How painful was it to watch that 3rd period?
-
Very cheezy........the mid to late 1980's had to be one of the worst periods in the history of music.
-
It's just un-original bad music.
-
I disagree..........the rash of injuries has destroyed the chemistry of this team.........not to mention that some of the injured players happen to be the better two way players on the team. The team will hold it together well enough to secure a good playoff position. As long as they're playing well in March and April, little of what happens in January really matters anyway. We've all watched enough hockey to realize that.
-
It's not like they've had injuries. Lighten up.

No s***. St. Louis has made huge strides during his tenure
-
A feeble attempt at defending a weak position. For someone who wanted to "just drop it", you're having real trouble letting this one go. Sometimes silence is golden.
-
Your body does in fact start declining, especially the physical aspect involved in being a professional athlete. If that were not the case, alot of athletes would have their peak performance years in their mid to late 30's as opposed to their twenties (See Gretzky, Yzerman, Messier, Jagr, Brett Hull, Roenick, Modano, and many other recent retirees.) And yes, I'll gladly drop it if you will.
-
Your statement: "About that body declining. I wouldn't say it's shortly after 30 when player's body starts to decline. I'd say it's closer to 35 than 30. In fact I don't know any player who at age of 33 for example have started to decline." If you really believe this, you're an imbicile. Look at the statistics, they don't lie. A huge majority players have started their decline before the age of 33. Just admit you got caught talking out of your ass and go on your way.
-
Any you're trying to argue semantics (I'll define that if you like). Whether it's 33, 35 or 37, what does it really matter? If you think more than a small handful of athletes have ever realized their potential in any sport at that age, I'll have some of what you're smoking. I'd have to think you're in a very small minority with that mindset. SERIOUSLY!!!
-
I only respond in that fashion when provoked. Closer to 35? Ahh, I see, in Finland that logically makes you more correct than "shortly after 30". Thanks for the clarification Einstein.
-
I'm talking about players reaching their potential or, in effect, getting better after age 28. But since you said that the body starts to decline "after age 33", your statement was even more idiotic. Don't resort to personal attacks just because you make moronic statements. I bet a fraction of a percent of all athletes (unless they are performance enhanced) set any kind of personal bests after they reach their early 30's. Don't think so much when you are obviously ill equipped.
-
So be it...........but as an impartial observer, Newfy is more right on this subject than you are.
-
I think at age 28 you pretty much know what you've got. How many guys reach their peak/potential after that age?

Toews: Most undeserving Conn Smyth winner in history?

Fraud? How's that? He was often the best player on the ice. I'd say he was pushing the wagon, not riding on it. -
Interesting question. The cup winners in the next three seasons, Dallas, NJ and Colorado, all had strong goaltending. All would have been formidable opponents.

Have to disagree here. If a situation such as this happened (as it does everyday) outside the sports world, management of any company losing a key employee to a competitor would wish no success to the company the leaving employee went to if said success occurred at any expense at all to their company. I would assume that the defections of the capologist, Verbeek or any other employees from Detroit to Tampa would at even a miniscule level be detrimental to the success of the Wings (or else why would they be employed by Detroit?), and as a fan, this has to be of concern. Those mentioned at this point might play only minor roles within the organization, but at what level would it concern you? A more prominent scout? An assistant coach? Other VP's? Fact of the matter is, the success of the Wings always trumps everything else........and that includes any success or "good wishes" to Steve Yzerman or Tampa Bay.
-
Wow.......people bitchin' about the Wings resigning Lids, and Leino double shifting in OT of game 3 of the SCF. Strange days indeed.
-
For this team, for one upcoming year, Lids at 6.2 is a better value than any of them. Longer term, obviously not.
-
Imagine if he had gone to another team. What would he add to a team like the Caps? (Just a hypothetical.....don't you capgeeks go nuts on me)
-
Figures that Kopy would show bigger stones in 1 period than a guy like Williams has in his whole career. Wasn't Kopy fancied over Flip by some in the front office early in their careers?
-
serious?
-
San Jose chokes this round............Chicago lays down the next........What could be more perfect? Quennville will find the way.
-
Chicago to make the finals..........then lose. I'll get to go to a Chicago home game if they make SCF, and I'll love rooting against them.
