no they are not, ballard was in full control and hit hip to malkin's (who's legs were straight pretty much) thigh, that is a hipcheck, Scuderi's was a failed hip check, he made initial contact with his shoulder to chimera's knee. A ballard hipcheck on Malkin will always look low but what is Ballard supposed to do grow 5 inches magically when he goes to make a hipcheck so they dont appear low?

Ballard is what 5'10 malkin is like 6'5/6'6 p,us he was rising, of course it is going to be low, but even then ballard is thigh height unlike scuderi who is knee level and 6'1 checking a 6'0 dude.

Scuderi deserved a fine, he screwed that hipcheck up, he didn't even hit chimera wiht his hip, you should be punished if you cant control yourself when going for a hipcheck. THe ott one was fine Colaiacovo like always puts himself in a vulnerable position to get another injury.
