I can't help but love P.K. Subban. I like several Bruins players (Bergeron, Boychuk, Marchand) but I'm still pulling for Montreal, slightly. The fans are going to be a pain if they win, but so be it. EDIT: I say this and Boychuk with the goal, Bergeron with the screen. Wonder if I jinxed it, lol.

Nothing against the team at all. Someone I talk hockey with a lot is a huge Canucks fan, so sometimes it puts me off a bit. Any issue is with fans, not the actual team.

Honestly, just gotta give it up for Kesler. He had a monster year offensively and defensively. Like Mabuhay said, Datsyuk can take the Conn Smythe

I'd view the Sharks as a rival, and perhaps even respect them if they weren't gifted the series. Having a 10-4 PP advantage in a single game is pretty ridiculous, if I remember correctly. Especially considering most of the calls were mediocre at best. I generally don't look for any team to be routed, but I hope Detroit absolutely embarrasses the Sharks to make up for last year.

I can see the Stuart/Kostopoulos comparisons because of the position and timing of the hit, but in no way is it the same hit. Kostopoulos got his left arm out and pegged Stuart in the head, Brule glided into his hit with his arms tucked in and was square to Letang. The fact is Letang put himself in a vulnerable position to make a play, and Brule finishing a clean check shouldn't be an issue. The Pittsburgh announce team always makes me glad that I have a mute button.

I'm obviously partial to Zetterberg, but when I see that a guy who's "slowed down" is still top 10 in league scoring and one of the best two-way forwards in the game, I'm OK with it. Am I concerned with his lack of goal scoring/shooting? Absolutely. He's been hanging onto the puck too much and playing on the outside perimeter. I also feel that once the post-season hits he's going to go all out.

Remember when you could thumb down posts? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Ultimately I think it will/should be: C - Zetterberg A - Datsyuk A - Cleary and Kronwall alternating.

As others have said, the inconsistency seems to be a big issue. One game they'll pop in 7 goals, then can't score to save their lives the next. Similarly, Jimmy looks stellar for a stretch of games, then seems to stink it up. Hopefully they can all play with some real urgency leading into the post-season to prepare themselves for the long haul.

All fans should be so lucky to have this kind of problem. My obvious vote is for Zetterberg, but it wouldn't bother me too much if Datsyuk got it. I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but I recall Datsyuk saying that he would like to finish his career in Russia. I don't know if that means after this contract, or if he'd sign on longer. I do know that Zetterberg is going to be here as long as he physically can, and he's a much more "media friendly" player. I think comparing the skills and stats of both players isn't a true indication of who should be the captain. Each guy is supremely skilled in his own way, and when it comes down to it we're lucky to have both of them.

Ericsson's biggest problem is that his mistakes are so obvious. He'll quietly play a good defensive game, and then make a huge turnover and take a terrible penalty. The guy is +12 on the year and has 14 points. If I'm deciding between moving him or Kindl, I'd have to choose Kindl.

Does TSN's live stream only work for Canadians? I thought it was a North American proxy. http://www.tsn.ca/live/nhl/TradeCentre2011/ -

TSN could have started at 10AM instead and not worried about anything happening -

I had high hopes for Pyett too, but his game just hasn't transitioned at the AHL level. In addition to Smith and Almqvist, I would keep an eye on Nick Jensen and Ben Marshall too. They've still got aways to go, but both guys have great speed and good offensive instincts. They both need to work on their shots and physicality, though. Fournier could surprise some people too, but I have higher hopes for the others.

Noted on the LeBrun tweet, but I doubt Holland would show his cards if he had something in the works anyway. He's always been pretty quiet about that stuff. Looks like the trade was just a pipe dream, but I'd still love to be pleasantly surprised.

To be honest, probably what's on the table right now. Ultimately, I would go Hudler, Kindl and a 1st. It's hard to say exactly what Atlanta wants, because if I recall correctly they were offered two 1st round picks for Bogosian and they turned it down. Maybe they're in the market for active roster players.

The original source was a Tweet by Windsor Star columnist Bob Duff. I'm not sure how to link a specific Tweet, but his message from about an hour ago was, "asktheduffer Bob Duff Two sources confirm #redwings have kicked tires regarding #thrashers Zach Bogosian, but say deal unlikely to happen. #NHL" As for the cap space, I don't think that's an issue. Bogosian's bonuses are included in his 3.375M cap hit, if I'm not mistaken, and are treated the same way as normal cap unless they are differed to next season. I could be wrong, but that's my understanding on it. Moving out Hudler's 2.875M and Kindl's 883K would be sufficient. As Duff says, though, it's a deal that's unlikely to happen. I'd be all for it.

Agreed, but I think the Wings are sorely in need of a young defenseman. They've got all kinds of depth at forward with guys like Tatar, Nyquist, Jarnkrok, Pulkkinen, etc. for the future. And like I said, currently I think other guys could step up, not necessarily to Hudler's current level, but still solid enough. And Bogosian would provide a boost to the defense right away, imo.

Ray Shero must have nude pictures of Bryan Murray and Joe Nieuwendyk. -
And that other forward, if needed, is going to be someone who has a future with the team like Mursak.

I don't know what people don't understand about the cap era. Talent = cap space. People expect WAY too much out of our cheap, young defensemen. Detroit's a successful team who drafts late... They're not going to draft the next Shattenkirk. These guys are going to take some time to get fully accustomed to NHL play. People wanna throw away a rookie defenseman after 28 games!? Holy. Before anyone says, "Well he could be replaced by a solid veteran who is a lot better defensively for the same cap hit"... yeah, maybe he could, but we've also got an aging defense core and we need to see if any of the players in our current system can be solid future defenders. Right now it seems to me like Kindl is being asked to focus on his defensive game, because yes it is lacking a lot at times. But in that time, I've also noticed some very strong defensive plays. It's like almost any other guys the Wings put through their system; defense first. Kindl's played minimal minutes, being shifted up and down the line-up. He jumped into an injury plagued team with a lot of other issues on the ice too. Maaaaaybe in the proper setting, he'd be showing some better growth, but again it's only been 28 GAMES. If we threw away every player who struggled in his rookie season then we'd have about 3 active roster players.
-
Solid pick-up for a team that could sorely use some center depth, but the price is a weeeee bit steep to me. In the long run I think it'll be a good trade, though. He'll be happy with his new surroundings, and Nashville already has plenty of prospect depth.

I think it's somewhere in the middle. Zetterberg IS amazing defensively, and that's why he's used on the important 5-on-3 kills. He doesn't play regular PK because he's needed elsewhere. I don't know that he's "better" than Datsyuk, as Dats certainly has better backchecking skills, but Zetterberg is better positionally, I think. Both guys are very solid defensively. And if anything I think Zetterberg hasn't been mentioned in Selke races because of a lack of flashiness. He's often overshadowed by Datsyuk, and there are huge gripes when two guys from the same team were nominated for any trophy. Also, why are you allowed to have that user name, lol. I don't care, it's just funny to me. All things considered, if the Red Wings bounce back in a huge way, I think Datsyuk should be considered for the Hart. It seems like some trophies consider how bad teams are/were (Jack Adams) when determining winners. For instance, I think Lemaire is being considered for the Adams in a big way. Red Wings were pretty ugly without Datsyuk, and a big string of wins could put him on the map for the Hart. Just my opinion.
