This draft is pretty bizarre so far...
-
I'm not saying that's why I personally don't want diving calls... I'm saying that'd be the league's stance. Pretty much anything that involves too much discretion goes downhill with them. "Intent to blow the whistle" being one of them.
-
It would have been nice to really pay attention to this rule during the San Jose series. Especially with Setoguchi... That being said, I highly doubt they change anything. There's too much room for error. Though, I do agree that if diving is called, the other penalty shouldn't be; it doesn't make much sense to me at all.
-
I wouldn't mind if the Wings traded down IF they ended up with two decent players, but man last year was rough. Watch for 3-4 hours then, Bettman: "I have a trade to announce" FFFFFUUUUU!! I feel like with McIlrath's stock rising, it's less and less likely we'll even see a glimpse of him. My money's on someone like Bjugstad or Tarasenko now.
-
Oh man, win. I love The Office... and more importantly Michael Scott. Jan: "I'm sorry, I underestimated you Michael" Micheal: "Well maybe next time you will estimate me"
-
That's why I "asked" Rafalski, lol. I don't think there's a real way to pull the trade off to be honest.
-
If anything it would seem to me like Boston would want a defenseman. They've already got lots of center depth, (Bergeron/Krejci/Sobotka and possibly Seguin) so I don't see why they'd wanna add another center. So uh... Raflawski... you wanna go to a tea party in Boston?

I really hate Jay Mohr...

Blackhawks playing Wings for banner raising game
Jesusberg replied to HockeyTownHouligan's topic in General
Surprisingly I'm not nearly as annoyed by Chicago winning it as I was Pittsburgh. Granted, Pittsburgh beat Detroit, but I'm just indifferent to Chicago winning. Their team's going to look way different. Plus, it just seems like their fans are obsessed with the Red Wings more than they are worried about their own team's success. It feels like the big brother let his little brother win one so he won't cry. -
They have to acquire someone... I can't imagine them going into next season with Greiss.
-
Sutton made 3.5 last year and looked pretty good, especially with Ottawa. I don't think he'd want to take a pay decrease, but who knows. I think Sutton would be like my wishlist version of a 3rd pairing guy.
-
He's said in the past that they don't just want a guy who'll fight. The only other intangible that Konopka would bring is his face-off skills (62%). I think they would take Winchester @ 700-750K over Konopka at 500K. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be opposed to a guy who fights 20+ times a year, but I think guys like Asham, Nystrom and Winchester who fight a lot less, but do other things would be more up Holland's alley.
-
And the more I look at everything, the better Brad Winchester looks. He's one year removed from netting 21 points in 64 games. He has anywhere from 7-10 fights, which I think is still solid too. There really is no point in trading for an enforcer; plenty of options on the market.
-
Lately McIlrath has projected anywhere from 10th-15th, so who knows. Like I said, it's a real crapshoot after the first 10 or so. I think for sure we see Hall, Seguin, Fowler, Gudbranson & Gormley in the Top 5 or so... after that it's up in the air if you ask me.
-
Not a terrible deal... he put up 70 points and a lot of the guys around him points wise are making 6-7 million. I guess it remains to be seen if he can keep that up, though.
-
Agreed, but bodies have to move. I don't think the Red Wings will wanna carry 14 forwards, but who knows. Either way, this kind of room gives Kenny some more options now. Good deal.
-
Oh man... this is money. Looks like a solid, physical d-man is possible now.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if he did. Ritola didn't progress much in his 3 years as a Griffin. He went 22 points in his rookie year then back-to-back 42 point years. He got a little more physical in the time span, but I don't think it was enough. I think he'll have to blow them away at training camp to be safe.
-
I wonder who's on the outs then? One or two of Miller, Ritola, Eaves, Abdelakder and/or Helm will have to go. I don't see the team cutting ties with Abdelkader or Helm; they're too high on homegrown talent right now, I think. Ideally I'd still like to see Winchester or Artyukhin.
-
Was it Nestrasil? I thought it was Ferraro and Tatar... my bad. Yeah, you were right. Ferraro was from an LA pick and Nestrasil from a FLA pick.
-
So Scotty... by retire you mean the Brett Favre special retirement?
-
I really do hope so. The Wings could really shore up on some physical defensemen. Kolosov hasn't made much of an impact in the AHL, just plays steady. I wonder if Brian Lashoff will be able to transition to the AHL. His two stints with the Griffins have looked really good, and I think he could turn out to be a pretty good overall player. As the OP mentioned, I think they could go for Bjugstad as well. Detroit needs some depth at center in terms of prospects. McGrath crapped out and Emmerton hasn't really put up an impressive AHL season yet. Either way, I'm pumped for the draft big time. Highest pick since Kindl in 2005. Oh... and Ken Holland. DO NOT TRADE THIS PICK!! I sat through last year's draft to find out at the 29th pick, we made a trade. I like Tatar... but do not pull that s*** again Kenny... DO. NOT.
-
I think with Wideman moving it's more likely that Boychuk stays now. They have tons of forward depth and can afford to lose someone there. Boychuk played the post-season almost solely with Chara, too, so they're pretty high on him. So again... I wish, lol.
-
No shot? I've seen him hovering around 15th to 25th in some cases. I think after the Top 10 it's pretty much a crapshoot. Edit: I just saw him at 10th overall too. Who knows.

Standing 6 feet, 5 inches tall. Weighing in at 215 pounds... Dylan "The Villain" McIlrath!
