Being a poor, deprived Wings fan living in central Texas, I have only been able to attend 4 Wings' games in my life, all against the Stars in big D. 1 win, 2 losses, and a tie. Anyway, I was wondering how many of you guys and gals have been to a Wings' cup-clinching game in '97, '98, '02, or '08? Especially the first one, since that must have been the most remarkable of the bunch in ending the 42 year drought. For those of you that were at one of those games, what was it like? Anyone make it to more than one? All 4?

sounds like an awesome memory, Xym hope the Wings can put together another run like that one sooner than later

as long as he keeps them clean, he should not have to fight over it, though plenty of times the opposition has felt he ought to anyway

Doesn't anybody remember the heroic exploits of Jason Williams during that run?

1. '09 of course; I watched the highlights of Game 7 once but I cannot watch any of the Pens celebrating afterwards, esp. Crosby that hand-shake line snubbing jerk 2. '96- only the 2nd playoff series I had seen at that point, couldn't believe we got shutout in Game 2, then later realizing how the record-setting regular season had been all for naught 3. '07- if we'd had Kronwall and Schneider for that series we woulda beat those a-holes, and if we had I'm confident we also would have beaten the Sens for the Cup; also, f#!* Chris Pronger 4. '99- as mentioned before, started off so well winning the first 2 games on the road, then the wheels completely fell off in Game 3 and it was all a horrible nightmare after that 5. '03- have never watched highlights from that series because we had none, it was all Giguere honorable mention- '06- such a strong regular season that was suddenly snuffed out so quickly; also, f#!* Chris Pronger

Apologies in advance if this has been covered previously, but didn't see it anywhere else Looking at our current roster, looks like we have only 8 players remaining from the '08 Cup run(Pav,Z,Mule,Sammy,Cleary,Helm,Flip,&Kronner) and just one other who has a ring in Miller(though I don't count him so much as he played only 3 games during Anaheim's run) and Kronner is the only d-man I was thinking that perhaps instead of trying to land some big name d-man in a trade where we would likely have to overpay, maybe we should be trying to sign a free agent veteran d-man to help out the rest of the defense, b/c also right now Kronner is the oldest member of the group at 31, with the avg. age at 26.8, so we're as young as we have been on D for quite some time This is of course assuming that our current d-men perform at least near expectations, and if that happens, we could benefit from a guy like Kubina, Spacek, Rozsival, Hannan, etc. Y'know a guy that can help provide leadership to the younger guys both on and off the ice Thoughts?

Fedorov was my favorite player when I first started watching hockey in '96, and he will always be remembered fondly overall for all that he did for the organization and fans, but I still would have to say no to having his jersey up in the rafters; he would have needed a better work ethic and have been less of a prima donna, plus, as others have already pointed out, the manner in which he left in '03 will be a source of animosity for many shame it ended the way it did, he was never the same player after that, and no matter how many times I saw him play on other teams, he always looked so out of place in other teams' jerseys, I don't know it just always looked strange to me to see him not wearing the winged wheel I mean could you have imagined Yzerman wearing a Ducks jersey? or Lidstrom in a Flyers sweater? or even Shanahan in a Rang... oh wait, nevermind

LOL that's the excuse Franzen supporters will use until next playoffs

not sure what game it was, but Legwand covered the puck with his glove while it was in the crease and then took it all the way to his own bench so the refs wouldn't see it or be able to figure out what he had done the commentator said the game was scoreless at the time and we would've had a penalty shot
