Another idea for GM's - Shorten Season to 70-74 games
jollymania replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
no im with Holland, 84 games would be best, that way we get maximum amount of action to entertain us during the year. -
if you are talking head hits, yes they are worse if you are being hit by the big shoulder pads, and that is why we are talking about head shots, they just need to come up with some safer pads to protect the idiot with his head down. Those same pads do protect players from the boards, sticks, pucks, ect.. though.

Based on the hardness immovability of the glass in most circumstances. There were like 20 in that vid what were you watching? I don't understand why you think the hitting was any less dangerous back in the day, if anything it is safer now with the upgrades in padding. Headshots were always in the game, players haven't lost respect. The object of hitting someone open ice is and always has been to obliterate them and take them off their game.
-
there are plenty of them in there, look it doesnt get past the 2nd hit and theres already an elbow to head, and boardings involving head to glass contact which is worse then shoulder to head.
-
Are you joking? There are tons of boderline hits in that video, all with crappier helmet technology too. The slewfoot at 51 is filthy
-
This is the first really badly ending headhunt we have seen this season and he only gets 3 games. If the dude doesn't have the puck and can't see you coming, you should not hit him in the head that hard no matter if it looks like he is going to get it or not. Now if he does a Ben Eager or MAx Talbot puss out move and tries to miss the puck to draw an interference call you have every right to deck em hard and high because they know you are coming for them.

same problems happened a few years back

A little adversity never hurt us in Februaries past, shouldn't hurt us in November either.
-
Except football sucks and why would you want to emulate it? But i think the trapezoid rule has nothing to do with football and it should be abolished because the game wasn't any worse when the goalies could run out there and grab pucks, if anyhting it was more entertaining to see what guys like Turco or Brodeur would do. But as long as these big hits on dmen are good clean hits, who cares, the problem comes when guys run in there and board the defenseman.

cbc says broken

where was he bleeding form i couldnt tell

hagman with the flying elbow on datsyuk
-
lebda and ericsson playing the whole game apparently
-
he has had some brutal, brutal giveaways though and can't hit the net
-
But in the end, if he had his head up naturally like an NHL player should this wouldn't have happened....
-
if he had his head up he wouldn't have been, do you understand that if you don;t want to be hit, don't skate staring at the puck?
-
It doesn't matter if he had his head up he would have seen neil and neil would have either let up or Hedman would have braced himself
-
Weeks is getting increasingly annoying
-
what? That he shoudl have had his head up? Yes, he should have.
-
His head was down looking at the puck??? i don't know why you are so animate about this but Hedman should have been ready for Neil, no excuses, how do you know one of his teammates did say heads up and he jsut didn't hear it? The best thing for Hedman in this situation is to have his head up.
-
Lebda is inconsistent, Bertuzzi makes horrible passes in his own zone and can't hit the twine, those are the main problems for these 2.
-
Hedman has gotten rocked a few times this year, at different areas of the ice, he just isn't keeping his head up, he will learn soon enough
-
So do Stuart and Kronwall, there is nothing wrong with declining a fight after you rock someone, if anything it gets the other team off their game because they will have you on their mind instead of the game. But I hate Phaneuf because he is so overrated.

Hedman: Keep your head up
