Johnny Oduya is not African-American. Forsberg = waterfall/rapids mountain Bergfors = mountain waterfall/rapids

I don't think that he was seriously saying that 'it got better, so that's good'. He made a wry, self-deprecating comment because he clearly knows that he played badly in the last two playoffs he has been in. That said, he shouldn't be captain.

Petr '100%' Klima Brad 'Useful' Norton Mikael 'Sharpshooter' Samuelsson (though I guess we all found out how much we missed him when he left...) Mark 'Two Cups But Still Incognito' Hartigan

In 2002 he did have a few partners, but I believe that he spent most of the playoffs paired with Olausson.

I downloaded them from NHLtorrents a while ago, they're great fun to watch.

Re Mindly, while Detroit isn't quite as bad as Montréal, it doesn't exactly have the reputation of being an easy place to play in net...

I've always wondered if his wine is actually any good... The name puts me off, and the fact that it is associated with someone famous (wine with a celebrity sponsor tends to be average wine that is overpriced). Anyone know?

You need to take the 80s factor into account when using those point totals... In any case Sandström has more goals (including two forty-goal seasons) and an .87 ppg average, compared to Steens .86 average. Also, Sandström was a key factor in our 1997 win I'm not necessarily arguing for his inclusion, merely saying that there are more worthy people than Steen. I don't see who he could replace even if you did want to go with him...

Abby is busy working out, playing in charity games and finishing his degree. He's made it pretty clear that he's left most of it to his agent. I'm sure it's just a matter of small details.

To watch: 1. Hockey (NHL, then international, then SEL). 2. Rugby union (international, Heineken Cup and finally national leagues (don't really support a particular team)) 3. Soccer (international) 4. Tennis 5. Cross-country skiing (not sure why, but I've always absolutely loved watching it) To play: 1. Rugby (including touch, which I play a lot of) 2. Soccer (though I haven't played since uni) 3. Hockey gets a low rating primarily because I grew up (and now work) in Belgium, where there isn't really any proper hockey league, so I've never played at a more serious level than roller-blading on the street or skating on the pond with friends. 4. Skiing, but I've never done it competitively. 5. Racquet sports (badminton followed by tennis).

It's a tough one, I agree. But no mention of greats like Andreas Lilja, Robert Nyström and Tomas Sandström (not to mention the Swedish Sieve!)? I then spent some time writing about why Nilsson should have been included in your list. Then I saw that he was. For the sake of debate, what about the top ten Swedish players in WHA history? Ulf Nilsson Anders Hedberg Kenta Nilsson Willy Lindström Apologies, it is one in the morning and I have just gotten home.

It would also have been quite mean of the Wings to ask him to play in NA, considering they had just stolen Jokerit's big signing (Ilari Filppula).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that people are really failing to understand the voting policy. My understanding was that the 'candidates' announced at the end of each season are the three players who got the most votes.

Robert Lang has been playing for several seasons now...

But that is what Malik does...

Rugby is better than American football. What they played in the World Cup was soccer. Hemingway is amazing. End.

Stevie had the advantage of having two willing combatants on his line for some years in the 80s in Gallant and Probert. The current roster doesn't really have anything to offer, and Downey certainly doesn't have the same combination of skill and toughness that they had.

People, this is a guy who couldn't cut the Islanders line-up! As far as I know, they're not in cap trouble, so before everyone starts with the 'Kenny, get 'er done!', consider if this is really a guy we want...

Overpayment by Sather's standards? No, it's a good deal, taking into account some of his other signings (Gomez, Drury, Redden, Boogaard). Whether it is overpayment by league-wide standards is a different matter. But who knows? Surely Sather has got to get some of his decisions right... (I wonder if Gaborik will stay healthy this year too?)

Get that lumber in his teeth, let him know you're there!

Remembering Derian Hatcher's tenure with Detroit
NGKEIB replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
His tenure in Detroit wasn't a success, but I was watching the World Cup of hockey 1996 finals recently (need some hockey in the summer...), and he was great then. Fair enough, he could get away with a lot of stuff, but in the first game he had two goals, and wasn't afraid to jump up in the play. -
Two goals by one player in a playoff game 5 seconds apart? And we all know who that was N.B. it may be a regular season record too, but I'm too lazy to check.

Unless Maltby nabs it...
-
Don't overlook the fact that he played 5 whole games in the NHL!

I guess this is one of the few thread topics where people can be comparing Sutton to Stevens and Volchenkov to Konstantinov and actually get away with it
