    Howard Changing Masks

I liked the other one better, although I like the creative thinking with this one. I would have incorporated more of a purple/grey for the mechanical arms to match Al the Octopus more so. Did he have them paint over that other design or is this the same type of mask but a completely new one, cause it would be cool if he auctioned off the other one.

    No Hockeyfest?

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't seen any news about one, and last year, they had it about this time. I couldn't go last year, and was looking forward to maybe going this year. Oh well . . .

    Training Camp!

I've already started counting down the days. I will be there Friday through Tuesday. This is my third year going and my first year going to the dinner for the golf outing. I am SO excited. This year, I really need a fun getaway as I just had a stressful move, and Traverse City and Red Wings are the best tonic for it.

    Red wings Photos

Happy Belated Birthday! Mine was yesterday, and I would have loved to have gotten a new jersey . . . or my own personal Wing! I love the pics of Franzen beating up a certain crybaby, Kronner shouting in glee at Z, and of Kid Rock.

Red Wings Training Camp 2010: Who's going?

I've had mine since June and am eagerly counting down the days. This will be my third year, but this year, my fanaticalness (I just made that word up) has finally rubbed off enough on a family member, and she's joining me too. I have tix for all four days, but I will be spending most of my time in my usual spot along the barricades getting autographs.

    Training camp?

I second that, Kira! 45ish days until camp is too long to wait. I can't wait to see how the renovations turned out.

Watch what you eat at Detroit Area Pro Sporting Events

Did you all have to bring up Arby's? Now I won't be wishing for ANY hat tricks this season. While the 52% violation rating at the Joe is still bad, I also loved that the Verizon Center (Capitals) had 100% violation along with the Rays. Watch out #8--those brown things are not chocolate covered raisins!

    Stanley Cup Ruined by Girlfriend

I am ashamed of my sex when girls do stupid s*** like this. I would have smacked the ***** myself if it were me. And I probably would have had a broken tv by the fourth time of that happening.

If Wings faced Hawks in 3rd Round

I think it would have depended on what version of the Wings showed up to play. I think it would have been a tighter series than the SJ/Chi series and the Det/SJ series, but I feel we still would have had a better chance of losing than winning. Chicago is very determined this year, and it shows it their ability to hang around and grind out a win however they can. Saying that, though, I felt the Sharks looked extremely slow and could not take advantage of any of the opportunities they were given. The didn't play completely horribly, but for much of what I saw, their being out of position and not jumping on second and third chances cost them those goals that might have won a game for them. In a lot of ways, I felt I was re-watching the Det/SJ series but with the Sharks playing worse than the Wings. Like others have said, I'm kind of glad that we didn't play Chicago this year and have that possibility of getting beaten by them. We weren't showing our true colors in this year's playoffs, and I like the fact that if Chicago does go on to win the Cup, there is still that little asterisk in the back of Chicago's mind that says: *But we didn't have to go through Detroit to get here. Next year will definitely be interesting. And I can't wait.

Percentage of starts next year for Howard and Osgood

I'm hoping for a better year on the injury front so that Babcock will not be pressured to work himself into a corner as far as goalie management goes like he did this year. I believe that Osgood would have worked out his funk from 08/09 if the cards had been dealt better (him not getting the flu, the innumerable injuries, scrapping to make the playoffs). In about 60-70% of the games he played in October/November, Osgood showed promise of returning to his 08 postseason form. However, I really believe his lack of starts stunted that for the remainder of the year. Howard stepped in and proved that he had won the job, and under the circumstances deserved the starter job. The good that came out of it of course is that we learned what Howard is made of, he gained a ton of regular season, and some playoff, experience, and we made the playoffs. But Babcock's ideology of "there's always tomorrow . . ." for Osgood was detrimental to the team to some degree since he screwed himself out of having his backup prepared in the regular season and come playoff time if needed. Now I understand that things went the way they did in the best interests for the team making the playoffs, but Babcock really needs to learn from this mistake so as to prevent it from happening in the future. As the coaching and management staff has already made clear to the players, everyone will have to begin the fight again for their job come September. And that is only fitting because it challenges the players to up their game and bring their best. The same goes for Howard and Osgood. We don't want Howard to follow Mason's footsteps, and with one year left on his contract, Osgood can still show that he deserves to play for the Red Wings. Overall, come September, I'd like to see Howard get about 60-65% of the starts, and have Osgood get 35-40%, but have the starts evenly distributed and managed, and of course, have above average to exceptional performances from both goalies. It just seemed like we were always walking a fine line this season and holding our breath as far as the goalie situation went, always wondering how far we could push our luck, and I would like to see this team avoid that if possible next year.

    Last Year's Off Season

The difference this year will be that Holland won't be dangled along in a disrespectful manner like last summer because Lidstrom has much more class than that. We'll know by July 1st, and Holland can make moves accordingly, if necessary, instead of a month before training camp.

