    Filpulla out tonight, Emmerton recalled

I'm excited to see how he does. I kind of figure he'll take Modano's center spot next season, but I guess we'll see. I wonder if he'll be wearing number 48 again...
  3. Just saw this on my Twitter from Kukla's Korner: "Just spoke with agent Don Meehan. He says no word on Nabokov being scooped off waiver wire"
  4. I think there will be a bit of a wait. If I remember correctly, there's usually a bit of time to make sure they go through all the claims properly.
  5. You could have said the same thing about Svatos and Wellwood, but we know how that turned out...
  6. This is all just a big distraction. In reality, Holland is quietly snatching up Larsson while using Nabokov as a diversion...

Seriously, was Halak asking Johnson and Brewer for the time?

Which NHL player have you met

I've only met a few, but mostly were positive experiences... Gordie: I met Gordie at the Joe when he was releasing a book. I was getting my copy signed, and my buddy who was behind me (who's a Habs fan) didn't have a book and was just waiting for me. Howe looked up at me and said, "Who's this guy? Your bodyguard?". My friend's face turned bright red as we walked away. McCarty: I got to meet D-Mac once when he was in Windsor. He was actually just walking downtown with some other guys one night and I bumped into him. I shook his hand, told him I was a fan and let him be after that. Adam Graves: I actually got to meet Graves quite a few times, in public and in private. My mother was dating a guy who was friends with Graves when they were children. I got to shoot the s*** with him for a lot of stuff, really easy guy to talk to. I was still pretty young then, but I remember getting multiple items signed including a poster and several hockey cards. By far the funniest/most embarrassing hockey player I've ever met was Kyle Wellwood. Being from Windsor he comes back sometimes to the local bars. The 2-3 times I've seen him he ALWAYS gets embarrassed when he's recognized, and even gets a little mad. I remember maybe the summer before last he was at a bar called the Beach wearing a soccer jersey of some sort. When people kept pointing him out he actually used the shirt to cover his face, pulling it up over the front. In the process he exposed his stomach, which was met with a lot of "Hoo Hoo" (Pillsbury Doughboy sounds). It was actually pretty funny.

1/18 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Penguins 4

    1. That was painful to watch. Time to step up guys. 2. I CANNOT stand the Pittsburgh announce team... seriously, it's bad. 3. Joined the "Fire McCrimmon" group.

Eric Staal and Lidstrom: ASG Captains

Lidstrom getting to pick his team may have just grabbed my attention enough to watch this thing. I mean, the selections will be made on the 28th, so I'll for sure watch that. I'm leaning towards watching the skills competition too, but the actual All-Star game... enh. I guess it really depends on how the teams get picked.

    Doughty HUGE hit on Hall

But that's not really hockey anymore, is it? Whether or not you think it's a shame that enforcers have a much lesser role in the game, (I do, at times) it still remains that superstars don't necessarily have a security guard. I think a lot of the reason you see all these scrums after clean hits is because the enforcer's role has diminished; pretty much anyone is attempting to "send a message" these days. Where a guy like Probert used to come on the ice a bit later and track the guy down, players just jump on the hitter because there doesn't seem to be an instigator deterrent like there is with a guy dropping the gloves the next shift. If you ask me, I'd much prefer one guy coming out on the ice the next shift or two over 5 other guys jumping onto whoever is at the bottom of the pile. I remember Kronwall's hit on Havlat a few years ago and all I could think was, "Wow, these guys are idiots" because their teammate was concussed at the bottom of the pile they were fighting on top of.

    Todd Bertuzzi - Emergency Goaltender

"What would you do if you had a guy like Holmstrom in front of you?" "I'd hack him down..." *tries not to laugh* Pretty awesome, ha ha.

super unreliable rumor about Daniel Larsson

I was ticked off about the comments that Larsson made at first, but if Osgood's going to be out for an extended period of time I say let the guy back-up Jimmy. If he sucks then it's "see ya later pal, you got too cocky" and if he does well then we've got a nice goaltending battle on our hands. I say we might as well try to see what use we can get out of the guy, because he's done pretty well in the SEL. EDIT: As an aside, I'm still not 100% clear on the rules for player transfer. Not even sure he can come over, since he signed a two-year deal with HV-71, or if the timing is even right too.

    Holmstrom suffers a broken hand

I know this sucks, but this picture needs to be photoshopped to death, haha

    San Jose Sharks

It's because Bombay keeps telling District 5 to dive. They've got no heart! But seriously, it's hard to gut stuff out when you just make excuses and play with no passion. Thornton's not about to start firing up anyone on the team. You need to lead by example, and he doesn't know how to.

    More 24/7?

I'd love to watch one on the Red Wings. They had some kind of special on the other day (I think it was CBC) and it showed Babcock and co. looking at game footage and commenting. It was for the 6-5 game between the Wings and the Canucks, and it was awesome.
  18. He took a look at Emma and decided not bring her around 40 other hockey players for the weekend.

1/10 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Avalanche 5

The only game that has been blacked out (for some odd reason) and Mursak scores. Figures.

    Next Sens GM...Pierre McGuire?!

I don't care how creepy he is, I want to see this happen just for the entertainment value. I have no vested interest in the future success of failure of the Ottawa Senators.

    What's the deal with Stuart

He's concussed, that's what the deal is. Jeez, you people expect miracles or something

Norris turning into "best offensive defenseman"?

Agreed with the shift, but until a purely offensive defenseman wins the Norris, I'm going to assume it still goes to the best all-around defender. Nominations are where it ends so far.

Norris turning into "best offensive defenseman"?

He'll be nominated, and he should be... but I doubt he'll actually win. Last I checked he had a 4 minutes of PK time TOTAL. All they're doing is highlighting his accomplishments, and there's nothing wrong with that. If the NHL was all about offensive d-men (like someone else said) then Mike Green would have won the last two years. Right now I think either Letang or Lidstrom is taking it, but obviously that could change as the season plays out.

    Thrasher's Eager suspended 4 games

I wouldn't expect anything less. I hate ever sounding like a homer, but the Red Wings tend to get bent over when it comes to the league deciding anything.
