As much as most of us can put 2 and 2 together and see the correlation between McCrimmon being hired as the defense coach and the defense rapidly declining, we keep asking why he still has a job. The front office, including Babs, are smoking something because they just don't see it. This article from this week shows the delusional state they must be in, first to say Kindl has been great all season, and second praising McCrimmon. But the blame is not solely on McCrimmon. These guys are just not finding any consistency, and they are relying on the excuse of too many games in too short of time too much. I know it's tough on players, but that's the schedule of the NHL. How is this year's schedule different from any other year or for any other team? Consistency comes from a desire to want to improve and to continually build on those improvements. The team has no motivation this year. Even last year, when they were similarly decimated with injuries, they strove for a common goal (to make the playoffs) at the end of the season and that drive showed. This year, they have the tools to be a great team (depth, lots of offense, goaltending that could be good if consistent, experience, and a team that on the whole has played together for many years and should have good chemistry) but they don't seem to care about using any of that to their advantage. While I love the Wings, the downside of this team is that it only puts forth an effort when adversity is present or when playoff time comes.

2nd that. Because I don't have oodles of money to spend on jerseys, I have to now decide between a Lids WC jersey or a Helmer home jersey. Way to make it hard for me, #43. Life is so tough! Not that I am taking credit in any way, but at the beginning of that PK, I said to the TV, "Now's a good time for a Helmer shortie." Thanks for delivering, Darren, and with Datsyukian style none-the-less!

Not really. Drapes seems to miss a lot more. Since all of our goals always seem to be called back and none of the opposition's are (foregoing which one should or shouldn't be, speaking strictly in terms of the penalties/goals disallowed evening out), should we just have Homer rush to the front of the net in situations where our team thinks it should be goalie interference on the opposition, and rather than the refs going by the rules, they'll just see that Homer was at the front of the net (regardless if it is his own) and think, "Rule No 1: T. Holmstrom in front of the net = disallowed goal" and say, "NO GOAL!" I was going to say, when are you finally going to give up the ruse and change your name back to Mindfly? And way to go, Franzen! "And God sayeth to the Mule, 'Let the floodgates open!'"

Wasn't that the line combo Babs had for Mo just before he got cut and went on IR? They had just started to get chemistry then if I remember, and I think Cleary had really gotten on a hot streak.
-
I'm sorry, but is there supposed to be something wrong with part of what you described?
-
Not that you see it in that pic, but neither do cacti and pucks. During the pre-game show for the Sharks, either John Keating or Ken said that Rafi had flown back to Detroit because his back was not getting better and would not be playing against Phoenix. If it's changed since then, I haven't heard.

You know that dollar hot dog sign would catch Murph's eye! He can't resist mentioning dollar hot dogs and miller lite.

Is it me, or does it seem like the FSD feed is zoomed out further than it normally is? I feel like I'm watching the game from the nosebleed section the players are so small on the ice.
-
Sorry, that was a bit of a generalization. I never liked either one of them when they were here. I especially don't like them now because Kopeczky finds his scoring touch when he plays us and Sammuelson for breaking Pav's hand. Plus, I'm a little biased with Lils, in case you can't tell.
-
With the exception of one. Lils may wear a ****** bag jersey, but he will never be one like others that have left the Wings **cough** Kopeczky and Sammuelson **cough**.
-
Pun intended? My gut is telling me this is what will happen. Replay of 09 but with Ozzie winning the Conn Smythe this time (oh, and us winning the cup too).
-
Or better yet, the first. Wouldn't mind seeing another G. Howe Hat Trick from #13. Wonder if Lils will be playing?
-
Go Wings. I'll be listening to Ken on the radio as I drive up north until I get out of broadcast range! Keep the streak going [i'm aiming this at both you, Wings, and you, Big Bert.].
-
It depends on how often they go diving.
-
Positive thoughts only, Hank. Think positive thoughts!
-
Yeah, but sad to say, our worse tonight was our best for many nights in December and January. Baby steps.
-
At the rate he's going, Bert is going to be right up there with Pav on the list of most two-goal games without a hat trick.
-
Exactly, so Bert better get his ass back out on the ice!
-
Please, Bert . . . . . . please! Third time's the charm!
-
Glad you had such a good time. I know it certainly sounded like JLA on the TV! If I had been able to go, I had wondered if I would be one of just a few Wings fans, but I'm surprised and happy to see so many down in TB. And I thought I heard the "Let's Go Wings" chant louder than the Lightning chant!
-
Ha ha. Lightning Thief. So does that make Stevie Zeus? Or if the Wings win, are they demi-gods? I was going to be heading to Florida and going to this game, but of course, that didn't happen. Oh, well. Have a great game, boys, and let's start stringing these good games together! GO WINGS! P.S. My dad is a snowbird in Florida, and I told him that his GM and his team better be nice to my team.

Illitch "definitely committed" to new downtown arena

What about Howe Arena? Or better yet, Howezerman Arena? -
No problem! I recorded the video today at the game, but I dare say, the RW TV one is better quality. I got a little teary eyed too watching it.
-
You didn't miss it because NBC didn't air it (that I know of). Here's the video they showed at the Joe today. They also showed it on 12/31 against the Islanders, and everyone gave Ozzie a standing ovation and the chant of "Ozzie" was so loud that night. This afternoon was nice too, but not as fresh off his 400th victory as the 12/31 game was. http://video.redwings.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=-6&id=97569

Just got back from the game, and it was one hell of a game. I was at the Boston end when Bert scored the first goal, and it felt like slow motion, watching him tease Thomas with the puck before backhanding it in! GREAT game by the boys. Nice to see Big E have a really good game, Kronwall get a nice hit in there, and Bert continuing on his hot streak. The tribute to Ozzie was really nice, and Draper's son, Kienan, had a great birthday today, watching his dad score a goal and be named one of the three stars: Keep her going boys, and show them Lightning whose boss!
