    Trade Time?

Agreed. Kronner was playing well before the Black Plague, but all the other guys have stepped up nicely post-injuries. I think the only issue is limited ice team = less production. Hudler won't have an excuse, because he'll still get adequate PP time, but Helm and Eaves will see their ice time diminish.

    Trade Time?

If you ask me, Hudler has arisen. Not just the shootout goal, but his overall play. He's done a lot better on the PP at the half-boards. The set-up for Eaves was pure creative hands. Hopefully he keeps it up.

THN's Ross McLean "Scouting Blog" - Teemu Pulkkinen

I was impressed with both guys during the tournament. Glad to see them both takings steps in the right direction. I think we'd just have to be careful the team doesn't get too soft, as not too many of our prospects play much of a physical game right now. Hopefully, they'd see the work ethic and fight of guys like Z and Dats and try to bring it themselves, but we'll have to see. In the coming years I'd imagine the forward line-up could look something like... Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary Franzen-Filppula-Tatar Nyquist-Jarnkrok/Andersson-Pulkkinen Abdelkader-Helm-Eaves/Callahan/Mursak Of course, none of us really know how well these guys will progress, but this is one of my guesses. I'm seeing Cleary as the clear Holmstrom replacement on that top line, should Babs keep the Eurotwins together. I think Tatar has shown in his time with the Red Wings that despite his size, he's willing to play a tenacious game. I know about his offensive, but I was pleasantly surprised by his puck pursuit after he lost it. He chased down loose pucks and fore-checked well, while maintaining all of his offensive flash. The third line worries me a bit in terms of its defensive ability. Nyquist has shown himself to be a strong two-way player, but the other two... I think this might be a case where someone like Joakim Andersson may step in and steal the spot. By that time, it might even be his spot and Jarnkrok will have to steal it from him. Andersson's shown himself to be a very capable defensive player, and has been putting up some points of late for the Griffins as well. I think that perhaps Mursak might find himself on the outside looking in, which I hate to say since he's pretty much my favorite Red Wings prospect. I think everyone else on the 4th line could be rotated in and out of the line-up. Helm and Abdelkader can both play center, and Eaves/Callahan could battle for spots as well. Ideally, I'd like to see all of them rotate on a regular basis, letting the strongest players play for lengths of time. As someone else said, we've got tons of offensive depth, so it might be in the team's best interest to swap someone out and add some defensive depth. I believe a solid right-handed, offensive defenseman is needed in the system. Pyett has kind of crapped out, in my opinion. I think that maybe Nick Jensen has the most room for growth here. I guess we'll see, but I do have high hopes for our forward depth.

    WJC Gold Medal game

As I said in another thread, I didn't have much of a vested interest in this tournament as a Canadian, but rather as a fan of Red Wings prospects. However, the fact that it's being pointed out that Canadians have a superiority complex is baffling to me. A good majority of the people on this website have a superiority complex; we're Red Wings fans. When Canada beat the USA the other day, someone posted "This is ridiculous. America shouldn't lose in any sport, ever"... or something along those lines. The fact is, out of 35 gold medals awarded, Canada has won 15 of them. In the last 6 tournaments, they won the gold 4 times. To expect Canada to win the tournament isn't a matter of superiority, it's a matter of probability. I see the same attitude with the USA when it comes to the Olympics. Why don't we all just get back to cheering on the Red Wings?

    Red Wings Tough Guy?

Again, if the Red Wings were to pick up a guy who scraps, he'd also have to put up some points/play well defensively. Someone like Brandon Prust would be perfect. Alternatively, Asham/Carcillo/Laperriere would work too.

    WJC Bronze Medal Game

Again, nothing against the Americans here, but I like more of the Swedish players. I'm a big fan of Klingberg, and I like watching Jarnkrok for obvious reasons. I'd also kill to get a high pick and somehow draft Larsson. On the American side I'm a fan of Callahan (obviously) and to a lesser extent Campbell (living in Windsor). Either way, I just hope they put on a very entertaining game.

