Babcock wants to roll four lines, and I guess he thinks that Miller-Abdelkader-Maltby is more versatile and quicker than when May is out there, esp. if May is going to be spending some time in the penalty box. Will the Panthers be dressing an enforcer? If not, that could be another reason I guess.

I didn't know you worked in investment banking!
-
It must be because the Leafs are tough and the Wings are a soft Euro team.
-
This conversation isn't mentioning Mitchell Callahan enough. Also, Franzén will get an A, but only during the playoffs.
-
If Lilja can't come back, a 3rd-pairing stay at home defenseman.
-
My best-case scenario? He's ready to play in Feb./March, gets his game back in time for the playoffs, and Ericsson gets to play with a solid, stay-at-home defenseman instead of Lebda. In any event, it's certainly good news.
-
Meech will play with Janik, according to MLive.
-
Babs said that these pairs will warm up, but may change in game: Lidström-Kronwall Stuart-Lebda Janik-Meech
-
Haven't seen any of the GR defenders play, but is it unreasonable to think that Janik might be the one called up instead of Delmore? He has 6 points (1, 5) to Delmore's 2 assists, and is a plus 4 (Delmore is a 0). Granted, Delmore has more NHL experience and is more gifted offensively, but I just get the impression that Janik is more of a stay-at-home guy less prone to errors.

Well, Williams has a decent record. Hudler was pretty good, but I swear that he almost always used that deke-to-the-backhand-and-roof-it move. I would like to see Bertuzzi get a shot, he has decent hands. Leino would be interesting too. Also, it's not the Forsberg move, Nilsson did it first...

Well, the minute the WIngs stop winning their division and getting 50+ wins is the minute I stop supporting them. Why cheer for a losing team?
-
What he said. Why don't we call up Nylander in his place
-
Totally - drawing a line is for losers! Bertuzzi is such a wuss, why didn't he give the defender who pushed him a two-handed slash to the mouth? It's all part of the game, man!
-
If he's hurt, he can thank one of his defensemen. Re his mask, what's the deal with his captaincy? I know that he had a C on there last year, but didn't see it on his new one.
-
I think he would be feeling better if at least a third of his post-shots had gone in... He's getting and making chances, and I'm sure he'll start burying them eventually. In the meantime, he's backchecking well, and it looked like he was getting something going with Cleary and Draper (though it looks like his linemates might change tonight). I'm confident a couple of goals will start coming before long.
-
Totally. That's why they don't really care that he's out at the moment, as long as Koko is still playing. It's also why they signed the Hoss to a really long contract, in the hope that they can persuade Kopecky to sign one of a similar length when his runs out.
-
I'm wondering if the Leafs didn't sign Wallin (Gustavsson's teammate and captain back in Sweden on Färjestad) as part of getting Gustavsson - kind of like how the Hawks got Hossa's housemate.

L0L y wud u hav Danny Markov on ur fatnasy teem?!?

Re defensive call-ups... What we would be looking for is consistency (scratch Kindl) and solid, no frills defensive play (scratch Delmore - he'd never play the point on the PP so what's the purpose?), and some degree of experience, which I guess only leaves Janik. But the question remains, is he really an upgrade over Lebda?
-
Hmm... I think that we lost because they scored more, and while we may have had 82 shots (circa 50 on goal), it doesn't mean that anywhere near all of them were quality chances.
-
I think that you are overlooking the defensive/offensive failures that we're experiencing - goaltending is important, but no goalie can win a game on his own.
-
Forsberg and Lidström.
-
And I think that the coaching staff should give him a vote of confidence after this performance to show that it wasn't his fault that we lost by starting him in the next game.
