Sidney Crosby - The most hated player in the NHL
soonboomer replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Why hate Crosby? As a Wings fan, he's never hurt my team when it was clutch time. -
Will you discontinue paid NHL viewing for next year?

Do all chicks carry wallets? -
That's the psychology of sports. It's all situational, and the Wings embarassing Nabby and the rest of the Sharks in game 4 set game 5 up to bring out the best in the Sharks. (as evidenced by their dominance in period 1). Facts are we couldn't win a crucial face off in what seems like every one of the four 1-goal losses. That and the other little things the Wings of the past excelled in abandoned them in this year. The Wings had a lot of the same faces as they did in previous seasons, but time has taken its toll on many of them.

If only the league would eliminate the salary cap..............................

Series was lost in the 3rd period of game 3, but overall, I'd have to admit the best team won. Should be an interesting next couple of months.

"It might not have looked good at the time, but Red Wings coach Mike Babcock expects Stuart to be in uniform for Game 5 of the series, which is Saturday night in San Jose." from NHL fanhouse.
-
Great win.........the kind that will bring the Sharks' best effort of the series in game 5. Still a huge uphill battle, but if somehow the Wings take it Saturday nite, thoughts of their choke history might get back into the Sharks' heads.

Quite comical

That would make him the 2nd best player in Pens history, behind Mario.

The Wings appear to have packed it in. The game tying goal by the Sharks in the 3rd period sucked the life out of them. Their body language in the OT had "give up" written all over it. All of these points about what needs to happen for the Wings to win.........fact is, when it comes down to crunch time, the Sharks have been the ones imposing their will, not the Wings. All you eternal optimists..... just think back over the course of this past season, and ask yourself.........was this team even in the same universe as the '08 and '09 teams? Were you even confident, over a stretch of more than a few games, that this team could go out and dominate other quality clubs? Sometimes you have to be real...........and by doing so doesn't mean you're any less of fan. Chicago is better than last year...........San Jose surely is too, as can the case be made for Vancouver. The losses of Hossa, Sammy and Hudler were never overcome. And, as much as I like Howard, he hasn't been anywhere near a playoff quality Ozzie. For the past decade the Wings have been the team to beat.............things like that don't go on forever........not in hockey nor any other sport.
-
Or maybe San Jose is just playing better.........making the Wings legitimately take bad penalties..........you know, like the Wings have done for so many years prior to this. This team was outshot and out "time of possessed" in more games this season than probably the rest of the decade combined. Thinking its was all going to change in the playoffs was wishful thinking. They have too many parts of the puzzle who no longer fill the need. I still think our stars are good enough. It's the role players on this team who are not as good as other teams have. Rolling 4 lines used to be a strength............this season it has put them at a disadvantage. This is a transition year.........just as next year will be if Lidstrom retires. Holland needs to earn his pay. And I'll have another vodka and cranberry.

The Sharks are the wings of a couple years ago. They are better at puck possession. They force the Wings to take bad penalties. They are the better team.
-
As if that wasn't going to happen.

Amazing

Highly influenced by man advantage.

Vancouver 2001?
-
How much of the 3rd did the wings play at even strength?
-
Time for a flip appreciation thread.

Sharks fan hugging the cup......PRICELESS!!
-
Is it impossible for someone with such strong feelings for another man.......so strong that he wishes him success to the very detriment of his own favorite team..........to be of that persuasion?
-
I bet game 7 of the SCF was a nightmare. Cindy rendered virtually useless and the Wings losing. Could it get any worse?

I figured you might agree. Who's pitchin' and who's catchin?

My dream vacation is a nite for 2 in Mario's basement.

Like I said, unconditional manlove. No matter what the topic, it always comes back to defense of the Golden child.

I can't wait for the Redwings fan whose favorite player is Pronger to grace us with his presence.