1/4 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Oilers 3

One thing that has really stood out for me with Tatar is that when he does lose the puck, he chases it down as well. His puck pursuit is a lot better than I thought it would be.

Ok, now insult Abdelkader and Mursak, lol.

USA vs Canada (WORLD JUNIOR SHOWDOWN)

So much for my Sweden prediction. It seemed to me like there were a few blown calls going against the Swedes during the game. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought the 3rd goal by the Russians (the game tying goal) was knocked down with a high stick and then played by them. It's also possible that IIHF rules are different there, and I'm just in the dark on this one. The way you described your stance is probably more accurate for me as well. Watching the game, I couldn't help but cheer for Canada. I'm not a fan of Cameron either. If you ask me, he's made some suspect decisions. He played a well-coached game yesterday, but I think that cutting Sheahan and playing Roy in the first place were mistakes. While Cizikas has certainly earned his spot, I think Sheahan could have definitely replaced someone like Ashton.

USA vs Canada (WORLD JUNIOR SHOWDOWN)

I'm a Canadian, but I don't actually have much of a vested in this tournament. I'm still kind of bitter that they cut Sheahan, so I've just been following our Red Wings prospects more than anything else. Just a warning, though... some people are digging themselves into a big hole. When/if Canada wins the game, there's going to be a lot of gloating. All the people hiding in the shadows are going to pop out. Both the Canada and USA have shown themselves to be shaky at times, and I think Sweden's going to take it when all is said and done.

Dwayne Roloson traded to Tampa Bay

If the Islanders aren't tanking, I don't know what tanking is. Wisniewski, now Rollie; it's like anyone who does well is out.

    World Juniors

Not calling him a bust. I just think at this point, Klingberg looks like the better player. Won't really know what Ferraro is capable of until he starts to play in the AHL, at least that's how I feel.

    Should Valtteri Filppula be traded?

Yeah, Filppula is streaky. You know who else has been streaky lately? Ovechkin and Malkin. Many of the best players are streaky, and for Flip being a 2nd/3rd line guy, that's cool.

12/31 GDT: Islanders 4 at Red Wings 3 OT)

Tatar grabbed the logo on the front, not the name on the back. Not a selfish celebration at all. The Sauce has arrived.

    World Juniors

I still wish the Red Wings would have taken Klingberg over Ferraro. He was my pick when I was working at HF. He looked damn good last night; very fast for his size too.

Eaves day-to-day with "Upper Body Injury"

Only change I would make is putting Tatar and Mursak on the same line... Tatar-Abdelkader-Mursak Draper-Helm-Miller Tatar and Mursak have some chemistry together, and actually really like ribbing on each other and joking around.

    8-5-2 in december

Given the rough nature of their schedule and all the injuries they were hit with, I think it's a decent record to have. Worst game of the month in my opinion was the 5-0 loss to Los Angeles. They peppered Quick but just could buy a goal. By far my favorite game was against Vancouver. I know we won, but I just thought the game overall was awesome. Overall, just looking forward to a month with a lighter schedule for the sake of that good old wins column

12/27 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Avalanche 3 (OT)

I swear the players read these boards sometimes, and get notifications on their phones when their names pop up in a thread. Rip on Zetterberg the other night, and he turns around with a 3-point game. Rip on Ozzie tonight, and he turns around with a 46 save performance. Hell, even Huds turned things around tonight with 2 points... but I think he left his phone on silent since about early October. Point is, let's keep talking smack as long as it works, ha ha.

    Discipline for referee Devorski?

Not that I wouldn't put it past a ref to abuse his power, but I also don't don't BJ fans after our recent encoubter with them in the post-season. Either way, should be entertaining to see the outcome.

    Congratulations Chris Osgood!

150% fitting photo. As much as Ozzie has stunk it up lately, he TOTALLY earned this win. Good on you Osgood. Congrats.
