    Red Wings fans

Every game I have been to the past five years I've seen the most ridiculous fans at Red Wings games. I have never seen this topic brought up but I am fairly new to these forums so I dont know if its been talked about. 1. Why are there so many people strolling into the rink late? Don't get me wrong, I know things come up and there is traffic but it seems like it happens all of the time. 2. Why are people up and down non-stop during the period? This isn't a friday night high school football game, I actually go to see my team play which is kind of hard when people are standing in front of me all of the time. I missed two playoff goals last year because someone was going down to get something to eat. 3. If you need to go up or down, how about a tv time out or even a stop in the play. While you're doing that, maybe you could hustle a little bit. 4. Why are there so many people who have no clue where there seats are? Its really not that hard, and if it is, please ask an usher and they will show you exactly where to go. It seems like I miss at least five minutes of the first period with these people standing in front of me, looking all over for there seats. 5. Why is staying until the end of the game so hard? I understand that everyone wants to beat the rush but if there is only a 1 or 2 goal difference in the game, everyone should stay. Again things come up and people have to get to work or school in the morning, but again please at least try to leave during a tv timeout or at least a stopage. Anyway, this has been bothering me for the past few years and so I just wanted to see what other fans thought. The last straw was listening to the swedes talk about how they are looking to play in front of their fans back home next year. You will hear subtle jabs about the fans in Detroit. I think Franzen says something like, "The fans back home don't get up in the middle of the game to get a burger." Its pretty embarassing when your own team notices how many people don't pay attention to the game. You can hear the wings talk about the fans on Red Wings tv- Wings to Sweden. Yes, I am a season ticket holder and I actually go to see the Red Wings play. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks for the heads up on the fact that you have never talked to Osgod, I'm glad I know that know. You don't live in Detroit but you spend the majority of your day on the Red Wings forum and ironically in a forum talking about the fans of Detroit. Snag a hobby while you're not responding to this post. I made the Hockeytown comment because the name Hockeytown leads me to believe that people would go to the game to actually watch the game rather than be getting beers and high fiving there other loser friends who are getting beers. Thats the only reason I referred to the hockeytown comment. Again, what are you doing in this thread if you're not from here. You don't have a hockey team where you're from or do you just want to be on the winning team. That may be a strong reason why you know very little about hockey. You're a huge plug for getting so into something that doesn't even pertain to you. Good job.

That would imply that I said I was smarter than someone on this thread. If you can show me where I said something of that nature, I promise I'll grow up.

Why would I need sympathy from you? It was just a normal thread until you guys had to try your best impression of Dirty Harry. This thread/site has only reinforced my belief that this city knows very little about hockey and should hop on the next sports team that gets good. *Creative comeback- douchbags = you. Did you and Osgod talk that over?

I think people who make lame jokes just to be ****** bags are below me. I also think people who say "troll" (cant come up with anything on their own) are below me.

You guys a pretty funny. Let me guess, you're a construction worker and you live in an apartment...shocking.

I made this thread to talk about the fans at games and see what everyone else had to say about it. I never was trying to make a change, thats why this is just a discussion. I don't know if you guys realize this yet but this is just a discussion forum. Babcock, Holland, and the rest of the players aren't going to listen to what you have to say, thats why its called a discussion. For some reason this thread turned into a "you're not going to be able to do anything about it so worry about yourself." Again, I'm not trying to change anything, its just to see what other fans thought. I finally was able to see that the majority of the fans posting on here are the same guys that go to the games to socialize. The majority of the responses have been about "people pay their money so they can do whatever they want." I guess I was out of line to ask the question why don't people to go there to actually watch the game and then at intermission go down and get their fix. I have no idea why that question was out of line but a lot of people were confused by it. I've been to other arena's and its not nearly as bad as Detroit so that's why I was asking the question. Let me know if anyone has a legitimate response to the discussion rather than who cares what the players think (which makes no sense), people pay money so they can do whatever they want, or give the reason that people unpredictable. I think its predictable that if you say you're going to a Red Wings game you're going to watch hockey. The question I ask is what happens after that?

Well that and the fact that I miss a lot of the game because people seem to not realize theres a hockey game going on down below. I thought this city was referred Hockeytown. Also, clever line.

Did you say f*** the players? I'm believe the players are the only reason you log onto this site. Its not hard for me to tell what type of fan you are when you say f*** the players just because you think going up and down a million times is acceptable. Its safe to say you're the reason I decided to write this thread. Someone who goes to the games to treat it like a high school football game, a cool social gathering. Can you also drink 100 beers at the game?