    Boston/Philly Game 7

:puke: I just don't understand the twisted reality of these players doing better once they leave the Red Wings (Sammy, Kopeczky (ha!), and now, Leino). It must be a thought pattern that goes hand-in-hand with all other teams bringing their "A" game when they're playing against Detroit. Watch, Lebda will be the next one. I only watched the third period out of the whole series. Boston was the definition of pathetic. When you just stand there with the puck when you're trying to enter the zone, you're bound to lose the puck with a physical, hungry Philly team coming at you. Come on now, is that what you call hockey?

    End of an Era....

ZMAN was referring to what Chelios jersey would be placed in the Hall of Fame, not what one he would wear to the induction. Of course they wear formal wear. Just like Shanahan did recently, I hope Chelios chooses a Wings jersey for the HOF. Congrats, Cheli, on a wonderful career!

    5/12 Playoff Gameday

So I turned the Pens-Habs game off after the win. Did Crosby "forget" to shake either Markov, Gill, or Gionta's hand claiming he was "too caught up in the moment?" Or maybe he just used another lame excuse to not shake hands with a team's captain, or in this case, alternative captains. Great win, Habs. Here's to a deserving, hard-working team winning the Cup this year. Go, Habs, go. You made my night, especially after hearing that was the last game at the Igloo. He, he. I almost feel bad . . . almost.

    5/12 Playoff Gameday

The Pens are getting their asses handed to them on a platter by the Habs. This is the only consolation prize that makes the early exit of the Wings bearable--that the Pens lose in Round 2 also. From the beginning of this round, I thought the Habs had enough grit and hunger to possibly win this series. I hope they make a lot of hockey fans happy and give the Pens a chance to feel the bitchy sting of karma and the heartache of losing a game 7 in their own building. Edit: s***, the Pens scored. Go, Habs, go!

What Was Your Favorite Game This Season?

That was a great game. It was the first Wings game my aunt had ever been to and it was a perfect way to end the night. However, I think that might have been the last time Z scored during a shootout.

What Was Your Favorite Game This Season?

Feels like I went to more games than I actually did: Pre-Season: 9/19 vs Buffalo Regular Season: 11/5 vs Sharks 3/3 vs Vancouver 4/7 vs Columbus Playoffs: 4/20 vs Phoenix 5/4 vs Sharks For the games I was there, the Columbus game where we scored 3 goals in 1:16 was so incredible and the Joe was so loud. Although Game 4 against Phoenix was amazing with Howard getting the shutout and making that save without his mask, plus when we killed off all the penalties in the third period the Joe erupted every time they cleared the puck (almost louder than when they scored, almost). For the games I watched, I loved the two clutch goal games with Raffi and Z scoring buzzer beaters, the one with Kronwall getting the OT goal, the game with Bert's spinning goal, and Miller's superman act. But one of the biggest and most memorable games for me was the night Lilja came back for the 1st time after being out for a year and a day!

Ken and Mickey are the good luck charms

I'm glad you were thinking the way I was last night. Besides, I feel calmer even when my team is not playing well when Ken and Mick do the telecast rather than having to put up with the shrieks and hyperactiveness of Doc Emmerick or the idiocy of Versus.

high stick to Jimmy Howard's face

At the time when I saw it, I thought it was another obvious missed call, but after seeing the replay, it looked like the Shark's player had his stick trapped around Jimmy's abdomen, and it looked like a teammate's stick (I thought it was Stuart) that got him in the face.

Especially when they made the point before the playoffs that they were going to call goaltender interference and diving.

WCSF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Sharks 4

I think what angers so many of us on here is not so much that we got these calls made on us, but that our side of the scale was weighted much more heavily than San Jose's. I agree that the 3 calls on Kronner, Cleary, and Flip were all legit, but the fact of the matter is that the refs turned a blind eye to a lot that San Jose did, but would give us a penalty every time Setagouchi wobbled just a little or for normal game-like activity such as checking. And one bad call on Heatley does not make up for it. If it would have been more even like in Game 1, yeah, I could easily accept that this teams' sub-par play tonight cost them the game. But when something is staring you so blantantly in the face, like the officiating tonight, it's hard to say it's all the Wings' fault. I really hope when they get to the Joe on Tuesday, the officials will be more professional.

WCSF Game 2 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Sharks 4

So utter ******* pissed off right now. I had to restrain myself from throwing my remote at the TV and ruining my nice flatscreen. I'm thankful it only ended up 4-3 with all of this bulls***. This series could be an evenly matched up series and still be entertaining if the refs let the teams just play. I think the Wings played okay given the circumstances, neither terrific or terrible. After a certain point it's hard to get back up and going when you've been knocked down so repeatedly. And no more games on any other station besides FSD. Every time we've been on NBC or VS only, we lose. Just listening to Babs right now, I give him so much credit for staying calm. But he said it for sure, you can't get any momentum or tempo going when part of your team never really sees the ice.
