Is this a ginger? -
Baby steps. First he will start by picking on Old Man Burke...

This is why Kenny signed Ericcson for so much. Big E is going to use his size and strength and pressure other GMs into acquiring Hudler. This makes great sense.

In times of peril, we can all agree that GMR will lighten the mood up. That had me laughing, thanks man. -

He promised us great things this offseason; we have the right to want the Wings to ice the best team on the ice every year. -

Big E isn't even young. He is already 27, and he is pretty bad. -

This is like taking some crappy employee, calling them inside your office, and instead of letting them go, promoting them to become CEO and a free game of golf. He was terrible the last two years... -

I agree one hundred percent. He had a great run, but he is losing his touch. -

Holland has always been overrated IMO.... -

If the money is accurate, what in the seven seas was Holland thinking? -

Exactly. I don't like signing at all. Looks like E will be the Rafalski replacement! -

Ehrhoff's rights traded to NYI, then traded to Buffalo

How do we even know that draft pick ever pans out? You have got to be kidding me man> -

I agree 100 percent. Holland should have pressed the issue more. Especially nowadays with most teams trading picks away for players' rights. Apparently it isn't worth trading your draft picks away because they are the future. Yet, we never know if those players we draft will even become successful NHLers like an Ehrhoff or a Wiz. -

Arguably was one of the worst players in the Boston cup run. He isn't going to be hungry for a championship either. But, he will probably end up on our team. God, we are turning into some retirement team as of late. -
They don't count and you know it . I see what you are saying, but I want to be proved otherwise. Thanks for a discussion.

Yeah some leagues overseas don't count. I view it as NHL or bust, that is all that matters. NHl is the toughest league out there, doing well in the SML is nice, but until I see this kid being able to sustain many rigorous NHL seasons, I don't buy the hype. Why would no other team draft him, if he was such a young and upcoming dynamic player. On this site, Holland and the draft staff is often viewed as some special god that is able to whisk players out of nowhere. Yes, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and even Mule were great decisions by the staff to draft, but not all these young guys are going to end up like them. Other teams have just as competent gms and draft staffs (que the Burke jokes here).

Teemu Pulkkinen is injury prone last time I checked. I just don't agree on calling these young players steals of the draft when they haven't played in the NHL for a few years even. Get back to me in 10 years when these steals are tearing it up in the NHL and winning championships for the Red Wings. More than likely, out of all these steals, maybe 1 or 2 will pan, maybe.

It is hilarious how every draft people on here start going "OMG steal of the year hur hur hur hur" Yeah, I'll see in 5 years how these steals worked out for us.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons
stuck in socal replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Just goes to show how all the good things come to an end eventually. Rafalski was a great player for both our Red Wings and the New Jersey Devils. He played the game and his position with a lot of skill, and he was a great ambassador for the NHL and American hockey. Thank you for servicing the Wings Mr. Rafalski, you will be missed out there. <3.