The usher is too busy during the middle of the play? I find that hard to believe. Its not like you have to take a number to ask the usher a question. He/she can actually tell you were you're seats are in about 5 seconds, not that long. If the usher is responding to an emergency, yes I will help but its really not that hard to ask the usher

I have no problem standing the whole game, not sure what you're talking about. The problem with standing is I have 10 guys behind me going wild because they can't see which then brings me back to the original problem. Because the issue isn't standing or sitting, its simply being able to watch the game that I paid money to see. Please come up with a comment that actually pertains to the problem. Also, you still cant compare a guy dancing at a concert to a guy going down to the concessions at a Red Wings game.

This is hockey, not a concert. A concert is totally different. Chances are you know very little about hockey if you just compared the two.

I know. It was an exaggeration but it could be like that if you wanted it to be. Thanks for a knowledgeable post. Its a lot better than, its their money so they can do what they want. Or its everyone's first game and they all got caught in traffic.

So are you totally clueless? I simply asked if people wouldn't stand up during play, why is that so hard to ask for in a city called Hockeytown. For example- Fan- "Excuse me usher, I got stuck in traffic but can you tell me where my seats are." Usher- "Sure, they are right there." Fan- "Thanks that was helpful. I'm going to wait until the tv timeout so I don't block anyones view." Usher- "Thats a good idea, its only going to be like 50 seconds anyway." Fan- "Exactly, there is no reason not to wait, plus I can see the ice better from here." Usher- "You should try that when you want to come back down as well." Fan- "Oh I will. And at least ill be sitting then." (chuckle chuckle) Usher- Laughing...."Good one. Enjoy the game."

They are a rich and popular team because they are a powerhouse. Did the Pistons and Tigers have good fan support when they were horrible. How about the lions this year? Where was their fan support?

OK. For people that still don't get it. I don't think I'm a super fan, but yes I think I'm a better fan than the people who don't pay attention to the game. Many people on here have expressed that it is annoying and frustrating trying to watch hockey with some a-hole going up and down getting beers during the middle of the period. (to that guy who does that. this isnt high school. no one cares how much you can drink) I started this post because it was embarassing listening to the players talk about our fans like that. You know, those same guys that lead you onto this site everyday to see what they're doing. Also, I love the "worry about yourself" everyone has thrown out. How about this? Just respect the people around you, its really not that difficult. I probably can add if this stuff doesn't bother you, you are probably the person annoying the hell out of me at games. Therefore I am confident I am a better fan than you. Sorry. To the fans that do feel the same way as me, thanks. I appreciate the fact that you like to watch hockey.

If it is their first game, then I totally understand. But to say it is everyone's first game would be a lie. No, I have never got up during the play because I can wait 15 or 20 seconds for play to stop. I dont understand why people think thats asking for the moon.

Thank You. Looks like you're a Canadian that wants to go and watch hockey. I don't think thats too much to ask for at a hockey game in a city called Hockeytown.

Every person coming to the rink late works until 7 at night? Probably not the case. If you do have to get up, can you at least give me a stoppage in play. Its really not that hard, it happens frequently. Seats- "Excuse me usher, where are our seats?" "Go up 10 rows and turn to your right." "Thanks. That wasnt hard at all."

You're a Red Wings fan but you don't care about what the Red Wings say? I'm not sure if that makes sense. Also, Six Flags. What?

    A. I don't like to pay money to see some guy stand in front of me while I'm trying to watch the game. B. A- is even worse when you pay more for playoff tickets and end up missing goals. C. When the players notice, there is probably something wrong. D. I asked for thoughts, no reason to be a hard on about this. If you like watching people stand in front you thats fine, but I don't.

    Hossa to Sign Soon?

When a guy like Hossa says he wants to stay in Detroit you make it happen. Although keeping Hossa will mean letting someone (maybe more) go but I think that will be great for the cap and allow some younger guys to come up and prove their worth.

    Franzen vs. Cleary

Agreed 100%. Cleary is versatile and has more to offer at both ends of the ice. Franzen is also showing that he is injury prone which doesn't exactly fit his "holmstrom" type style in front of the net.
  25. mikiemike24

    Franzen vs. Cleary

although franzen has a certain scoring touch, cleary is the better all around player.
