exactly, there are guys like Sutton, boychuk, and wilson who look alot like stevens out there. Guys liek Phaneuf and Kronwall are more of your take it to the edge hitters.

Turco has historically sucked against the wings, pavel and Z have had so many highlight reelers just making a fool of turco.

well i mean lidstrom did it all, his defensive play was pretty much good as stevens was in 00, but that speaks to how good lidstrom is and in no way takes away form the huge accomplishment stevens made with his conn smythe Instead of HAving guys like scott stevens I would rather have the NHL look more like one of Bettman's latest wet dreams:

*kenny, usually mickey calls the fights, but I have noticed Kenny's overexcitement int he last 2 years, he screams alot more now Well, lids pretty much, but i guess lids' wasn't jsut defense althoguh it could have been. Stevens was easily the 3rd best captain of the 90s in my book behind stevie and sakic
-
Lol Kenny goes nuts on this one, imagine if it was Mickey lol
-
Fischer, like vladdy was probably the next best thing to Stevens. A solidly built guy who will put you though the glass if need be (just ask sedin) eager is not an enforcer, and why are we talking about enforcers here, stevens was not one, lets focus on what stevens brought to the table, solid defense, huge hits, leadership, ect.. ect...
-
? you make absolutely no sense dude the only guy who comes close to stevens hit-wsie is Sutton imo, a guy who every night seems to be getting a stevens-esque hit.
-
and rusdrw listen to neale at about 57:sec of that konstantinov video
-
ill make a reel of vladdy one of these days

Stevens was one of the best players in the game, he is a first year ballot hall of famer, he had plenty of skill, I just can't see how you can't enjoy and respect him, he is obviously not as good as lids but he is easily in contention with zubov and btw there was a red wings who played exactly like stevens don't forget
-
same with me, him and yzerman are 1 and 2 fav players of all time

I guess I have bad memory, those 2 hits were awful calls, especially in the playoffs where more physicality should be accepted. Utterly ridiculous hitting in the NHL (and all hockey) is intent to injure or at least stun/bruise/strike fear into the opponent, sometimes guys get hurt, as long as the elbows aren't up, it is within a fair amount of time after the puck leaves, if the player is grounded, if he doesn't take more than 3 hard strides, and doesn't target the head on a blindside, who really cares? The problem with the nhl is the media today is far too reactionary to borderline hits, hits like the cooke and richards ones have happened for years, but because they got attention this year they were banned, yes the blindside headshots don't belong in the game, but for some people if this can get banned, than so can any hit with the slightest amount of head contact, which would take hitting out of the game.

The dude just flips a guy with his forarm on one of those, he knew the path that players took when they were most vulnerable and he exploited it, I guess he was the only guy to ever figure it out down to a science so that was his victory, he was within the rules for most of his biggest hits. It was similar to say Brown on Hudler, I don't remember if that one was penalized but I thought it was legal.
-
The only major one of his hits that was boderline was the Kariya one, but still, Kariya skated right into the path of no return, you can't expect Stevens to let up.
-
Smith is an excellent hitter, could easily be as deadly as kronner or stuey, 2 other guys who can bring it in the future are Lashoff and Kolosov ncaa is much dirtier, they aren't aloud to take out their anger and they wear cages which ends up in a ton of cheapshots
-
bleacher report is the epitome of retard chicago media
-
the way he said sidney crosby just totally irked me, and yeah, i prefer guys like lynch who don't say much
-
college hockey though, no matter what the team, ill take NHL over it anytime, ditch the cages, allow fighting, tell the refs not to be f***in pansies because it is "academic".
-
I cant stand either, but i try to pay attention as little as possible to pa announcers on TV, those 2 are easily noticeable, in the wrong way. As far as in arena, the balckhawks guy is pretty shallow, faux, and crappy, I was able to hear bud lynch as the reg guy and the new guy, the new guy doesn't have a nostalgic voice but he also isn't overly exuberant and doesn't really get annoying, I hardly pay attention though when I'm at the game.

I got tossed up last night after chugging (regrettably because it tasted so delicious) 2 Stone Ruinations, s*** that stuff is like drinking Gatorade after a workout.
