Bert took it away because Weber hadn't folded down both halves (one side was still vertical) and was reenacting Game 1 using the Zetterberg plush figurine.

Side note to Shea Weber: It's Friday the 13th. You might want to avoid anything associated with the number 13.
Just sayin'.
Amen x 13! I've had a feeling since the schedule was announced that tonight will be Pavel's night!
Amen x 55!! Kronner's ass almost did some damage on Wednesday night. Let's hope he really gets to lay someone out tonight!
Go Wings! Let's go streaking again! Say, 16 in a row?

This is pretty gray area although I think it was clean.
Did Kron target the Voracek's head? I say no, his head was the closet part of his body to Kronner due to his head being down. A clear intent to taget would have an elbow or shoulder aiming for his cranium. Since it doesn't appear that he targeted his head then the principal point of contact is moot.
Did Voracek put himself in a vulnerable position just prior to or simultaneously with the hit? Yes. He saw Kron, Kron skated at him and Voracek put his head down, tough luck bro.
Was the hit AVOIDABLE? Any hit is avoidable, as in you don't check at all and you let a player pass you moving into your end. I know this part of the rule is more or less written to single out dirty blind siders and to protect situations such as the one that happened with Z and the boarding incident a few weeks ago.
Will this be reviewed? Without a ******* doubt. Im also expecting to hear Mike "Im a cock sucking ****** bag" Milburry and Jeremy "lose the Jerry curl" Roenick team up on Kron in this situation and finish the evening having makeup sex. Will that make a difference? Depends on how Anti-Wings this gets in the media. I would expect this to be a suspension if the masses start screaming for retribution. Shanny has been pretty lenient with the Wings and he may be called out for favoritism if this goes to him for a decision.
Im glad that Kronner floored Voracek. Those type of hits keep other teams aware that we arent a bunch of ***** Euro players that are afraid to play physical. I am praying that Kron doesnt get a suspension cause hes our only hope on the blue line right now. We simply cant afford to lose ANOTHER top liner right now. We are missing a full line plus a goalie right now and they are our stars. I anxiously wait with my fingers crossed that this goes our way.
I looked the rule up again too just after the hit, and I agree with your reasoning. On first look, I would've said it was suspension-worthy. But after watching the different replays, you can clearly see Voroacek look up and see Kronwall a second before the hit, then he puts his head back down. I believe that he holds a share of the responsibility of this hit because rather than leaving himself in a vulnerable position after seeing Kronwall, he could have tried to veer away from the boards or not put his head back down and forward. Kronwall delivered a devastating hit, but a clean one--he didn't leave his feet, he didn't use his elbow or stick. Could he have let up? Maybe. But I agree with Murph and Stuart when they said don't you think the opposing team's coaching staff would warn their wingers to keep their heads up when Kronwall is in their zone along the boards? Especially since these Kronwall hits are not a new trend and are pretty publicized. It will definitely be reviewed, but I don't think (or at least hope) it won't be a suspension for Kronwall. If it is, that just opens it up for players to abuse the rule.

Thank you for sharing this article. I think about Bethann from time to time and pray for her and the kids. I know Ruslan was only with the Wings for 1 year, but I wish the Red Wings would have honored him and Stephan Liv with Brad too.

As soon as we lost control of that puck, I couldn't help but flashback to the 11/21/10 game vs. Calgary. Thank you, Pavel, for recreating that night minus overtime and the +1 for the Preds.

That's exactly what I would love to see
I really like the look of that one too. With the WC logo and the Winged Wheels on the shoulders, it would be great. I wonder how the names and numbers on the back would look?

Where Dawn, Karen, and Linda when I need them???
Hmph. I guess I don't count.
If you need a Hottest Wing Goalie Girl, count me in too!

Well, he did keep asking Corey Potter if he was related to Harry Potter. And in turn, he ends up with the HP scar.
In all seriousness, hope he does okay and it heals well for him.

I am oddly psyched for this game. Hope the Wings are, too.
I think I might have an addiction issue with Wings hockey. I am already dreading summer, for more than one reason.
Me too, Loo.
We better fix our power play. We maintain pressure, but we don't do much with it.

Murph on NHL 36 after Ken mentioned the crew following Lids to the hotel last night: "With all 3 or 4 of them sharing a bed. Must have been crowded."

