I don't think that anyone outside Ian White was a big loss for the Leafs. They're all players that haven't worked out too well for Toronto, so Burke's essentially just re-vamping the team and letting the younger players in to change things up. I think if they show themselves to be incapable during the rest of the season, he'll pick up some free agents to insulate them. Re-shuffling for a struggling team isn't a bad idea. That being said, both Phaneuf and Giguere are still overrated, and they won't save anyone... but there still is the chance that Dion could blossom into an all-around defenseman. If that happens then he'll be better than anyone involved in this trade.

The more you watch, the funnier it gets.

It seems to me that he'd be a perfect type of player to add to the 4th line for awhile. He's kind of what the Wings wanted Kopecky to be; a guy who can play well defensively and can be slotted in on a higher line should injuries occur. I hope the Wings decide to sign both he and Eaves up in the off-season, they've really helped the PK out.

With Homer returning Sunday, who's the odd man out?

Pretty sure last night I saw that once Franzen and Lilja return the team will be 1.9 million over the cap. This means that tossing away just Brad May and Lebda isn't going to work. I have a feeling that Leino is going to see the waiver wire. He hasn't produced this year, and he's got no long-term loyalty with the club. Maltby's salary is higher, sure... but the combination of Leino, Lebda and May being waived gives the team 1.95 million in freed space. This makes the most sense to me. -
Huge win... thank you Jimmy Howard.

WOO! Zetterberg makes up for the turnover!

I ******* hate Shea Weber... in a good way, but still. f*** you Shea.

I wish the Red Wings had a "No Fee Guarantee" too... they could give fans their money back every time they blow a third period lead.

Those Bernstein's sure are a good lookin' group of people

Stupid play by Kronwall, but I hate when guys get touched and go down like that. There was some embellishment there.

They looked really, really tired the last time they were out. This could get ugly.

Survival... Eaves was dog tired at the end of that PK.

Uh oh... PK. Wtf Big E?

Actually, I've had an account on here before and just created a new one for this name. Also, just because you've had an account somewhere for a long period of time means you're right. You can be an idiot for an extended period of time, as you're exhibiting. I'm sure your bashing and calling someone a "newbie" is just some inner issue surrounding the idea that you've never really fit in anything else but on a Red Wings forum. Piss off. Exactly. So then why is it fine for people to do the same to Howard? People who ***** about Ozzie getting jumped all over jumping all over Howard is productive how? And people who do bash Osgood, I would hope, do so because he's been terrible for a second consecutive regular season, and not because he made one mistake in the middle of otherwise excellent play.
-
Agreed.
-
I wasn't saying anything about Osgood. I was defending Howard. He bailed out the team 3-4 times and then gave up a s***ty goal. The whole team is allowing a shooting gallery. And for the record, I could care less how long people have been here. Anyone in love with Osgood jumped all over Howard when he finally f***ed up. Howard's the reason the Wings are still in this one right now. If you paid attention, you might see that.

After making how many outstanding saves before? Shut the f*** up troll.

I hate to admit it, because I think Williams has stupid hair... but he could definitely help the powerplay. That was the one area I was most impressed with this season. He's got a bullet for a shot. There, I said it. Damn you Jason Williams.

Khan predicts what 'healthy' lineup will look like...coaches a

Sure, but a lot of Ericsson's struggles have been BECAUSE he's played with Lebda. If he had a stable partner (Lilja) he'd be allowed to make some of the rookie mistakes he had, and he'd actually learn something. I also think that he played a lot better with big minutes last year. When he played on a pairing with Lidstrom he looked really good (yeah, Lidstrom can make anyone look good, I know). But having Lebda as a partner is ridiculous. Why the hell would the team place Lebda (on his way out) over Ericsson (the future of the team)? That's just insanity good sir. -
I think if anything it would be ok to trade Filppula if the return were a scoring winger. Probably won't happen, but I would like to see him as part of a package deal for Kovalchuk. The issue is, of course, taking on Kovalchuk's salary for the rest of THIS year. We're over the cap once everyone returns, so how we could add anyone to the roster is beyond me. You'd have to get rid of equal or more salary either way. As Holland as said, any trade will have to be dollar in, dollar out.
