Agree with this... Pyett kind of got lost in the shuffle last year, but has been looking up. Smith, more importantly, is most comparable to what Kindl would/could bring to the team. I'm not saying you're lying, but I'm just curious about where you heard this? Anytime someone says, "my sources say" it's a bit suspect. I'm all for this move, but we'd have to be sending out more salary I think?

That was a sexy, textbook win. The Wings looked methodical. That was awesome.
-
I think having Franzen with him has rejuvenated Pavs for sure.
-
Damn good-looking period.
-
Is your source a man named Eklund? Edit: Not to mention, Horton makes 4 million a year, lol.

I voted for "Yes, for whatever the Wings can get for him", mostly because I was just annoyed with the overvaluing of Filppula. Seriously... if you guys wouldn't try to get Nathan Horton or someone like him by giving up Filppula... I don't even know what to say. For the good of the team, we need less passive players, and more guys willing to put the puck on net. This team isn't working, whether Filppula is a 2nd/3rd line center... whatever he is, it's not helping the team as a whole. And I feel the same way about D and Z's lackluster play this year, but I think they're truly top line centers.

He played on a line with Landon Ferraro last year in Red Deer and looked good to the Red Wings, so they singed him to an off-season contract. He's one of those guys Holland refers to as "bonus picks", kind of like Brian Lashoff (Kingston, OHL). He had a decent season last year with 42 points in 72 games. When Landon went down with an injury early in the season (knee, I think, but someone can correct me here) it was assumed that Willie's numbers would drop, but as you can see.... 72 points over 57 games at the moment.

If moving Flip meant bringing in a 30+ goal scorer I'd be all for it. It's not even because he's not a bad player, but because the team already has tons of passive players. The Wings need someone who's going to shoot the puck and bury it. I think that maybe if the Wings are willing to wait it out a bit, guys like Tatar and Mursak could be those snipers. In 2-4 years I'd be all for seeing a line of Tatar-Filppula-Mursak. That's a decent amount of skill, and if they mature properly could end up being a very solid offensive line. Top two lines of: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Tatar-Filppula-Mursak I like it.

Filppula/Datsyuk to play Saturday, Kronwall/Lilja Maybe

Agree 100%. Even when Franzen I tried to get myself pumped up, but to not avail. -
Ok, but unless I'm missing something here, Lilja is not a replacement for Maltby? They're two separate issues. There wouldn't be an article by Ansar Khan saying, "Red Wings' Kirk Maltby might need shoulder surgery, which would clear cap room for Andreas Lilja" unless it was a viable option.
-
Ok, but either way 500K (Brad May being waived) of that money is cleared. In the same article it says that the team only need to clear roughly 700K now. So Maltby going on LTIR would solve it by himself. EDIT: Also, I know Maltby has been rough for periods of time, but his play of late has been solid if you ask me. At the same time, this could be a blessing in disguise.

Nick Leddy WAS their 1st round selection in 2009. They were just explaining where Leddy was in the draft. EDIT: Beaten to it.

Something happen... this does not make sense Look at the silly monkey.

I'm not worried about his skill, so much as I am about his work ethic. He's had several incidents because of attitude problems and I hope he's put them behind him. We will certainly need the skill on the back end in the future.

As much as I can appreciate TKO (as I call him) being a scrappy force on the blueline, I think it's highly unlikely that he plays for the Red Wings. I can think of maybe 3 scenarios where he would: 1. Lidstrom or Lilja retire next season. 2. More injuries to the blueline. 3. The Wings decide to carry 8 defensemen again next year, with Meech and Lebda gone (Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart, Lilja, Ericsson, Kindl & Tollesfsen). I think this could be most likely, that way if Kindl and Ericsson both struggle, he could be tossed in the mix for relief perhaps? If I put myself in his shoes, I wouldn't really want to spend time on an AHL team when I've played in the pros for 4-5 years. He might've been a fringe NHL in that time, but it was still time up with the big club. Like I said, I do see some potential there, but it just doesn't seem likely that he'll wear the winged wheel.
-
Everyone's just mad because Rafalski has McCabe syndrome. He's a good player, but is being overpaid by 1-2 million. I just don't like his lack of consistency defensively... I think we can chalk up his (and Lidstrom's) offensive issues to all the injuries.
-
At first I thought this was a comment on his defensive play this season...
-
While I agree the defensemen having been missing their assignments a lot (Stuart & Ericsson most obviously) it doesn't seem to me that McCrimmon has done anything to rectify or change the situation. Try something new man. I think that it might be best to send him packing, because at least a new defensive coach would bring in a fresh approach.

Does Holland have the courage to tank this team?

I cried a little... but it might just be the alcohol... -
Ok... I can't watch anymore today, lol.
-
Can't defend Howie on that one... what a f***-up.
-
This is a good tip for me. Instead of openly accusing people as being trolls I should just sit back and wait.
-
Still a Bertuzzi fan... for the way he carried the team during that stretch I'll take his bad penalties. Especially for 1.5 million. Edit: Is it just me or does Oscar Moller look like Helm kind of? Just with the awkward blonde facial hair.

ZETTERBERG... you ARE Jesusberg! Miracles on ice... I want to see the Hattie.

And there goes that PP...
