
Miss Wing Queen replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I'm expecting some rust on Ozzie, and the game may be more challenging, but my expectation is not perfection for a guy who has played a handful of games in as many months. I'm cutting him some big slack for Saturday's game. And all I have to say is I'd rather get him started now in a rotation than wait until March like last year and wear Jimmy out (although he has the stamina of a bull). If we lose, we lose. If we win, even better. The overall benefits far outweigh the negatives. -
I hate to say it like this, but don't you think it's more a popularity contest than a quality contest? As was said above, it's about image. And who has been plastered across the TV since June? Toews and Keith, not to mention others who will remain nameless (but nothing changes in regards to that). I was miffed that Howie didn't get on the ballot seeing as he was a Calder finalist and everything, but I look at the same way as mentioned above--if our guys don't get in, at least that'll be energy saved for the finish towards April and beyond.

If Mike severed his flexor tendon, it's definitely going to take closer to 3 months or more, I'd guess, for him to return. The flexor tendons in the forearm could be compared to the severity of a torn MCL or ACL (except that they don't bear any weight). Every movement of the hand is directly related to the flexors, and with some nerve damage, that just increases the injury. He'll have to go through a lot of PT afterwards to break up scar tissue and regain full range of motion, let alone strength in that arm. Good luck, Mike. Get better quickly!

The Toast of Hockeytown is tonight at the Joe, and I wondered if anyone from LGW is going? This will be my first year going, and especially after that dramatic ending to last night's game, I'm very excited. Just curious if anyone has gone to ones from previous years and what it was like?

I went to the one a couple of weeks ago with a friend who is a STH. I had an absolute blast and wanted to do everything. We were lucky to be in the section for Lidstrom and Eaves, then jumped in the overflow lines for Homer's group and Z's group. I got almost everybody's sig except for Franzen's and Modano's table. I have most of their sigs anyway so it wasn't too big of a deal. I was mostly excited to be able to tour the locker room and to go skating on the ice. That absolutely made my night, second only to drinking out of the cup. I was in the last group, so we had a lot of open ice. There was a ref there for a game that began after the open house, and he was really nice and allowed me to use him for different poses (fighting with another girl at center ice, going into the penalty box, entering the player's bench). Cheesy, I know, but hey, that's the photographer in me. He even took video of me skating. Standing on the Hockeytown logo at center ice in my hockey skates was the ultimate experience for me.
