well the sutton factor would be he completely erases guys form existence ala scott stevens, before this year started it would have been clutterbuck for me this isn't even the full representation of sutton this year, he had about 30 hits that were as big as any of these
-
exactly the dude doesn't hit like he used to, still hits alot but I haven't seen him clock a guy in a long time
-
witt might be okay, bieksa is overrated but i'd take him, otherwise the rest of those guys are pretty much the bottom
-
theres not much out there, hnidy, meyer, if a miracle happened, sutton
-
where has he been since preseason of last year? True, Giordano broke out last year, but i could only remember so many honorable mentions yeah ohlund is a guy i probably should have put maybe before guys like backes and robidas, he's a solid hitter, so is his new partner Kubina. oops, forgot volchenkov, brown has totally sucked as of late, he doesn't hit hard anymore, he would rather devote his game to diving And this is a solid list imo minus the volchenkov absence and here is clutterbuck answering the bell
-
It isn't embarrassing, you don't like them because you love to see fights and they get in the way of your ability to do so, it is embarrassing when you are patrick kaleta and dive constantly and never fight
-
Clutterbuck never needed to fight, he is an agitator, probably the leagues best (him or ott), and he backs it up by being the most consistent (and one of the hardest) hitter in the league, Abby will be our teams main "fighter" as of now so you would expect him to throw down more.
-
yeah like someone up above said he has to hit the body a bit more instead of glass, but if he plays like he did in the playoffs he could get into being a clutterbuck type guy. Abby also had a few big hits during the reg season, I don't think he is gonna slow down
-
uh oh a downey vote lol, in ode to UK_redwing
-
I don't think so, he and if he is he is on the extreme low end of what kenny would want
-
yeah not last year, but only because of his injury he had a few good hits early in the season, but later on nothing really, a few in the olympics which doesn't count, count his last 82 games and he is easily top 10
-
it has nothing to do with tough defenseman it has to do with walker being a terrible player
-
I have seen him play, his best attribute is his fighting and ability to throw the hipcheck, maybe he would progress like lilja did, but then again it is a crapshoot, but he is an incredibly shallow minded player that makes a lot of mistakes (of which stats don't necessarily account for)
-
they were the same, if not worse besides the +/- when he played for the hawks Lilja is better, just because a guy fights more doesn't make him better, both have had concussion/injury issues
-
yeah.... right Player Team Pos GP Hits BkS MsS GvA TkA FOW FOL Tot FO% %Tm Shots G S% 09-10 Matt Walker TBL D 66 82 116 25 32 10 0 0 0 0.0 0.0 54 2 08-09 Andreas Lilja DET D 60 95 92 25 29 8 0 1 1 0.0 0.0 60 2 3.3 Matt Walker -11 Andreas Lilja +13
-
and also accounts for half the teams goals against...
-
we wouldn't be lucky, if we got him everyone would hate him, the walnut sized brain factor comes into play with walker
-
walker sucks, but he will get waived probably giving the wings an opportunity on him
-
I want to make it a decent length so I will use all his hits, I actually have more footage of his more recent hits (last 2 years) than of his older ones.
-
lucky, you should send some of their sour beers (Concescration) up to me in WI, ill send you back some New Glarus. PtE is freaking delicious. any beer with corn tastes the same to me, there is no variance between a 14$ a case High life and a 7$ a 30pk Beer 30 light.
-
one day ill make a franzen hit reel for ya, he has plenty, this last year of course he didn't have as many for obvious reasons
-
franzen does not play like hudler, he routinely battles his way to the net and hits guys, he is merely a coward when it comes to fighting, but not fighting doesn't mean playing like hudler like some here believe.

modano would sign 1 year 1.25, not 2 years if he did sign
-
If sutton isn't signed yet, chances are he coudl be available to fill the the grit role at a much lower price than expected. He doesn't fight much, but like john scott his large size allows him to make up for not being a great or consistent fighter, plus he hits better than any real fighter-type, yes including downey, who uk-redwing says delivered multiple twice-as-damaging-as-kronwall type hits every shift.
