    Worst Hockey Game Experience

That sucks op. I hate having any going-out experience (namely movies) ruined by some obnoxious pricks who should've just stayed at home. The only thing I don't mind out of that is the swearing, even with children around. I'm a fairly vulgar person because I just like using those words, and I think people need to chill out and just accept them. They probably wouldn't even be a big deal if people just realized they're words (as long as they're not used in an obviously inappropriate sentence, if you catch my drift). But back on topic, I remember one fan turned around and choked another during the Pistons last championship run in my same row. It was nuts. I thought somebody was going to be seriously injured, but the guy had enough sense not to tighten his grip on the other guy's throat.

    Lebda Scratched; Injury Updates

Then when Lilja comes back Ericsson can be benched for a few games. Maybe then he'll stop turning the puck over in our own end EVERY GAME.

1/21 GDT: Red Wings at Minnesota Wild

I'm getting sick of the new Detroit "blow a two goal lead" Red Wings. If we blow this game and LA wins, well, that would suck.
  5. http://espn.go.com/nhl/statistics/team/_/s...rt/powerPlayOps That's right. It's the Bettman Youth. The Pens total 213 power play opportunities this season. Detroit? 190 (about the middle of the pack). In fact, the Pens have 7 more opportunities than the 2nd place Dallas Stars which represents the second biggest gap between any two rankings on the stat sheet (the biggest gap is 12 between Calgary and Boston near the bottom of the list). Put on the tin foil hats. Conspiracy am confirmed.

NHL the #2 sport in America in 10 years

I don't get what you're saying. Do you really think he's a dirty player because of the knee-on-knee hit and some of the runs he takes. Or are you saying he smells funny? Crosby punches people in the nuts you know...

If only you could hit the goalie...

I'm all for goalies being fair game, but in some situations I don't like it. If the goalies behind the crease making a pass, I don't think he should be fair game because he is the goaltender, not a skater. In this instance the net would be left unguarded if he was taken out with a hit. I just see a lot of sloppy goals coming off of plays like this. And to tell the goalie to stay in the net would just slow the game down. How about he's untouchable behind the goal line? But if he comes out Carey Price style, mess him up!

Should college football be excluded? It's not technically a pro sport. I mean, sure lots of businessmen (Ahem BCS supporters) rake in the dough while the football players live off of cafeteria food (unless they go to USC). I dunno, I guess it counts because it is a sport and is religiously followed. In that case, hockey will never be above #4.

Guess who has the most power play opportunities?

Heaven forbid we discuss NHL stats/facts on a NHL forum! The conspiracy statement is a joke! I guess it's not funny because some people do wear tin foil hats and think Bettman is in bed with Crosby. I just think they give each other rim jobs...

Guess who has the most power play opportunities?

I hope you took the tin foil hat statement as a JOKE. Jesus. I just thought it was an interesting stat worthy of discussion. I mean, it's Pitt of all teams leading the stat. I knew that would spark some interesting debate. *plays X-files theme and reads truther web sites*

I see Crosby as being a good marketing tool. I see Ovechkin as a great, respectable marketing tool. But to each his own. Sure, Crosby has "worked", but I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it.

Guess who has the most power play opportunities?

To the people with the "highly skilled" teams argument: explain Washington's and Chicago's placement on that sheet.

NHL the #2 sport in America in 10 years

No other reason? Yeah, you didn't read my post. I understand Crosby is a great player (uggh, that hurt), but I'm saying Ovechkin is where the money is at. I see people liking him much easier than Crosby. But it's moot, because both are being marketed pretty well now I guess.

NHL the #2 sport in America in 10 years

Please explain. Ovechkin is a much more exciting, explosive and physical player than Douchey McDoucheson. He's a walking highlight reel and is very personable to fans (even of opposing fanbases). Crosby, on the other hand, is generally hated by people outside of Pittsburgh and Canada. The market we're looking at is the US, which craves physicality and excitement and not douchiness. Crosby jumps people, hits them in the nads, whines a bunch and has pubes on his face. So tell me, marketing guru, why not Ovechkin over Crosby? *waits for the english-speaking argument*

NHL the #2 sport in America in 10 years

Getting rid of Bettman is probably step one. Losing Crysby as the golden child and replacing him with Ovie (already kind of happening) would be a good marketing step. But number 2? Hopping basketball AND baseball? I mean, I'm all for it. But that's a little insane. It SHOULD be that way because baseball is horribly slow and boring while the ridiculous amount of foul calls in basketball ruin the sport. I don't see it ever climbing higher than 3. It could beat basketball in the short term. It could eventually beat baseball when people become more intelligent. But I doubt it happens, unfortunately.

    Kronwall To Return!

That's real good news. I expect the first few games he'll just play it safe, but come January 31st I completely expect Malkin and/or Crosby to be Kronwalled.

Bettman says solving hits to the head will take time

"We're looking for precision. Not over-legislation." Umm, how about no hits to the head. Is it really that hard? And while you're at it, take out the ticky-tack hooking penalties for good measure.

Bertuzzi Wants to stay in Detroit

I originally didn't like signing Bertuzzi because of how he's done for us in the past and a little bit to do with his rep. But he's definitely cleaned his game up (too much IMO) and has been doing stellar. I'll admit I'm a fair-weather Bertuzzi fan, but I'm all on board right now. Get 'em signed Kenny!

Guess who has the most power play opportunities?

I just thought it was an interesting stat. Why are Washington and Chicago so low if it's the "highly skilled teams" getting the benefits? Pitt ain't the best in the league this year.

Here's to hoping Ozzie isn't rusty after all those games he sat out. I'm kind of relieved to see Howard get a rest.

Why is nobody mad at May?

Josh Harding just took matters into his own hands with Ott in the Minny-Dallas game tonight. Gave him a couple punches to his ugly face with his glove and blocker still on! Then a Minnesota player jumped in when Ott started returning the favor. That's some good hockey right there and that's how you deal with that bastard. I'd love to see Ericsson treat Ott like he was Corey Perry and bash his douchey face in until he gets syphilis in the eye.
