According to TSN Neil and Ottawa can't come to terms. Moen is also available.

None of the Ottawa player pages work. Are you suggesting they've traded their entire team?

Kenny is saying that it doesn't look like he's going to make any trades, but if he was going to look for someone, he would look for grit and depth.

Roberts probably won't happen, but Neil and Laperriere bring a level of physicality higher than what Maltby and co. can aspire to. They also score some goals too.

Gaylord Entertainment Center - doesn't that refer to a way of life?

    Downey

Didn't mean to repeat what you said, I thought of it independently and posted at the same time...

    Downey

Interesting speculation. Maybe they just wanted to luxury of having a tough guy up their sleeve or someone who's an energy guy and leader for the young Griffins.

Those were the days indeed. What was it? Four men on the St. Louis bench at the end? It would have been fun to see Kocur vs. Quenneville.

"I forgot he was a Red Wing!"

I agree, I can't believe I'm hearing names like Martin LaPointe, Aaron Ward, Slava Kozlov etc. being tossed around - I don't see how you could forget them!

Chris Neil available for draft pick

I for one would certainly love to see Neil in a Red Wings uniform. I don't think we can afford to have a one-dimensional enforcer (à la Boogaard) in the line-up, but Neil is a great energy player. In the game against Dallas, even though we lost, I thought we outmatched them physically. Downey's presence may have had something to do with that, but I think that Neil would be better than Downey, for the reasons you say - he has some (albeit limited) offensive upside, he can hit and skate, and isn't a bad fighter. Downey, as much as I love the guy, doesn't meet these criteria (nor does McCarty for that matter). I think he would certainly fit in on our fourth line. Does anyone know if he plays on Ottawa's PK? In my mind, some defensive abilities would be a clincher, because apart from experience, that is the only area where, say, Maltby would have an edge.
