I'd love either player, but at 7.8/7.5 million, there's no chance at all. Realistically, we'd be looking at a depth guy at best. I don't see them moving anyone on the active roster.
-
I was hoping that wasn't it. Oh well... onto Pulu and Tatar for future snipers of the world.

I recall hearing it in passing (I was studying at the same time) and then someone wrote it on here, so I figured I heard right. I'm watching NHL on the Fly right now and they've gone over it a bit too, but nothing specific has been said. Hopefully it's just a bruise.

You're not a stubborn moron, but sometimes I think you might eat paint chips. I guess I eat paint chips too, because I often agree with you. However, delving through your thinly veiled sarcasm, with Flip out (worried about Babs' comment about "we've lost Flip") I wouldn't be completely opposed to seeing Rex play center. Even with his defensive shortcomings, who knows... maybe it'd push him a little. I know he looked good with Datsyuk last night, but who doesn't? In the offseason I suggested we sign Boogaard (not for his NYR salary, mind you) and just tie him to the back of Datsyuk. With Pasha's bowed legs, he could support Boogaard easily and whenever anyone got near Dats, Boogaard could just go "RAAA!" and scare the crap out of them. Call me crazy, but I think that would be just as effective. So who's the scariest guy in our system? PS: Oh and uh... don't trade Filppula. He's injured

I like that his perspective has seemed to change some, but what I'm more curious about is his penalty minutes. As of today he's got 120 penalty minutes in 41 games, leading all Red Wings prospects. Am I missing something here? He hasn't had penalty minutes like that since he was in the lower tier leagues.

While it might seem steep, I'd be willing to cough up the four 1st rounders. I don't foresee the team being bad enough in the next little while to get anyone close to as good as Weber. We've got enough depth to ride it out, and there's always the FA market as an option for Detroit. They're a very desirable team to play for, so it wouldn't be as big of an issue like it is with other markets. I still think it'll be near impossible to put up enough money to get Nashville not to match it, though. Our best shot is if he were to sign a shorter term deal in hopes of going to a bigger market after it's done.
-
The only way we would catch him is if there were enough UFA/RFA's coming off the books this off-season, but there really aren't. Even with Nashville's self-imposed cap, they're going to have plenty of room to sign Shea to a hefty contract. Of course, he could just sign a one-year deal... and then next off-season... ooh

So we afford to lose a bunch of draft picks, right? Shea Weber, we're comin' for you!
-
Kessel!? Kessel!? Come on Nick...

Maybe it's just me, but Lidstrom's team is serious out-drafting Staal's. Ward was picked too early, Marc Staal was picked too early... Lidstrom has far better defense, and has stacked at center. Lidstrom for the win.

Look at that Central Division defense core, ha ha

Edit: Double Post

Does't make sense to me at all, but meh... it's their choice.

It's actually pretty much a perfect song for him, lol

No, I don't wanna post...

How does Marty Turco REALLY feel about Pierre McGuire?
Jesusberg replied to tdinc's topic in General
I'm definitely not a Turco fan, but I've gotta give him props for this one. Funny stuff. -
I'd be totally cool with tossing them Salei + a pick for Carkner. Maybe even another, young guy... but he'd essentially be taking Salei's spot.

This is pretty much what I was saying from the outset. I can understand how teams could abuse the system, signing guys from other leagues without the waivers, but really it's not like they can super stack that much. I think a better idea would to give teams some kind of limit on the overseas players they can sign WITHOUT them having to go through waivers. Give each team a chance to maybe sign 2-3 guys from another league, then anyone after that should be subjected to the waivers rule. I think something like that would still prevent teams from stacking themselves, and at the same time save the league and any bottom feeder teams this kind of embarrassment.

Was just about to post this too. This is what stuck out for me the most. Why not just say this in the first place, instead of saying he'd report to whoever claimed him. I don't think it would have necessarily deterred every team, as they might still want to screw up Detroit's plans for him... but still. Would have been nice for either him or Meehan to come out and say, "I want to play for Detroit, if someone else claims me I won't play for them. I'd rather just sit out."
-
Not saying that... I think the rule is stupid, regardless. I assumed he would be claimed myself.
-
The whole waiver rule for this is stupid anyway... Nabby signed a 550K contract because he was going to play for the Red Wings, not the Islanders. I don't even know if he would have been that good, but man this pisses me off. f*** you Garth Snow.
-
Oh, that's good. Touche sir... touche.
-
Joke's on you Islanders... you'll be relocated before you know it.
-
Well slap my ass and call me Charlie... what a wait for nothing, lol

You mean the same one we've been playing for over 24 hours?
