Seriously, these bad boys look like airplane wings.

While the entire album wasn't exactly received well by fans, I'd love to see the guys at the Joe play Metallica's "Some Kind of Monster" whenever Jonas makes a big save or does something of significance. I think it'd be pretty cool, and I'm not sure how often songs are used in response to something a goalie does.

I'm almost positive he got the name before he came over to the NHL. It was given to him because of his play (he did very well in the SEL), not his size/height. I read it in an NHL article somewhere when he first came over to the league. Could be wrong, though. Edit: Looked up his stats in his last season in Farjestad. So I think it was because of his play. Regular Season: 42 games, 1.96 GAA, .932 Sv% Playoffs: 13 games, 1.03 GAA, .961 Sv% Sheesh.

Every one needs to just calm down. I drafted Mule onto my fantasy hockey team this season, so clearly he's going to score 35 goals... 30 of which will be GWG. He will not be traded, and we can all rest easy now.

Not that I'm saying they'll be tons better, but CBS is leaving P.M. Bouchard and Granlund out of that line-up. Both guys will prob factor in on Minny's top 6 forwards. They also list Torrey Mitchell twice.

Oilers Agree to Terms With Eberle on Six-Year Extension.

This is a really solid deal for the Oilers now, nevermind in 2-3 years when he's even better. Good for them. -
RUMOR: Wings have made an offer to Carlo Colaiacovo
Jesusberg replied to chances14's topic in General
No doubt Strickland's got some connections, but he's also made some claims in the past that never materialized. I'd say he's about 70-30 in terms of being right about things. Andy's credibility aside, I'd be fine with Carlo for a couple years. He's one of those guys who seems to play up and down, and just really gets hampered by the injuries. In the right setting, he can challenge for a top four spot. -
Ha! His name is Jiri Hu... oh wait, nevermind... In all seriousness, no need for another forward. As others have said, we've already got more than enough. The Wings need a 7th defender, not a 16th/17th forward.

Oh cool... another year of me editing the overall rating of players

Just saw this... what a huge bummer. I follow all the coverage of the tournament religiously. Ugh.

1) Whatever it takes to let me start watching hockey on October 11th. 2) The End.

Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?
Jesusberg replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
My biggest gripe is the tantrum the guy threw when he was wrong about Suter and Parise. When people were calling him out on being wrong, he sent out a string of whiny tweets about how he'd block anyone questioning him or his sources. If you've really been employed by four NHL teams, and have a number of credible sources, I'd guess that you'd be a little more professional than that. -
Who is your favorite player from a team besides the Wings?

I've always liked Doughty, even with his whole contract ordeal last season. -
Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?
Jesusberg replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
I'll take losing your moxie over losing your damn mind *cough*ScottHowson*cough* And yes, it's completely possible that Detroit's losing some of its allure. That's why Holland's stressed the importance of the draft the past number of years. I understand it's the off-season and there's no much to talk about, but nothing's going to be truly answered until the puck drops. -
It's ESPN. The Wings have one of the strongest groups of forward prospects in the league.
-
Oh, for sure... he appears to be in pretty good shape. I'd have to imagine he even jogs or runs sometimes too.

With cap space to clear, do Flyers become a Wings trade partner?
Jesusberg replied to Yzerfan1999's topic in General
Much like Detroit could be thinking with Mule and Z (depending on consistency and health issues). -

Jesusberg replied to Yzerfan1999's topic in General
Someone was asking me what the Flyers do if the cap drops, and this is what came to mind immediately. I guess the 35+ deals don't apply if it's part of an amnesty buyout. Edit: Also, I'd take either Timonen or Mezsaros from Philly for a prospect/picks package. I wouldn't want Corburn or Grossmann (because of the longer term). Timonen for a year would be pretty cool... he's a very solid puck mover and great shot blocker. He might be old, but he'd be a good fit and could come relatively cheap. Mezsaros is only 26 and has two years left at 2 million. He seems to be a little inconsistent, but if he maintained a top 4 spot, he could be a solid pick-up. -
I'm definitely all for either one of those guys stepping in, but I think Andersson should get the chance, since he's paid his dues. Regardless, it'd be an upgrade over Emmerton.

Signed Red Wings re-sign Quincey: 2-years, $7.55m total, $3.775/yr
Jesusberg replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
I wouldn't be totally opposed to carrying Lashoff as the 7th guy, but I would prefer them to sign one of the veteran d-men left on the market instead. I'd like to see some kind of stable, experienced presence to mentor some of the younger guys. I wouldn't be opposed to signing Kubina, Rozsival or Brett Clark for a season. Grand Rapids is going to be without Smith, Janik and Exelby next season, so Lashoff is going to get a chance to be a leader and go-to-guy on the team. I'd like to see how he does in that role for a full season. -
This is exactly how I remember it. The quality of chances the Red Wings had offensively were very limited. Nashville was very good at keeping Detroit to the perimeter and blocking shots. And yes, the team then had a bunch of defensive lapses themselves. Howard definitely wasn't the reason Detroit lost the series.
-
Exactly... if we're going to move someone out, it needs to be more than a lateral move (Semin, Doan). Those are guys who would bolster our top 6 (one moreso than the other, imo)... no need in just adding another guy who *might* be better. I'd much rather give Nyquist, Brunner or Tatar a shot over Mueller...
-
Aside from the skill he's shown, I'm really starting to dig the way he carries himself. He's got an air of confidence about himself and his game, and once he spends a handful of years with the team, I can really see him developing into a leader.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but in the past five drafts Detroit's limited their Swedish drafting. They've bumped up the number of Canadians and Czech/Slovaks selected. From 2008-2012 drafts... Canadians: 15 Czech/Slovaks: 7 Swedes: 6 Americans: 5 Finns: 1 Russians: 1

Agree on Pitts situation. They also have Kunitz, Sutter, Letang, Orpik and Niskanen to lock up the same year as Geno. I think the max offer Pitts would make Semin is 2 years, but who knows for sure?