Anybody see Ville Leino tonight?
Yeah, I saw him . . . in the box, all night long!
I was at the game, and it seems like most of the GDTers were too. (Nine pages?) Got to see the first three goals up close, real beauties. Sad that Miller got pulled in the second, but it was a tough game for the Sabres. They had jump in the first half of the 1st, but they slowly started to lose it after the first goal and definitely after the 2nd and 3rd coming late in the period.
Way to go Wings on the 15th win, Pavel's 700th point, and Jimmy's shutout!

Nothing against Nick, but it would have been great to have Pavel in this commercial.

First, I don't understand why this post has not been merged with the other relevant posts or why it is worth pinning. Hardly any of the comments discuss the topic of the post which is the future of hits by Stuart or Kronwall, not the Fistric hit or past hits by Stuart or Kronwall. Saying that, while I love to see great (but legal) hits by these two, if they are dwindling on hits in exchange for more focus on improving their defense, offense, or "goaltending," that is an exchange I'm fine with seeing.

Kronwall is not. Franzen is not. I do see a few others, but mostly lower tier players....
As of Wednesday night, at the Toast of Hockeytown, they were, unless they have shaved since then.

...nice to see the Red Wings supporting movember....wtf? Are they too good for the cause?
Actually, quite a few of the guys are: Zetterberg, Franzen, Commodore, Conklin, Emmerton, White, and Kronwall are (although some are "lighter" than others).

Well (knock on wood), I have a perfect record so far this season of wins when I go to the games, so here's to me being added to the pile of lucky charms. Play the game, play simple, and the goals will come. Don't overthink things, don't try too hard or try to be "cute."
Go Wings!

I agree. I think Eaves needs to dress every night. I don't think that Homer should be in the rotation for who's a healthy scratch UNLESS Babcock insists on keeping him on the fourth line. If he plays with Pavel and/or Zetterberg and he is regularly used on the PP, then he needs to play every night. But he has no chemistry on the fourth line, and in that case, switch him out for someone else that might click better.

Nice game. I don't remember having so much fun watching a team play hockey in a long long time. They just look like they're having fun, and so am I.
Me too. There is just a hum about this team so far this year. They really do seem to be enjoying playing, and a new sense of energy has definitely seeped into this team with the addition of some younger/newer blood.
-
I was going to say the exact same thing.
Hoping for a good game.
Great minds think alike, Dawn!

Why Abdelkader is on both 3rd and 4th lines?
Abby was just THAT good the last game.
-
Even though they say they're hungry, I'm worried about having had such a long break.
If the boys play a full 60 minutes, I say 3-2 Wings.
If they look like they are still watching baseball, I say 4-2 Canucks.
I'll be going tonight and will be rocking the "old man Lidstrom" jersey in 218A.
Go Wings!
Will Detroit win this series?

I was at the game last night and on several occasions, I heard various parts of the crowd yelling "Shoot! Shoot it!" myself included. They eventually would but always too late.
Last night there were quite a few times, especially in the third where the fans were booing (and not just for Weber). Every time another PP failed, and especially at the end of the game. The team has stated that they did not like being booed off the ice at the end of last season, and that was part of the reason they wanted to up their game at home this year. After the streak, that seemed to go out the window. You would think that hearing it during the last regular season games and during the playoffs would be enough of a trigger to get them going. And not many people left until about the last minute and especially after the third goal last night. In fact, from about 2:47 on in the third, EVERYONE was on their feet for the remaining minutes. That was when they had showed the video montage they always do at the end to "make noise" with clips from different movies.
If Detroit can pull out of this, they need to remember that "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Rinne is good but not infallible. If all the shots you are putting on this goalie are from the right and left point, he is going to see it and stop it. In games 1-3, they had some really good chances when all three forwards came in hot and heavy, but stupid things like Hudler never being able to catch a pass on his stick and one time it, prevented that from going any further. That and this damn hold onto the puck and skate the whole perimeter of the offensive zone s*** has to stop. Get traffic in front of Rinne, storm the crease, be there for the rebounds when they come. Their star players need to start pulling their weight and showing why they have these hefty contracts (Franzen, Datsyuk, Filppula). And for God's sake, hustle! Don't stare at the puck when it's two feet in front of you and wait for the Pred player to get and come to you. Get some jump in your step and show that you actually want to be a playoff contender instead of just coasting into the playoffs to add another tick to the tally of consecutive years in the playoffs and then not caring what happens after that. /rant.
