I literally dropped a class for this reason.
-
The guy kept going down like a tree. Maybe if he filled out some, he could be a force. As it stands, he's a lanky kid who gets knocked down to often and can't raise a puck. Yeah, NHL time for sure. Peace lurch.

Andreas Lilja isn't an enforcer, he's just been in a few scraps. I wouldn't call Souray or Weber "enforcers"... These guys had like 3-4 fights in a season. As far as May is concerned, he's also a shell of his former self. It's ridiculous how people get a boner for a guy who'll drop the gloves one time. We don't have a legit enforcer unless Tardif somehow makes his way up, or if Callahan makes the team in the future.
-
I noticed Filppula seems faster. Maybe it's because it's pre-season and the guys are a bit slower, but it just seems like he can hit a higher gear. I hope for good things out of him/Leino.
-
His ability to retrieve the puck behind the net and play it out front has really impressed me. The guy's a keeper.
-
Cloutier is outplaying the other goaltenders right now... it's only half a game, but come on prospects! Jesus.
-
I don't see how that Voros hit was any different than Datsyuk's. This game's officiating is pretty bad.
-
I don't think it's that bad man. It's not like he had the full team in front of him. Earlier in the game it looked to me like he smothered the puck when it was put on net. I don't think he's the answer, as I still think Larsson will end up being the starter of the future, but for now he's really all Detroit can do.

As far as which conference is "tougher" it's still the West. They battle the way they do and have to go through all that travel and jet lag. Toronto and Philly make it a little tougher, though. I do. Still pictures don't show a "battle". I remember Hudler's battles in the corners very well. Very often he was use spin moves, the boards and stick handling to get away. His puck pursuit afterward wasn't all that hungry. Datsyuk is amazing in the corners, but I don't consider his board play to be "tough"... The way he throws the body lately is, but not his board work. I think the only time you can call Hudler tough is when he comes back to the ice after getting rocked for the 5th time in the same month.

Islanders Pascal Morency suspended indefinitely

This. People are saying Okposo should have kept his head up, but did you even watch the video? He got checked/pushed from behind into the hit. And as far as the "never let up, no matter when you're playing"... why? Post-season counts for NOTHING to a guy who's #1 on the depth chart. If Pheaneuf was a guy like Pardy, Giordano, etc on the bubble or trying to move up, I could see it. Maybe he's trying to remind people that he's #1 with the move to Bouwmeester. Either way, he's a ******... he can easily take over biggest ****** in the universe from John Edwards. -
Kindl looked really poised to me on his last shift. It's good to see he wasn't rushing the play, which has been an issue with him.
-
Agreed. He seemed to just lose any tenacity and sit back to observe the play. It's fine to grab your face and try to get the call, but don't just stand there afterward. He left Pare (I think) out to dry on the half-boards.
-
For a guy who doesn't have much speed/isn't good defensively Leino sure looked good on the forecheck just now. He forced the play a few times. Nice to see he's picked it up some.
-
It was pretty much just a nice goal. Anisimov has some speed, he used a screen properly. Doesn't seem to me like anyone was overly at fault.
-
Mine was initially, but it's been clear sailing since. Btw, I liked how the Cleary-Gator-Bert line looked. Guys seem like they've got an edge and are willing to drive the net. Imagine Hank distributing to those two. Awesome.
-
Just download a program called VLC and it's pretty self-explanatory.

I'm pretty sure he's capable of immaculate conception. She'll be pooping out Z Jr.'s until she's 60.
-
This. I want to see if the intrasquad play was legit. This could be a pretty sweet third line if they keep producing.
-
I think people are just happy to see a prospect who actually looks good coming out of the gate. A lot of the higher prospects Detroit's drafted haven't met expectations, and the guys who have excelled were late-round surprises. Tatar's showing that his play at the World Juniors wasn't a fluke. He only dropped because of his size and people questioning whether or not he was a fluke. It's nice to see a bonafide offensive talent in the system.
-
I should hope so, haha. If Hank actually said "sticking it to Emma Andersson" I don't think he'd have her.
-
Sorry everyone. I promise I'll be back at 100% for the season with a healthy groin. Performing such miracles as: walking (skating) on water, turning Bertuzzi into a viable power forward again and sticking it to Emma Andersson. In all seriousness, it's good to see that McGrath is going to get a chance to show his stuff. This is quite possibly the biggest game of his life, to this moment anyway.
-
I think it's dumb as hell for Phaneuf to hit a guy like that in the pre-season. If it were, say, Jamie Tardif looking to make a big impact, ok. Phaneuf is the #1 defenseman in Calgary's system. Just what exactly was he looking to prove? The guy has always been a bonehead, and I think this just adds to it. I'm going to go watch Jarkko Ruutu trip him now... several times.
-
Sounds like the "r" is silent... I don't like it. Dear Tomas Tatar. We are going to pronounce your name "Ta-tar"... so we can call you The Sauce. Signed, LGW
-
Really though, the two lines makes perfect sense in terms of skill, at the moment. As far as the wingers go, Homer is probably "the worst" and is paired with Franzen, with Cleary and Bert in the middle. If Bertuzzi catches fire, though, Z's line could quickly become the better line.
-
I was thinking this too. No one in this system gets rushed, and for good reason. I hope he spends a year in the OHL with Plymouth and tears it up. His confidence has to be at an all-time high right now, and if something were to go wrong in the AHL it could be detrimental to his future.
