He dug his own grave when he didn't name Lilja and Eriksson to the team.

Modin certainly wasn't the problem. Unfortunately he was sick the last game, but he had played well up until then. I think that Gustafsson blundered from the start, namely in selecting the team. I think that we should only have taken 7 defencemen (one of Oduya or Johansson should have not been taken), and an extra forward (Samuelsson?). His forward lines could be questioned (Weinhandl and the Sedins did absolutely squat, Hörnqvist's line didn't get going until the last game and Franzén stayed on the fourth line too long). His reluctance to practice the PP until elimination rounds, and to only use dedicated PP units in the Finland and Slovakia games can be questioned. Finally, his coaching in the Slovakia game was just poor. That said, I don't think you can blame Lidström's sub-par play on Bengt-Åke... Perhaps most irritating of all is his instistence that he has no regrets if he had another chance would do the same all over again.

Zetterberg played well defensively, and don't forget Flipper.

Isn't it obvious? With the Lily's imminent return on the horizon, how could we fail to lose a single game? The only uncertain thing about the rest of the season is whether or not they will let a struggling Lidström retain the captaincy - it is only a matter of time before Lilja gets it (either Monday or next season).

None of the Detroit Swedes played particularly well I thought. Henrik was good defensively the entire tournament, but only against Slovakia did his line play well offensively. Kronwall and Lids were good on the PK, but nothing special when playing ES. Franzen was decent, but Sweden's best forward line was Eriksson-Bäckström-Alfredsson. Douglas Murray - get 'er done, Kenny!
-
Let the record reflect that neither Nick or Nik had a good game today. They were the pairing that was on the ice for both of Slovakia's even-strength goals, both of which were odd-man rushes because one of them was out of position...

It's not that he banged in a rebound, it's that he did it while standing next to Nick!

Mike Milbury uses 'Eurotrash game' to describe Russian hockey
NGKEIB replied to Ruys92's topic in General
There is nothing wrong with Eurotrash, so Milbury was wrong to use it, because the Russians didn't play well. -
Well, Modin and Påhlsson have both been very good. At least one of his goals was set up by Påhlsson throwing a hit, and Modin passing it to Franzén (or something like that). Not to say that I don't think that he should be switched with Hörnqvist...

Zetterberg the best swede in nhl, accoring to Team Sweden players
NGKEIB replied to a topic in General
He has actually changed his name to Elisabeth Bäckström. -
Good for Canada, he proved in the last playoffs that he can shut the door in big games.

Finland's PP was at 50% before the played Sweden. Stats in a tournament like this aren't always telling.

Sweden will be keeping the same lines for the game against Finland, with them all probably getting the same amount of ES ice time (though Gustafsson hinted that he would have dedicated PP units). Great...

2010 Winter Olympics - Belarus vs Sweden (Group C)
NGKEIB replied to redwings8831's topic in General
I'm fairly sure that for the game against Finland we will see some line changes, as well as dedicated PP and PK units. I would expect Franzén to switch with Hörnqvist. Alfredsson has been excellent (our best player so far), but he looks good with Bäckström, so Weinhandl may continue to play with the twins. I doubt we'll see Påhlsson and Modin on the powerplay again, but they still played well. I take back any criticism I made of Gustafsson when I found out that he had picked Modin. Johansson didn't look like Bambi on ice this game, which is a clear improvement. Lundqvist should start every remaining game. We looked better than we did against Germany, and hopefully this trend will continue against Finland, though it is a shame that our game against Finland won't be a do-or-die one for both sides, as those are always much more interesting. -
2010 Winter Olympics - Sweden vs Germany (Group C)

Well, the obvious answer to that is to use www.myp2p.eu! -
2010 Winter Olympics - Sweden vs Germany (Group C)

Regarding streams, try www.eurovisionsports.com, but it may require a Swedish/European IP address. I live in Belgium, but have access to every single event of the Olympics online (lots of it without commentary) through the Swedish government television channel's website, SVTPlay.se. It requires a Swedish IP address to watch, but a very easy way to do that is to use relakks.com. It costs 15 euros for three months. -
I think that the Mule is on the fourth line because Gustafsson is for the moment watching his ice time (it seemed apparent in the game against Germany). I'm sure that he'll get more ice time as the tournament progresses. Murray was fun to watch as usual, Germans were bouncing off of him as they tried to hit him. Magnus Johansson played as expected - soft, unable to handle the German players in his own zone etc (but decent offensively). I have no idea why Gustafsson chose him - if he wanted a SEL defenseman, he should at least have taken a bigger one. He won't be able to handle any of Canada or USA's players...

Strangely, whenever the Worlds were to be played, Sundin was available and Lidström was usually busy. Why could that be?
-
Augmented reality - get used to it.
-
I agree, Ozzie certainly hasn't been good these past two playoffs. We could have had Dan Cloutier in goal and still gotten to the finals.
-
How did Lilja look?
-
There is a very obvious bright side, and I'm surprised that you didn't mention it. The fact that the NHL is taking a two-week break gives Lilja more time to get back.
-
Not sure about that last part. Sjöström is a great penalty killer. He and Betts were one of the best PK tandems in the league when they were together in New York.
-
If anything he would take Rafalski's.

Williams can in theory play centre...
